It’s 2150AD. Metatech enforcer Mike Takahashi’s vacation is off to a bad start. When Mike wakes on a slab, a bone saw a handspan from his arm, it’s all the confirmation he needs that someone is harvesting Metatech operatives for spare parts. Naked and weaponless isn’t the best way to start a break-out of a top-secret research facility, but Mike feels he has the right incentives to get the job done. incentives to get the job done.
Cut off from company support and hopelessly outgunned, Mike needs to escape. His ‘adventure holiday’ turns terrifying as Amsterdam’s nuclear reactor shakes the city. If it explodes and triggers an earthquake, millions will perish.
Mike must flee Amsterdam or die.

I’m totally enchanted with Parry’s work! Never have enough of it, be it the Tyche’s series or this Cyberpunk one! Richard’s got an exceptional and unique way with words, an original and creative way with descriptions of characters’ backgrounds, be them good or bad, a true Storymancer. Even his villains are great, you can’t avoid admire them. The social, emotional in-depth is grasping and compelling. Once I get pulled in this universe, it’s hard to get back to reality. Sometimes hardcore action, gritty, but always a touch of humour in the dialogue makes Parry’s books worth a read! I very much recommend all his books! Did I mention in any of my other reviews that Richard sits next to my favourites classic authors like Asimov, Clarke… and indies like Shepherd, Austin Dragon…Lea Gordon, and some more? Well, now you know!

This is one of three side stories from the new “Upgrade” remaster universe and it’s pure sci-fi adrenaline on paper (or ebook ).
It’s a great standalone story but even better when read as a part of the “Upgrade” series.
Not for our hero, anyway.
This is an SF action romp with lots of intrigue, guns, and explosions, all wrapped together in a solid story. This is book three in the series and while it can be read as a standalone (I did), it is better to read them in order. There is a lot of background detail that you are going to want (not need) to know.
The story is well written with strong characters who have depth along with mad skills. Do be warned that it is a bit of a page turner. Once you start, you will have a hard time putting it down and that felling doesn’t end when the book does. You will then want to pick up the next one and keep going.
Highly recommended.

It was quite good read sparks the imagination of the reader as they journey through their relationship and challenging scenarios.
He is shocked to wake up with a bone saw above his arm. Now he knows he needs to escape. He is naked and has no weapons. Can he escape? Where will be go? Can he find weapons and clothes? See how he gets on

When is a vacation a bad thing? When it’s really not a vacation but more of a demand from your boss to go check out some bad guys off the books. There are definitely no drinks with umbrellas or palm trees waiting for Mike when he lands. Instead he finds himself fighting for his life while trying to piece together some intel with a sexy voice in his head.
As they say things go from bad to worse at times and this is definitely the case for Mike as he must save the world, while avoiding ending up as one of the Metatech’s he’s come to find out about.
You get snarky retorts and blast everything that moves scenarios. There are some slower parts where you get to see a different side of an efficient killing machine but for the most part its explosions and one crazy bullet laden situation after the other. A great explosive read.
