Another magical story. If you don’t find the heavenly taste of chocolate magical. the paranormal activities that are always attracted to Magda, her friends, and their physic cats certainly are. This author writes great cozy mysteries, full of close friends, camaraderie, and good food.
A lovely story about Christmas traditions, paranormal cats and dogs, coffee shops and their specialty cookies and crime! Put that all together and mix well and there you have Olivia´s story. Easy to read and the descriptions of places and its Christmas ornaments are so vivid you can see them ! Lovely story at an emotional time of the year.
Christmas is a time for people to be together whether they be humans or ghosts-everyone needs someone so they aren’t lonely.
A spooky tale elicits a conversation at Magda’s cafe with a woman who tells her she is experiencing what the tale was about in her own life. This opening allows Magda and her friends to visit the woman and see if they can’t solve the sounds of “bumps” in the night for the lady. In doing so they encounter a little ghost girl and her dog. who aren’t causing the noises but are trying to protect the woman as best they can. Magda and her friends try to solve those noises and help the little girl as well.
Along the way there is a bank robbery and the psyche cat Crystal starts leaving clues for Magda and Sam to decipher perhaps leading to who pulled off the robbery. She finally decides, however, to take matters into her own claws to help catch the bad guys.
I recommend this book to young and adult readers alike for it brings home what this season and any other season is all about-Love! Wouldn’t it be a wonderful world if people everywhere would practice that one little concept in their lives! The world would be forever changed for the good!
What a fun Christmas-themed cozy mystery! Elves and trains are appearing everywhere. What could it mean? The writing is fresh and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered and filled with believable characters. It was a delightful read and I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
This is the first book I’ve read in the Chocolate Magic Cozy Mystery series, but I was able to follow the story just fine. I learned a lot about model trains, which was a bonus. The the characters are interesting and unusual. There are psychic cats who give hard-to-decipher clues and several people with the ability to see and/or talk to ghosts. The plot is twisty and held my attention the whole way. I’ll have to read the first book now.
I received an advance copy of the book and this is my honest review.
Christmas Spirits is a wonderful, magical addition to the Chocolate Magic Cozy Mystery series. Olivia Swift is at her best. Sam is finishing the addition and gift shop in Magda’s café. Magda is planning for Christmas with the addition of a model railway circling above the café guests, and readings of Christmas stories and poems. Excitement ensues with a bank robbery, a murder, and a haunted house. Spirits play in the recent and distant past, and the characters are likable and complex. They all contribute to the richness of the story, as well as the séances and psychic cats. The café train links to the railway station and old and new mysteries. The book is intricately crafted and quite delicious to read. By Christmas, happiness ensues and love is in the air.
Christmas is come to the Chocolate Shoppe. Magda and friends settle on Trains and Tales to entertain the folks, and many fun, and some spooky, stories and readings are shared
A little cal robbery nearby has a tragic end for one customer. Another customer has odd sounds under her cabin that turn out to be a couple busy spirits, and some other disturbers of the peace
Friends and family celebrate their connection, and another wedding is on the horizon- an exciting visit for friends from Ireland!
Much ado for our chocolate friends!
I really enjoy my friends Magda, Sam, and the rest of the gang. And now it’s Christmas! It does not get much better than Christmas Spirits from Olivia Swift. Ms. Swift has a gift of writing characters seem so real to me. Magda adds a Christmas train to the cafe and suddenly is interested in all things train. A customer hears very odd noises in her home so Magda and Sam agree to investigate. They discover a sad little girl and her dog. This book is filled with chocolate, trains, dogs, some criminals, a mystery and love. I highly recommend this mystery.
This is a wonderful Christmas cozy! I was happy to meet up with the characters again but this can also be read as a standalone. Psychic cats, a few spirits and a new found interest in trains keeps you reading as you find out about the little girl and her dog, who is trying to scare the homeowner, who committed the crime and all of the things going on at the cafe. Great story!

This was a delightful cozy. The main setting is a cute little chocolate shop that is adding a model train for Christmas. Love all the characters. There is a great group of friends that keeps expanding. The animals are adorable. This is just a little bit magic but not exactly paranormal, IMHO. Just whoo, whoo enough to be cute without being really scary. Regular humans are scary enough! Really enjoyed this.
