After fleeing her beloved small town five years ago, Julia Bailey is back to spend Christmas with her family. Returning is hard, but keeping the devastating secret about her late husband is even harder. Her place isn’t in Big Sky Country any longer…but the more time she spends with the irresistible Sheriff who saved her once before, and his adorable little daughter, the more Julia starts … wishing she could let go of the past and start a new life.
Single dad and county Sheriff Chase Donovan had been secretly in love with his best friend’s wife for years. But after her traumatic loss he knew Julia needed to get away from Shadow Creek, even though helping her leave was the last thing he wanted to do. Now she’s home and he doesn’t intend to lose her a second time. Chase is going to prove to Julia just how good they can be together this Christmas…and forever.

Sweet love story without a bunch of explicit sex scenes.
Such a wonderfully written story.
Sweet love story
Fun read, light and as always hea!
Enjoyed reading.
An emotional, rewarding read. Loved the two lead characters and the connection between them!
Wow!! Can you say tear-jerker. Being a mom, myself this really hit home and I’d be lost without my babies. I couldn’t put this book down and finished it within 24 hours of starting it. The love, the passion, the fear you could feel it all with this book.
This was a quick read for me but I was pulled in from the start. This is about the struggles Julia goes through after the death of her husband and son. Chase never let on about his feelings for Julia because her husband Michael was his best friend also. Chase was marries but he is now raising his daughter Maggie alone. The struggles throughout the story are so real. A well written and perfectly paced story. Cannot wait to read the next in this series.
Pleasant, easy read and just in time for the holidays.
This was an alright read
Great reading
Good plot with a little romance on the side
Sweet story about overcoming tragedy.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Loved the characters, especially Maggie’s humor. I will read other books by this author in the future.
Cute easy community setting leading to other novels, I like that
This story was a great mix of bittersweet loss and new beginnings. The strength and effort Julia expounded in trying to start over from such a devastating loss pulled my heartstrings, while the patience and silent love Chase provided Julia melted my heart on the spot! I really loved how Julia clicked into Chase and Maggie’s little family unit like she’d always been there! The tingling attraction blended wonderfully with family dynamics, and I was thrilled to have a bit of closure from the epilogue provided in the author’s newsletter!
Starts as a tear jerker…but ends as a hea.
This was a very enjoyable and a fun read!
Enjoyed this one!
The prologue gave me the hint of an awesome read ahead and it did not disappoint. The description of grief is spot on. Wonderful descriptive writing that flows into the story, not take away from it. The two main characters attraction comes off the pages. They are meant for each other. Julia is scared to get her heart broken again but Chase and Maggie make her whole again. Chase, despite having his own heartbreak and challenges, is someone everyone can depend on and makes everything work. It’s somewhat of a tear-jerker; has death, heartache, healing, laughter, love, small town charm, and an adorable little girl who steals the story. A wonderful Christmas romance read.
