From USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR and AGATHA AWARD FINALIST, Annette Dashofy, comes the first in her successful Zoe Chambers mystery series. Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania’s tight-knit Vance Township, has been privy to a number of local secrets over the years, some of them her own. But secrets become explosive when a dead body is found in the Township Board … Board President’s abandoned car.
As a January blizzard rages, Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch a desperate search for the killer, even if it means uncovering secrets that could not only destroy Zoe and Pete, but also those closest to them.

Loved this book!! Zoe and her EMT partner, Earl, are called to a scene and it turns out to be the dead body of Zoe’s friend, Rose’s, husband in the car of the head township man. Jerry, the township man, is the prime suspect since he had argued with Ted and was not well-liked by the townspeople. Ted’s mother, Sylvia, was accused by Jerry of …
The older lady throughout the mystery was my hero
Having grown up in a small town, I know that everyone is related to or grew up knowing everyone else…so keeping secrets is hard and scary.
The lead character Zoe is well depicted as a scrappy thing just squeezing out a living as a paramedic. Add to that town meetings, the bully McKinney, and teens going through angst and you gave a well plotted …
Circle of Influence, by Annette Dashofy, is a traditional mystery and not a cozy, as I’d originally assumed. The story tackles topics with grit and Zoe Chambers, the heroine of the series, has moxie and heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this twisty tale set in a rural jurisdiction in Pennsylvania and look forward to Zoe’s next adventure!

This is the first book I have read from this author. Thank you Annette for sending …
I have been listening to the audio version of this book and love the mystery and the narration of it. This is a fantastic series that has made it very quick to one of my all-time favourites.
I just finished this quick read with all its twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout. Dashofy writes compelling characters and feeds us just enough clues to keep the mystery lover turning pages until the satisfying resolution at the end. This was my first Zoe Chambers mystery, but it certainly won’t be my last.
After an especially tension filled Township Board meeting, paramedic Zoe Chambers is called to an abandoned car with a dead body in the front seat. That discovery on a cold winter night plunges Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams into a complex mystery that hits too close to home. Where will it end?
I shouldn’t have put this debut off for so long. …
While I did find this book to be good it was a bit intense for my reading pleasure. I won’t be reading anything more in this series for now but I might come back to it in the future.
A great start to a new to me series. The action started almost immediately and didn’t let up. There were several dead bodies and many plausible suspects that kept the story moving at a fast pace. The characters are likeable and their interactions believable. I couldn’t read fast enough. I can’t wait to read more books in this series.
I’m not sure if this is a cozy mystery or not. It’s free of cuteness. It deals with serious issues such as drug use and intimate partner violence in a way I don’t think of as cozy. (This is a compliment.) But there is the cozy convention of an attraction between the amateur sleuth and a law enforcement professional, the violence is offstage, and …
Hard to put down
looking forward to the next!
I loved Circle of Influence. This book is engaging and suspenseful. It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and kept my captivated until the end. There are many twists and turns that will keep you guessing. The book is well written with detailed characters. I like that it is written from multiple points of view. The plot is …
It’s wonderful to discover an author. It’s even better when there’s a series involved. Circle of Influence kept my attention from start to finish and left me wanting to read all the remaining books in this series. The characters are engaging and relatable, and there was just enough suspense to keep the pages turning. Well done!
Wonderful first book by very talented author about Zoe Chambers, EMT in rural Pennsylvania, who discovers murders and finds murderer with help of local Police Chief, Pete Adams. Very well written, engrossing, imaginative.
Zoe Chambers is a strong woman with her share of baggage that she has to face in this story. She is a good neighbor and friend who works hard. Her job of paramedic and part time coroner puts her in the middle of murders quite naturally. Chief Pete Adams is a potential romantic interest with his own baggage, such as his ex-wife who is somehow …
What a wild wide. Non stop action with wonderful characters. Super thrilling and a great book to read.
Well developed characters and unexpected plot twist at the end. I’ll read the next in the series.
Enjoyed enough to consider purchasing the next. Characters seemed fairly real especially for a small town. Liked that the main character is an EMT which is different. Some suspense, some small town, some family interaction and a little romance in an easy to read book.
