After fleeing her beloved small town five years ago, Julia Bailey is back to spend Christmas with her family. Returning is hard, but keeping the devastating secret about her late husband is even harder. Her place isn’t in Big Sky Country any longer…but the more time she spends with the irresistible Sheriff who saved her once before, and his adorable little daughter, the more Julia starts … wishing she could let go of the past and start a new life.
Single dad and county Sheriff Chase Donovan had been secretly in love with his best friend’s wife for years. But after her traumatic loss he knew Julia needed to get away from Shadow Creek, even though helping her leave was the last thing he wanted to do. Now she’s home and he doesn’t intend to lose her a second time. Chase is going to prove to Julia just how good they can be together this Christmas…and forever.

I LOVED, LOVED Christmas with the Sheriff! It was one of those books that hooked you from page one and by God you were going to figure out what happened to this woman. After losing her family to an accident, Julia leaves Shadow Creek, and the man she’s always had feelings for, behind for the big city. Five years later, she’s back, and she discovers that at Christmastime Shadow Creek is still home, and so is Chase Donovan.
Chase Donovan has always carried a flame for Julia, since the very day they met. He’s big, he’s bad, he’s the sheriff, but he’s also sweet, comforting, sappy, broken by his ex’s desertion, and the best single dad Julia has ever met. He’s as lonely as she is, but together they barely make the shell of a person who could handle love.
But, it is Christmas, and instead of walking away, they start walking toward each other. He knows she’s afraid of loving and losing again, hell, so is he, but she’s lost more than him. He still has his daughter to hold in his arms. Determined to show her they’re all she’ll ever need, he sets out to make this the best Christmas she’s ever had.
The story was about family, true love, heartache, loss, grief, and the idea that sometimes the people we think we know, we don’t know at all, and the person we think isn’t for us, is actually the person put here for us. If you love family drama, romance, hot cops, and sweet little girls, then you’ll love Christmas with the Sheriff!
A happily ever after, feel good Christmas story.
This book developed a whole set of characters that were wonderful. The plot had a lot of twists and turns. The author took you through all the emotions that Jules felt from her losses and the fear that the unknown held for the future. A really good read! Eager for the next installment.
Coming home
Julia had to bury her husband and little boy. Chase was their best friend and helped her through it. Now 5 years later she finally coming back to visit her in laws and friends. She wasn’t the only one who left so did her brother in law Jack. But being back has been good for her. Chase has gone through a loose as well. His ex wife walked and left him to raise Maggie. Now he just has to convince Julia to stay and be with him and Maggie.
What a fantastic story. I was enthralled right from the very emotional beginning. The plot of the book was very well written. The story just flowed through my mind just like a movie. Maggie (Chase’s daughter) was an enchanting little one. I just wanted to hug her. Chase was a perfect male hero. His is strong and understanding and just so yummy!!! He has been in love with Julia since the first time he saw her in high school. Julia was a beautiful but wounded soul who marries another man (Chase’s friend). After tragedy strikes, Julia moves away for five years. She comes back at Christmas time to spend a month before going back to Chicago. Chase only has a few weeks to help Julia see that she needs to stay in Shadow Creek with him and Maggie. With Chase’s patience and love, it was wonderful to see Julia overcome her tragic past and move on. Make sure you have some tissues handy. There are a couple of scenes that may make you tear up.
This book has my favorite dual POV. That look into what the character is thinking and feeling at the moment really helps me to understand their actions.
I highly recommend this book. It will draw you into the wonderful town of Shadow Creek. You will want to move there (at least I do!!)
Julia has been gone from Shadow Creek, Montana for five years. She returns for the first time, since she buried her husband and son, to visit her in-laws for the holidays. This is an emotional read that will have you flipping the pages to see what she learned after Michael’s death and to see if she is able to have a relationship with Chase, the hot sheriff. I won’t leave any spoilers, so grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with this small town series.
Excellent Christmas Story about overcoming tragedy through the love of family and friends. As well as the healing power of love.
