Candy Ray Sunshine—Yes, that is my real name, thank you very much, Mom and Dad—knew two things. One, she was going to work her butt off and open her very own coffee shop, even if she had to die doing it.Two, Banks Valentine was the world’s worst ex-boyfriend in the history of ex-boyfriends. Even if they were only boyfriend and girlfriend for one evening. She wouldn’t sneeze on him even if he was … if he was on fire.
Banks Valentine also knew two things.
One, he was an immature jerk when he was in high school, and Candy Ray Sunshine probably could open a coffee shop if she put her mind to it. But he still thinks that she should shoot a little higher, anything that gets her the heck out of Kilgore, Texas.
Two, he likes riding bulls. It’s a dangerous job, and when he gets on the back of one of those thousand-pound death machines, he can finally feel his head clear enough that he can think.
Candy and Banks would never get along. Not after what he said, and definitely not after what she did.
Then again, neither one of them expected that night to end the way it did, either—the night that both of them refused to talk about the next morning.

I’ve read all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, and I’ve been along for the entire ride as she’s built this fictional world in East Texas. The tragic story of the Valentine family is one that stuck with me through many other characters’ stories, and I’ve waited patiently for Vale to get around to telling these boys’ tales. It’s been worth the wait. Lani could have gone in a lot of different directions with the Valentine Boys, but she’s opted to make their stories, thus far, lighter and happier by letting their tragic history speak for itself but allowing the adult Valentine men to heal and move on to more joyful futures. I think this was exactly the right way to go with these stories, and I’m really loving this series.
Banks Valentine, a Wranglers-and-chaps-wearing bull rider, and Candy Ray Sunshine have a complicated, painful history going back to high school. The worst experiences of both of their lives happened on the same night. Two very different events, but unfortunately, Banks unintentionally played a role in Candy’s incident. Fast forward to the present, and the torch they both carried for each other back then is still burning. They had plenty of issues to overcome, but that chemistry always present between them still sizzles. Candy has healed and moved on from her traumatic past, and I loved how determined Banks was to earn her trust, atone for the past and love her. This couple was so sexy together, and once Candy opened her heart to Banks, they were so supportive of each other and so right for each other.
Chute Yeah was full of feels, and Lani used all that emotion to turn heart-break in happily ever. I loved everything about Banks and Candy’s sweet and sexy second-chance love story. Five smooches from me for Chute Yeah by Lani Lynn Vale!

I knew going in that I was going to love Banks and Candy’s story. First because Lani Lynn Vale wrote it. Secondly because this series has been great. But mainly because the tension between them was palpable in Crazy Heifer, I just knew it was going to be amazing when it exploded.
What I didn’t know was how much my heart was going to break for Candy. I thought the drama between her and Banks was normal dickhead, egotistical, teenager boy behaviour from when they were in high school carried over into adult animosity. I had this assumption that he had messed up and she had held a grudge. And I figured he would grovel and voila smoking hot chemistry explodes. Boy was I wrong. Candy broke my heart and made me love her for all that she went through and how beautifully she dealt with it.
There was so much more to this story than I anticipated. And I loved it. I loved that Candy was the awesome person that she was. And I really loved that Banks had grown up and realised that she was everything he wanted. They were so sweet together and that epilogue just killed me. I loved it so hard. And now I can’t wait to get Darby’s book next.
Witty, steamy, and emotional – this book has it all!
4.5 Stars
When I picked up this book I did not expect that my heart would hurt so much in the first couple of chapters. As the book went on my heart mended but wow, this book definitely packed a punch I did not expect. I really enjoyed this story and I loved watching Banks and Candy give in to their tension.
This book had me laughing at time, as always with a book by this author. I really love the little things at the start of each chapter, they are always something funny and never cease to make me laugh. I love the Valentine guys and I can not wait to read Darby’s book next!
Again, Lani Lynn Vale has written a book that captures your heart in one swoop. I love how real her stories are, not sugar coating. Everything is real, and raw, and beautiful. I am so ready for more.
These Valentine boys really know their way into a woman’s heart and Banks certainly wormed himself into mine!
