“[An] irresistible invitation to share the lives of people who believe in enduring values.”—Detroit Free PressIt began with Benny Hogan and Eve Malone, growing up, inseparable, in the village of Knockglen. Benny—the only child, yearning to break free from her adoring parents. . . . Eve—the orphaned offspring of a convent handyman and a rebellious blueblood, abandoned by her mother’s wealthy … by her mother’s wealthy family to be raised by nuns.
Eve and Benny—they knew the sins and secrets behind every villager’s lace curtains . . . except their own.
It widened at Dublin, at the university where Benny and Eve met beautiful Nan Mahlon and Jack Foley, a doctor’s handsome son. But heartbreak and betrayal would bring the worlds of Knockglen and Dublin into explosive collision. Long-hidden lies would emerge to test the meaning of love and the strength of ties held within the fragile gold bands of a. . . Circle Of Friends.

One of my favorite authors! Maeve Binchy’s characters are wonderful and you will hate reaching the end of the book and see your visit with them come to an end,
I loved it.
Love her books. Great storyteller!!
Although this book is long, I enjoyed every single minute of reading. The storyline is compelling, the characters are well-developed, and the setting is vividly described. I felt I was right there with them. I shall miss them!
Maeve Binchy is the story teller of all story tellers. I have read all her books and re-read them over and over again. This one has such realistic characters – my heart broke for Benny as she was growing up and I wanted to find Nan and beat some sense into her. As you can see – this book draws you right in…
Vintage Maeve Binchey. I have read them all, over and over and over. She is great and makes you feel like the characters are a part of your family by the end. I’m always sad when I get to the end because I don’t want to leave them.
This is a good book with many twists and turns.
Wonderful story of young people becoming adults and navigating some hard lessons life brings. Maeve Binchy’s characters feel very real to me, and I miss them when I’ve finished her books. This one is a favorite of mine.
Binchy is my favorite author! Pull up a chair and share some real life with Maeve’s characters. Love her style .. so sorry she’s gone.
I normally love her books. I stopped reading it before I got 25% through because it was boring…
It was a nice read
Very different from the movie that is based on it – I really liked the book, even better than the movie. Characters were well developed, and a bit quirky
Loved the story and the time period.
Really a good read. Introduced me to one of my now favorite authors.
As with all of the Binchy books I’ve read, she maintains a delightful picture of realistic lifestyles in Ireland. Her writing artistry is easy to fall addicted to, and I will continue add her books to my libraries.
I have read this book at least three times, and in a few years will probably read again. I love all of Maeve Binchey’s books, this one was my first and favorite.
Marvel Binchey is my favorite author. I love how she uses the same characters in different books; it gives you a different point of view of your favorite characters. Very enjoyable plot lines!
Another fantastic book.
as usual another great book. Anything by Maeve Binchy is worth the read…this one no exception.
A good story about friendship. A thousand times better than the lame ending of the movie. Strong female character finding her strength.
