Well this book is rather a quick read. The story was sweet. It had action, romance and the love of friends and family. My fellow readers, I enjoyed this book. Read it if you like short stories. Until next time, read forward.
Lady Emilia McDougal is looking out to sea making a wish when she espies a ship in trouble, she quickly lights the lamp in the lighthouse & rings the distress bell, she then rows out to help the crew of the strickened ship. An overloaded lifeboat capsizes as the final crew member is hauled into her boat she is captivated by a pair of blue eyes. Captain Jack Andrews lost his love of the sea long ago and he doesn’t deserve to find the love of his life. A charming story of two people finding love but their insecurities & past threaten to tear them apart. The characters are well fleshed & the pace is very good, I read this in one sitting
Love can be found in the most unusual places and sometimes it seems fate takes a hand. This is the case with Lady Emilia McDougal, who has no self esteem due to her beautiful sisters being married and she with no prospects. But as in most unusual situations, she is on the beach at her family castle when she rescues a Captain and some sailors from perishing when their ship tips in a storm. Captain Jack Andrews looks up and sees an angel as he is fished out of the water. As he spends time with Emilia, he sees a beautiful interesting woman and is immediately attracted to her. But he has some past secrets and feels unworthy of her affections. Emilia tries not to get her hopes up but feels a strong pull to Jack. A wonderfully written novella that warms the heart and gives hope to two souls who felt they did not deserve a lot out of life. In usual Tammy Andresen fashion, she always makes the characters and settings come alive. This is a story you do not want to miss!
“We’ll be married on Christmastide. You were my wish.”
A quick introduction to the upcoming Laird to Love series. Christmastide with My Captain is a complete and fulfilling holiday Scottish romance. Quiet, bookish Emilia is afraid she will be left alone in the Scottish castle as her sisters and cousins have all recently found love. Her caring and strength shows through when she saves a ship full of sailors off the beach of her family’s castle. It is here where she meets Captain Jack Andrews who is immediately attracted to her. He sees her as a woman to be valued and desired while she is feels insecure. Their courtship isn’t happening as he thinks he cannot provide the life she deserves. A visit to an ill relative convinces him build their future together. This is a well-written story and I loved the characters. A fun read that left a smile on my face. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
