Oh! I loooved Cinder by Marissa Meyer (and the whole series)!!!
At first, I didn’t really want to read it because based on the synopsis it would not be something that I would normally read; thus, did not grab me enough to purchase it. But, one of my friends was raving about how AMAZING Cinder and all of the other books of the Lunar Chronicles by …
I always love fairy tale retellings, and this science fiction one of Cinderella with cyborgs definitely caught my attention! Great characters, great universe building, and even better, lots of sequels covering even more fairy tales. Definitely worth a read if you’re into fairy tales or young adult sci-fi!
This was an AMAZING book. I cannot believe I waited this long to read it. It is undoubtedly one of the best that I have read in a long time. Definitely looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
This book is AMAZING! There are like 6 or 7 books in the whole series. They are a mix of science fiction and romance and fantasy. These are a must read.
This book was a great cliff-hanger that made you want to read the next book. (It is a series). The character isn’t a love-sick girl who falls immediately in love and soon you start to ship the couple that the author has created. I would totally recommend this book.
Cyborg Cinderella you say? The answer is yes! Cinder is an alternate take on the fairy tale Cinderella that takes place in New Beijing. It is refreshing and clever! I could not put it down. Fairy tales have always been my favorite but now it comes with a sci-fi twist. What more could you ask for.
I have to say this is probably the best Cinderella retelling I’ve read yet. The story takes place in a fully realized futuristic alternative Earth. It’s clear the author spent a lot of time building this world and making everything consistent and detailed. It’s a dystopian-like setting with the plague creating this grim, fearful vibe. Loved ones …
Fascinating mash of sci-fi and fairy-tale retelling. Gorgeous world building and fantastic characterization. Marissa Meyer knows how to weave a plot, and her talent shines here.
I am not a fan of YA novels, but have been trying to give them a chance. This book caught my eye before its release thanks to my love of fairy tales. Still, I put it off for YEARS until finally buying a copy at this year’s Bookcon. And, wow, am I glad I did!
This book (along with Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood & Bone) has shown me why YA is so …
Think steampunk meets Cinderella except Cinderella is this part cybernetic mechanic. It has all the basic telling of the popular fairy tale, but with a major dose of sci-fi.
I thought that this book was amazing. It had me up all night and forgetting about the rest of the world. I fell in love with it. I originally was reading it for a competition, but ended up finishing off the series, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter . I would recommend this book for anyone who loves romance, action, and plot twists.
I love this entire series. It’s a fresh look at an age-old story, and the characters are a lot of fun. I also love that it’s a clean read!
A new dystopian twist on classic fairytales for the 21st century reader. This series, especially this book, keep you interested in the movement and depth of the story in a way that is entirely unto itself. The story only faintly echoes Cinderella, as a distant tech-driven great granddaughter. This book is the gateway to an alternate & interesting …
This review is for the series as a whole; I’d really say 4.5 stars, but that’s not an option. I LOVED all of the books, I just thought the final book kind of meandered too much, especially in the second act. The end was also a little predictable and “meh.” Otherwise it was a very creative, fun retelling with amazing characters and perfect love …
I love this whole series! I think it’s such an original take on a classic fairytale. It was easy to read had, just the right amount of romance, and it is my favorite series by Marissa Meyer!
There was so much to admire about Marissa Meyer’s debut book and a cyborg named Cinder claimed my heart! From its simple and realistic world building to its character-driven plot, this story kept me absorbed, engaged, and clinging to hope.
Set in New Beijing, which sat atop the devastated remains of the original city, the residents are enjoying a …
I loved this book and the whole series of the Lunar Chronicles. The characters are so amazing and captivating, they each have their own story but go through ups and down together. I love the sci-fi twist on these original fairytales. Wish there were more!!
The Lunar Chronicles have become my favorite series! The female characters are so bad ass and amazing with great supporting male characters who you fall in love with. If you love Star Wars, Firefly, and a twist on an old classic these are the books to read! The world building is also amazing. I love how the author did research on the classic …
I really enjoyed this book. Showed me a new side of science-fiction that you don’t want to miss. Great characters and you never know what is going to happen next. Couldn’t put it down!
Based off of the story Cinderella, the rest of the books are also based off of fairytales. The entire series switches perspectives a lot so if you don’t like that, I wouldn’t recommend reading them.
