Candy Ray Sunshine—Yes, that is my real name, thank you very much, Mom and Dad—knew two things. One, she was going to work her butt off and open her very own coffee shop, even if she had to die doing it.Two, Banks Valentine was the world’s worst ex-boyfriend in the history of ex-boyfriends. Even if they were only boyfriend and girlfriend for one evening. She wouldn’t sneeze on him even if he was … if he was on fire.
Banks Valentine also knew two things.
One, he was an immature jerk when he was in high school, and Candy Ray Sunshine probably could open a coffee shop if she put her mind to it. But he still thinks that she should shoot a little higher, anything that gets her the heck out of Kilgore, Texas.
Two, he likes riding bulls. It’s a dangerous job, and when he gets on the back of one of those thousand-pound death machines, he can finally feel his head clear enough that he can think.
Candy and Banks would never get along. Not after what he said, and definitely not after what she did.
Then again, neither one of them expected that night to end the way it did, either—the night that both of them refused to talk about the next morning.

I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is book 3 in a series and its the only book I had read but as soon as I started it I realized I really needed to read the first two books. Can it stand alone? Yes, probably but I felt I had missed a lot by not reading the other stories and so I quit midway and started with Book 2, which is where we meet Candy. Well soon after starting that book I realized it ran concurrent with book 1 so I quit and started reading the first book.
My opinion is that you really should start with book 1, book 2 and then read this book. I will say that we don’t really get to know Banks until this story but Candy we meet in the first book. However because book 2 runs concurrent with book 1, you should really start with that first book.
The first book is Herd That, Then comes Crazy Heifer and then this book ChuteYeah.
Now back to my review of this book. This was an awesome story about Banks, the 3rd Valentine brother who is a twin to Callum and his high school enemy/crush Candy. These two have really been hurt, both in the very worst way . Candy to me seemed to get over the enemy thing fairly easy and Banks has always liked her, he just did not know how to deal with his emotions.
In this story, Candy has relationships with his brothers and their wives and that brings Banks back into her orbit. It is suggested that she pretends to date him to save him from buckle bunnies and so she goes on the road with him and this brings their new relationship around.
It is a very romantic and sweet romance with lots of hot scenes and two characters that have always liked the other but who had no idea how to deal with their feelings. I cannot wait for the 4th book in the series about the youngest brother, Darby.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

I am so loving these Valentine boys. It seems like you fall for one and along comes another to steal your heart even more. This is true of Banks. He and Candy have know each other since they were in high school and boy oh boy have they not let the getting the best of each other die down at all. However things are about to change and they are going to be see each other in totally different ways. When you begin this book though, I will warn you that you might just be an emotional mess. That is what I love about Lani Lynn Vale. She will tear your heart right out of your chest but, she never fails to put it back together again. And as I always say the header on the top of the chapters are the best. I am so glad that she does this and I sure hope she never stops. I look forward to those just as much as I look forward to her book.
This book broke my heart by the events that transpired but also put it back together just as swiftly. Candy and Banks knew each other in high school but were on opposite sides of the social ladder then one night that ended very differently for them that resulted in a tragedy that will have you reeling shaped them before in a way that no one can understand now it’s years later and the former enemies are back in each other’s orbits but there past is still very much on the forefront. This story was sad, beautiful and so funny at times that if I wasn’t crying I had a kool aid smile on my face!!
I generally don’t like the second chance trope; although strictly speaking this isn’t since they never dated.
What I appreciated was we didn’t have to go through most of the book for her to tell him what happened and they didn’t fight through most of the book
The premise of her going with him to “protect” him was a novel idea and one I liked.
Both Banks and Candy were engaging characters and the storyline flowed well. And as usual the chapter headings were gold.
Love, love, love Banks & Candy!! Heartbroken for both of them as kids, then they both “hate” each other. But then, as we all know, there is a fine line between love and hate. Love the spunkiness and snarkyness of Candy, and who doesn’t love a smart mouth, and handsome bull rider. Lani Lynn Vale has an awesome book with Chute Yeah! Can’t wait for the next Valentine boy book.
Chute Yeah is the third book in The Valentine’s series by the hilarious and talented Lani Lynn Vale. Every time I pick up one of Lani’s books I know I’m going to laugh out loud, smile and love every word. This book was just what I needed this week! It’s a second chance romance with a side of enemies to lovers. Banks and Candy knew each other in high school. There was a mutual crush, but things were said and mistakes were made and the animosity followed them through the years. Now Candy’s back in town and Banks can’t seem to stay away from her. Once they actually talk and clear the air, they realize the chemistry is still strong and the attraction takes over. Banks confesses his feelings and then it’s game on! Man, this story was so good! I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and my soul needed it! Banks is sexy, funny and so broody! Candy is hilarious, stylish and a real bad a$$!! Together they were perfection!