Banks and Candy knew each other in high school. He was the most popular guy in school while she was the token goth girl that never fit in. They also had huge crushes on each other that really didn’t get a chance to go anywhere because in one night, not only did Banks torpedo her self worth, she suffered a horror that no one should ever have to endure. One night turned Candy’s crush into hate and that animosity grew in the years to follow.
And then Banks, being Banks, quickly got underneath Candy’s skin, forcing her to come to terms with everything that happened. Giving her the chance to show him how his immaturity had changed her life. Allowing them to move past it and open up about their affection for one another. Lani Lynn Vale delivered a tale that had a bit of heartbreak and a ton of romance. It was so easy to enjoy the journey these characters were taking. From their frenemy past to their barely cordial new beginning to their fake relationship to their fall into love. Throw in some bucking bulls and incredible banter and you’ve got an entertaining read that will be impossible to put away.
I keep telling y’all. If you’re looking for a fantastic read, LLV never lets you down!
Loved Candy and Banks. Perfect book during this crazy time we are in, you laugh so much with these two antics. These two have known one another since high school and everything hasn’t always been nice between them. But after finding out Banks been having troubles on the rodeo circuit, Candy steps in to help. And since there has always been chemistry between them that chemistry intensifies now that they have to spend so much time together.
I would definitely recommend reading this book and the others in this series if you have not.
Oh how I love these Valentine boys, Banks is so cute and sexy and he’s head over heels in love with Candy, overall I love everything about the book, well done author Lani Lynn Vale.
I did not expect this book to be so emotional but it gripped my heart from the beginning. Banks and Candy have a tremulous past that is heartbreaking. We know what the Valentine family endured but hearing Candy’s story was heartbreaking. I adore how these Valentine boys are so sweet, charming, so protective. I honestly love this series. This was a heartfelt, endearing, and charming story. Loved it!
Book 3 in Valentine Boys by Lani Lynn Vale
I love that all theses book have the main characters hating each other.
Banks is a Valentine boy that is a bull rider and compete when isn’t working on the family farm. Candy Ray Sunshine is the weird goth girl from high school that asks Banks out to school prom and when she gets there is totally humiliated in front of everyone. That night was just being humiliating but horrific and Candy never told anyone.
Candy’s donkey really likes the Valentine land and keeps escaping, Banks brings her back and sparks fly.
I absolutely love this book and it might be my favourite. Sebastian York did are amazing job but Maxine Mitchell narrating Candy Ray painkiller reaction and post dental procedure is absolutely hilarious.
Loving this series can’t wait to find out how Darby book goes.
Banks Valentine doesn’t regret much in his 2+ decades of life…one of his regrets is hurting Candy Ray Sunshine when they were in HS. Now the famous bull rider is trying his best to make amends. When his family suggests that he and Candy pretend to be together to fend off the ‘buckle bunnies’, Banks doesn’t resist. Candy loves her bakery but it’s not what she initially envisioned. Now with her dad requiring surgery, Candy has to pitch in running their construction company. She doesn’t resist much when asked to pretend to be with Banks…seeing as she’s always had a thing for him. This is another fun book in the series. Looking forward to Darby getting his comeuppance.
This has been my favorite out of the Valentine Brothers series. It was a great fast read! I loved that there was no unnecessary drawn out drama. I loved Banks and Candy together! I would definitely recommend this book!
Received and arc for an honest review
Those Valentine Boys! What a hoopering, hollering, hot, sexy, mess they are and we can’t help but love them.
Candy Ray Sunshine! Gotta love the name! That alone should make one happy! And she is but then there is always that one person that can just get under your skin, Banks Valentine. Yep, one of those Valentine’s!
Get ready to watch these two create some havoc before they find their way home to each other. Once again, a great book by Lani!
I’m loving The Valentine Boys series…
Chute Yeah is Callum and Candy Ray’s book and it was a really great, fun read.
They went to school together and while they each like the other they acted in very different ways. He was thoughtless and cruel on the worst tonight of her life, which then happened to be the worst night of his!!!
Candy has every reason to want to avoid Callum but due to work she seems to be unable to, which for her isn’t a good thing. Callum, not realising the reason why she’s trying to avoid him and the hurt he caused is determined to get to know her and see if he can get past her defences.
