From the author:
Westwick Corners isn’t your typical small town. Or even a normal ghost town. It’s where people go not to be found, and witches go to work their magic without attracting too much attention. The combination makes from some interesting and humorous mysteries, and the witches are always at the center of the action!
Ruby’s cooking, Cendrine’s amateur sleuth and investigator activities, and Aunt Pearl’s magic school are always looking for that one secret ingredient that will propel the witches to fame and fortune and put the small town of Westwick Corners back on the map again. The witches are forever cooking up new business opportunities like The Westwick Corners Inn, The Witching Post Bar and Grill, and of course, Pearl’s Charm School, where witches go to unravel riddles, spin magic spells, and create their own witch mysteries. Too bad they are forever getting distracted because there are always strange things happening in Westwick Corners, from petty crime to murder.
The West family has always been in Westwick Corners and always will be. They descend from a long line of witches who have inhabited Westwick Corners from the beginning.
Witches who unlock mysteries, solve crime, and help those in need. They are collectively a kind of a witch of all trades, because pitching in–or is it witching in– is what you do in a small town. Everyone helps out. Even Grandma Vi the ghost investigates and sleuths. But when everyone pulls together, it’s not always in the same direction! If you like a good puzzle, a good laugh, and a good witch mystery series, you’ll love these cozy mystery books!

This book was every bit as good as I imagined it would be. Even though I started in the middle of the series, I wasn’t lost as the story. The characters were all very well fleshed out. There’s humor, drama, angst, and of course, mystery. Our MC really went on an emotional rollercoaster between the drama of her family and the raging snowstorm outside.
Narration was wonderfully done making it easy to distinguish between characters. She really helped to bring the piece to life by giving each character their own distinct “voice.”

This is the 4th book in the Westwick Witches Cozy Mysteries. It is a standalone story with no cliffhanger ending. You do not have to read the prior books in the series to understand the characters or their motivations.
Here, Cen is looking forward to a quiet Christmas with her boyfriend [the Sheriff] but a blizzard has caused him to work. Her hotel is now full of various guests her Aunt Pearl, who is normally antisocial, has invited over for the holidays. Soon after one of the guests eats Cen’s mother’s Christmas cake – she drops dead. The only suspects is everyone in the house so the finger pointing starts…
This was a fun mix of a cozy and some magic. I like that Cen is a reluctant witch but most of all, I enjoy the chaos that Aunt Pearl causes. There was never a dull moment as the investigation progresssed to determine if the death was a murder and if so, who did it – plus Cen has a go at casting spells – which is a complete crapshoot for her.
I listened to this book – the narrator does a great job voicing all of the various characters and her comic timing.
Christmas Witch List: A Westwick Witches Cozy Mystery
Westwick Witches Cozy Mysteries, Volume 4
By: Colleen Cross
Narrated by: Petrea Burchard
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is my favorite so far! I still find Aunt Pearl super annoying but the story was a good mystery. Who doesn’t like a mystery with a snowed in group of people out from everyone. The power blinking in and out… then someone dies.. who killed them?
Great narration too!
All I Want For Christmas . . .
I’ve been following this series on audiobook, quite deftly narrated by Petrea Burchard, and have watched Cen become ever so gradually more adept at spells and witchcraft. Like Samantha in “Bewitched,” she rather considers it cheating to use magic for things she can do herself (no, wait, that was what Darren thought). However, each story so far could easily stand alone, so if this is your first introduction to Westwick, you will feel right at home. This Christmas pageant introduces you to some South Pacific lore–based on historic events!–as magic is overcome by old-fashioned greed and guile.
Audiobook review: Shenanigans, a crazy family, a blizzard, surprise guests, and an unexpected death combine for a comedic mystery. As much as Aunt Pearl would drive me in sane, I enjoy the chaos she brings. The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book. It is such a charming little mystery that it keeps you guessing what is going on. This is book four and is just as good as the very first book and it doesn’t seem like the author is running out of plot ideas or mischief. What I like about this series is the characters themselves, they are so much fun and are usually behind the problems that cause so much chaos. You just have to love the aunties.
Cendrine plans for a quiet Christmas with her boyfriend and aunts don’t quite to plan. Her Aunt Pearl is up to something, it is not like her to be social let alone invite people around for a Christmas party. But not even Pearl could have planned the out come when they get trapped by a snow storm with a dead party guest. Not sure what killed her or even if it was an accident or murder everybody becomes a suspect. Santa had better check his list to see who has been naughty or nice. Either that or Cendrine might just have to use her rarily used magic to get to the bottom of this mystery.
I really liked the narrator, she used a different voice for each character, making it a very magical tale.