“Have you ever put two and two together and come up with fifteen reasons to smack a motherf?”
“I had the biggest crush on you in high school,” she said.
“I’ve always had a crush on you. In high school, I thought you were the most beautiful thing in the world.”
LLV has been really packing in the emotions in her most recent books and it is no different in Chute Yeah. She is going for broke and is not holding back. Candy and Banks story is here and my goodness, the tears were flowing. My.Poor.Heart.
Whether you’re an older or newer fan to this series, you have the history of the Valentine’s and it’s tragic and absolutely heartbreaking. Banks survived one of the worst days of his life and you have to wonder how someone can come back after that. When it came to Banks and some of his actions towards Candy when they were younger, I honestly wasn’t sure how he was going to redeem himself. And I even questioned how deep his crush went for Candy, but oh boy, he won me over.
Candy is the absolute light in this book. She is such a sweetheart and has a little bit of feist. Her story broke me too. And she was such a brave character. After everything that Banks put her through, how will he win her over?
Despite their not so great history during their teens, the chemistry was absolutely insane. I loved how flirty Banks was towards Candy. He wasn’t holding anything back to get the girl.
The series definitely gets better and better with every new book. And their story is probably my favorite so far.

Lani Lynn Vale
This series is so great and Lani Lynn Vale has created wonderful characters for The Valentine Boys.
All of the characters in this series have something to overcome emotionally and the great thing is that they have good humor to face their problems.
Candy Ray Sunshine has been through a lot in high school and so has Banks Valentine. They crossed a lot of paths and a lot of misunderstandings between them until they meet again years later. She is now partner with his sister-in law and they have to coexist somehow. More than that the attraction is overwhelming for them.
Now Candy and Banks are entangled in a fake dating business and cannot keep their hands off each other.
The book has some very emotional moments and fun too! As I said the characters in this series have suffered but find ways to overcome the sorrow and it is what I like most about these books.
You will love it!!
5 I Love Me Some Cowboy Chaps Stars!!
Banks Valentine and Candy Ray Sunshine have a history with each other that’s moved into their adulthood in Kilgore, Texas. One event that took place when they were both in High School changed both their lives in ways neither understood until years later.
When Banks came back to Kilgore after being gone for so many years the last person he expected or even wanted to see on a daily basis was this beautiful woman but they really didn’t have a chance given their properties are next door to each other and Candy has gone into business with his brother’s wife so fate stepped in again for these two.
I loved their verbal sparring but what I loved more is seeing how they were drawn to each other which shocked them both!! But there’s so much pain hidden beneath the surface that one of them hasn’t shared with anyone and the other who’s life dramatically changed on the exact same day. And this is the heart of our story.
This is a beautifully written second chance, enemies to lovers, finding forgiveness story. As much as they didn’t want to be attracted to each other Banks and Candy just couldn’t help themselves. The draw is that strong. But there’s also a healing going on with them as well. Seeing this man find a healing with the woman that is so broken that he helps her heal too moved me in ways I can’t describe.
With each book I love the Valentine family more and more. Their irreverent, sassy, alpha, sexy and love their women hard!! I cannot wait for Darby’s story!!
These Valentine Brothers have me won over big time. Banks is the flirty, bronco riding hunk with the tight wranglers and secret heart of gold. Candy…she was sort of the freak in high school but I didn’t really understand why. She’s gorgeous, down to earth, sweet…but she was bullied. I don’t quite get it but I was happy when good things started happening for her. Loved the flirty way these two started falling for each other. They were adorable together…not to mention the smoking sheet scenes. Whoa! Low angst, high lovey dovey interaction.
Valentine men keep me turning pages!!!! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Banks is no exception to the goodness that is Valentine men. Candy has loved Banks from a far since they were teenagers. Banks let teenage stupidity keep him from going after the girl he wanted. Now as adults will these two figure things out!!! Lani does what she does best draws you in and you will not want to put this book down. I can’t wait for the next Valentine!!!
It’s kind of hard not to like Banks even with his immaturity. Him and Candy are smoking and I loved getting to read about them getting through their past and moving forward. Their chemistry was undeniable and I felt for both of them and what they both endured.