Callum has definitely grown up due to what has happened in his life and the responsibilities he now has and Candy has gotten herself to a place where she’s kinda happy, because of her determination and strength of character.
I loved these two together – and Lani Lynn Vale makes it nigh on impossible to pick a favourite brother when it comes to these Valentine boys…
Love this series and these characters. They are so entertaining and funny.
I love anything my Lani Lynn Vale, this book was no different.
I loved hearing about Banks and Candy Ray, and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Chute Yeah is the third title in the Valentine Boys series, featuring Banks Valentine and Candy Ray Sunshine. It’s an engaging and entertaining enemies to lovers romance. Candy and Banks have a history that began in high school. Both are survivors, having survived horrific events in their teenage years.
Candy Ray Sunshine is sassy, yet down to earth, and resilient and strong. Banks was quite the surprise to me. As expected he was a protective alpha, but not the stoic and serious man of the previous titles. He’s quite flirty and fun, honest and fearless when it comes to being on a bull.
A humorous and heartfelt story of forgiveness, family and friendship and I cannot wait for the next instalment in The Valentine Boys series.
At the start of this story, I was so worried that it would take both Banks and Candy a while to get to their HEA but they are both such strong characters that they didn’t leave me hanging. They were great right from the start. My heart hurt for both of them, and what they had to go through, but I feel like it made them so much strong characters. There was great banter between the two one them and all the other characters. Understanding and also acceptance on both parts. It was a pretty tame story when it came to drama and perfect for a weekend (or anytime with everything that’s going on in the world). These Valentine boys are truly amazing and the women they end up with…. just as great. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Sweet! This time there were no criminals, nor psychotic women stalking the characters. This was just one sweet love story that starts with a dual tragedy on their prom night and ends in a happily ever after.
Candy Ray Sunshine was one of those goth girls, always dressed in black, trying to be invisible in high school. Banks Valentine was one of the popular guys, a star in the rodeo circuit. Candy acted like she hated him, but she really had a crush on him. He sneered at her all the time, following the peer pressure of the popular crowd, who were always poking fun at the goth girl.
On the night of the dual tragedy, the life of both kids changed, and it was years before they saw each other again. Banks came back a quiet man, and Candy was a business owner who never hesitated to express her hate for him. He’s the one who crumbled first and asked for a cease of war and she acceded. And from there she went on to become his fake girlfriend and shield him from the buckle bunnies!
There were no mysteries to solve and no family problems. Just fun and steamy scenes and a couple who were already half way to being in love and just needed this opportunity to finish getting there. I’m loving these Valentine boys stories, and mostly because they overcame a horrible event and came out changed but functional. They are quiet among townsfolk, but among themselves they are loving and funny.
As always, LLV’s stories are full of family and warm hearted feelings, entertaining and funny with bits of spicy steam. I read it in one day, it was that enchanting!
I don’t usually prefer cowboy romance. But every time Lani Lynn Vale write them, I definitely need to read them!
One night changed both Banks and Candy’s lives. Years later they met again, but now they’re adults. These two have really been hurt in the worst way possible. But Candy seemed to get over the hate for Banks fairly easy and Banks has always liked her, he just did not know how to deal with his emotions. This time around, they know what they want and it’s each other and they’re going to get it this time.
As I said, the hate thing between them is not so apparent as Candy got over it easily and give him second chance almost immediately, so you don’t really see the hateful angst.
In high school Banks Valentine was the popular boy everyone wanted to be around and Candy Ray Sunshine was the weird goth girl. Candy took a chance on Banks only to have it backfire on the same night that Bans life changed forever. Years later the animosity that Candy holds for Banks is still there and now that she is partners with his sister in law with their coffee/bakery shop he is back in her life. Push comes to shove and Banks gets a second chance with Candy. He is stunned when Candy comes up with an idea to keep his fans at the rodeo away, but Banks as seeing this as an opportunity for a fresh start with Candy will she feel the same?
This was so unexpected, not what I imagined when I read the teaser on the last book. Candy Ray is fantastic and is one of my new favorite heroines. Banks I liked a lot, he is different then what I thought and this book blew me away. Fantastic, my favorite in the series so far.
