One thing a reader will quickly notice, aside from the very well written story, is lots of action and a good deal of emotional impact to the reader who is reacting to what is going on. The environment and events are detailed to the point of almost seeming real. The twists and turns in the action keep the reader eagerly moving forward in the story. And I don’t mind saying that I had quite a few tingles up and down my spine as I read some particularly uncomfortable passages.
I think that if the reader enjoys cyberpunk, this series will be very satisfying! The writer is very skilled at his craft, which will be immediately noted from the very beginning all the way through to the end. This is not a quick read – it will draw the reader deep into the book. But it is very well done and won’t fail to leave a lasting impression.
He is stuck on a dying planet while his partner is on earth trying to bring back the dead. Each will have to deal with danger and uncertainty to get what is needed. Can they find what they need? Can they achieve what is needed? See if they can

A captivating storyline was well written and the characters were well thought out filled with passion that had me hooked certainly entertaining and in awe
Megacorps, technological slaves, and high tech weapons. Must be cyberpunk.
This is book three in the series and it is highly recommended that you read them in order. Otherwise, you won’t understand the full impact of the “now.”
Calling is cyberpunk, though, just doesn’t say enough. This is pure SF action at its best. The story is incredibly well written with twists, turns and blind alleys galore, all of which keeps you on your feet just as it does our heroes. The characters are well developed, smart, tough and yet human at the same time. You feel their triumphs and pain as your own for you are truly sucked into the story. Make sure you don’t need any sleep because once you start, you will have a heck of a time putting it down. One action packed read that is well worth your time.
Highly recommended for all SF action junkies.

Cyberpunk is awesome! Who would have known? I didn’t. But I took a chance on a new genre and I went back after reading this to buy all of the previous books (#1 was free and #2 was 99 cents so I lucked out) and now I’m reading them because this is just such an awesome series. I deeply regret not having started this series with #1 but I’m glad I read. This author made me cry! I hate to cry. But it was worth it all.

Couldn’t wait for this one to come out and I was not disappointed. The author pulled out all the stops. Once I picked it up, I had a devil of a time putting it down. ‘Took it to work with me and had to hold my breath to avoid tearing up when we got to . . . you know . . . that part. Had to refrain from cheering a couple of times too.
The blend of human drama and huge fight scenes is not easy to get right, but once again Parry did it. There were at least two particularly good plot twists I did not see coming. You must read the book to understand it, but know things are often not what they seem and death isn’t always death. But sometimes it is. I like that about these books.
To repeat something I probably say every time I write one of these reviews—If you’ve come here wondering if Parry’s books are worth your time, the answer is yes (of course). But let me encourage you to start at the beginning of this series. You can start here if you want to, but it will mean more to you if you get to know the characters at the inception of their saga.
No Spoilers from me
Did you like Upgrade? You Need this then.
If you didn’t, go to the beginning and read this series.
Plenty of synopses above, but if you like sci-fi, you liked Terminator and you hated Voldemort then do yourself a favor and read these. The author is fresh, and writes great characters with a fun and twisted story.

Wonderful resolution to the series with a few loose ends to lead to another set of books, I hope. Parry builds his worlds and make you feel you are there. His characters are flawed, human, and believable, even the electric ones. Austin is the villein you love to hate, Sadie is a fierce force unto herself, and Mason is just the best hero there is. Even the supporting characters are clutching at my heart. Can’t get enough of this future world. Buy the series, you won’t be disappointed.
“Is this how we work? Do we wash our filth into everything we touch?”
A mind blowing experience!
Terrific! Surprisingly edgy and with a twist around every corner, the skilled and talented Richard Parry sets the reader on an unstoppable ride. Authentic, witty and compelling. I love the depth of knowledge in all his works, it makes the surreal become possible & opens our minds to the prospect of becoming trapped – even held hostage…a pleasure to read!
The whole story has a very cinematic feel, and it seems tailor-made for the big screen. If this series doesn’t get made into a movie someone should! Persistently riveting and masterly.
Once again, the author has written a superior novel, worthy of an award. Richard is a rare writer who can handle the challenges of dealing with future technology while touching the human heart, shedding a few tears and becoming emotional. I can’t avoid being pulled into the story, so engrossing and edge of the seat it is. This is a must-read!
We have most of the gang all here and they have most of their real body parts along with some intense modifications.
This is one author I have to be careful when I read in public because he can land a sucker punch and the next thing you are blinking like crazy to keep the tears from running down you face. Part of you realizes that since this is a war for humanity not all of those who fight will be around, doesn’t stop you from feeling that immediate sense of loss when it suddenly blindsides you when a character is just gone. You do mourn for them.
There are many twists and turn as with any Richard Parry book, plenty of flying body parts, lots of snark and an intense sense of family with this dysfunctional bunch. He plots many points on a map and sometimes it takes a while for everything to converge into a singular moment. He mixes the foibles of humans, with the exactness of machines to bring this story to somewhat of a happy for now feel. The losses were great for these battle weary veterans. They saved humanity at a great cost to themselves. They are grabbing a little bit of happiness during this temporary lull in hostilities.
This is a very intense read, with some very touching moments of self sacrifice and redemption.