In the beginning I didn’t know what to expect; with a bit of tearing eyes, but before long she had given us such a great read! A solid 4.5 read! These Valentine boys are sexy country boys that you can’t help but love! The charm, smooth talking & the manners remind us of the southern charm we want in a man. Candy is sweet, with a lot of sass that she needs with Banks. The chemistry between these two starts off as slow then moves into more intense as the story goes. This storyline isn’t exactly a friends to lovers, but more of an acquaintance to enemies to lovers. The bickering is hilariously funny & entertaining. LLV gives us a different story yet with parts that reminds us this is a great book by her. There were parts that seemed to slow, but it would quickly pick back up.
I recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
5 Buckin’ Stars
Gah! How can you NOT love a girl named Candy Ray Sunshine? I mean seriously lol. I loved the frenemies vibe from Candy and Banks in Crazy Heifer, and that made me anticipate their story that much more.
Chute Yeah is told in two parts, before that dreadful night that changed both of their lives forever, and the present. Banks is a bull riding god with a few crazy stalkers. Candy is trying to run two businesses and devises a plan to help Banks out with his stalker problem. These two have so much chemistry and both secretly in love with the other since their high school days. Both have a ton of guilt left over from their one “date”, but push through to find their happy ending. I loved every second of this one. It has the perfect amount of push and pull, LLV’s witty humor, and a love story to bring the hero and heroine to their knees. I’m loving these Valentine boys and I am soooo ready for Darby’s story.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
This is the third book of the Valentine Boys series and it centers around Banks and Candy. These two have been ribbing each other since high school. At one fateful dance everything changes for Candy and she has so much animosity towards Banks. After that same dance in question Banks’ world is flipped on its axis. fast forward when they are both back in town there is still a lot of animosity on Candy’s part but Banks still has a crush. They come to an agreement where Candy keeps the buckle bunnies away from banks while on the rodeo circuit. Will the feelings they had for each other in high school make an appearance again? The story is well with minimal drama and well develop the characters. I can’t wait until Darby’s story!!!
Chute Yeah….what a story
I loved Candy and Banks I’ve been waiting for their story for which feels like ages but I suppose that’s what happens when you’re in isolation that everything takes forever even though it doesn’t Candy and Banks have know each other since their school days together and unfortunately they have a hate-hate relationship, but as you quickly learn not everything is as it appears
A great story and I can’t wait to see the next lady who catches herself a Valentine brother
4.5 stars – more depth and such a sweet couple!
This is my favorite one of the series so far and this one had more depth and storyline to it as well.
Banks was a royal a-hole in high school and reading those scenes just about broke my heart. Candy put up with way more than she deserved to.
Now they are both adults and are finding it harder to ignore the chemistry between them. When Candy goes on the rodeo circuit with Banks – things really heat up.
These two were so sweet together. I really enjoyed their story. Banks is my favorite Valentine so far!!
Blurb is a little misleading, so you’ll find this one isn’t quite the story that you probably will expect. In both good ways and tragic ways.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
It all started at school, Candy was not a follower, she did her own thing and people didn’t understand her. When she thought she had a date with Banks, it turned into a disaster. Just one night and it changed her life.
Banks had a jacked up childhood. How could you not fall for this family? They lived with horror and it changed each one of them. He regretted things that he said and did in the past. He’s an adult now and wants Candy in his life. Will she be able to let him in? Will she be able to tell him her secrets?
This book, just like all the others that this author writes had me laughing and crying. This one had me swooning too!!!
I am loving all of these Valentine men and Chute Yea is the perfect addition to this series!
How can you not love a hot, bull riding cowboy? I know I can’t but Bank Valentine is all that and so much more. He is sweet and is definitely attracted to the unique and sassy Candy Ray Sunshine, but their relationship has not been all happy and sweet. As teenagers they definitely were at odds and Banks broke Candy’s heart which drove her into a situation that changed her life. The good thing is that people grow up and can change and now Banks and Candy have been given another chance!
This book was definitely an enjoyable story with characters you will love! So, I hope you take a chance on this book and enjoy their journey as much as I did.
This is the 3rd book in this phenomenal series and is Candy and Banks’ story. These two had a major crush on each other in high school until an event left Candy with a lot of animosity towards Banks. This is a well written story which is filled with off the chart’s chemistry, drama, secrets, forgiveness, and is a steamy, entertaining, humorous and all-consuming read which pulls at the heartstrings throughout. I highly recommend for all.
