“[An] irresistible invitation to share the lives of people who believe in enduring values.”—Detroit Free PressIt began with Benny Hogan and Eve Malone, growing up, inseparable, in the village of Knockglen. Benny—the only child, yearning to break free from her adoring parents. . . . Eve—the orphaned offspring of a convent handyman and a rebellious blueblood, abandoned by her mother’s wealthy … by her mother’s wealthy family to be raised by nuns.
Eve and Benny—they knew the sins and secrets behind every villager’s lace curtains . . . except their own.
It widened at Dublin, at the university where Benny and Eve met beautiful Nan Mahlon and Jack Foley, a doctor’s handsome son. But heartbreak and betrayal would bring the worlds of Knockglen and Dublin into explosive collision. Long-hidden lies would emerge to test the meaning of love and the strength of ties held within the fragile gold bands of a. . . Circle Of Friends.

One of the best authors of our day! Will read anything with her name on it. She has a special way of drawing you into the story with her characters, and you don’t want the story to end
Not as much fun to read as most of Binchy’s stories. Characters well drawn but a tedious read.
I am a huge fan of Maeve Binchy, and this is one of my favorites of her books. I loved the relationships between the characters, the description of small-town life, and the growth in the characters of Bernadette and her mom. One of my favorite scenes in the book is a group of Catholic girls educating the local Protestant landowner’s daughter about …
Wonderfully well-developed characters, and rich imagery. Fandyof Marve Bunche will not be disappointed, those who have not discovered her, should!
Maeve Binchys books are also wonderful but this has been my favorite. I was rereading it for probably the third time!
This is a wonderful book by one of my favorite authors. I have given this book as a gift to friends and they also raved about it.
It’s just okay. I liked her other novels better.
Very good I enjoy reading Mave Binchey books

Slow
I hate her books to end, she’s the best.
I loved it. Great story about friends growing up. Love, sadness. Author is one of my favorites.
I have always enjoyed Maeve Binchy and how she weaves her characters in and out of all of her books. This is a story of a group of students who come from various parts of Ireland to attend college and their relationships.
I thought I had read everyone of her books but was glad to find this one that I had not read before. I have loved every one of her books.
This was my first Maeve Binchy novel. I read it years ago and became a fan of hers. All her books are wonderful.
Wonderful book!
I liked the character development.
I read this book for the first time in my twenties and was just amazed by how the characters came to life. The dynamic intensity of the main characters ‘ battle of her own self -worth versus the interpretation of the females’ place within society at the time felt emotionally draining. I felt her pain as I read the pages and it remains with me …
