#1 New York Times bestselling author Sophie Kinsella returns with a festive new Shopaholic adventure filled with holiday cheer and unexpected gifts.“Funny, charming, and the perfect read to get into the holiday spirit.”—PopSugar ’Tis the season for change and Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is embracing it, returning from the States to live in the charming village of Letherby and working with her … charming village of Letherby and working with her best friend, Suze, in the gift shop of Suze’s stately home. Life is good, especially now that Becky takes time every day for mindfulness—even if that only means listening to a meditation tape while hunting down online bargains.
But Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents hosting, carols playing on repeat, her mother pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors coming ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch—unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados—and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?
Becky’s sister demands a vegan turkey, her husband insists that he just wants aftershave (again), and little Minnie needs a very specific picnic hamper: Surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend–turned–rock star and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear. But as the countdown to Christmas begins and her bighearted plans take an unexpected turn toward disaster, Becky wonders if chaos will ensue, or if she’ll manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas after all.

This book was, in one word, sprygge! A happy place, a comforting blanket, hot cocoa by the fireplace…
This is my favorite Shopaholic novel alongside the first book. The humor was off the charts, I chuckled almost at every page and, best of all, it was all wrapped in the Christmas spirit. Becky Brandon (neé Bloomwood) really comes back with a bang in this novel, she’s hilarious, most of the situations she gets herself into are incredibly funny, and being inside her head once more felt like seeing an old friend after a long time apart. Oh, dear, I have such a book hangover everything I’ll read after this doesn’t stand a chance. It’s so rare to find a book I completely adore like this one, but Christmas Shopaholic is one of the rare gems.
The emails, messages and Google searches at the beginning of the book and at the end of each chapter were such a special treat, I laughed my head off hysterically every single time.
On a final note, can we please get a spin-off story about Simon Millett? He’d be the most charmingly annoying leading man in a blue scarf.
Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) and Christmas! Two of my favorite things in one book. I don’t know why there hasn’t been a Christmas shopaholic novel before… but it’s been worth the wait. Becky’s antics transported me to the feeling of book 1 in the series, but with a touch of novelty in the world of online shopping… it was great to come back to the shopaholic family and laugh out loud with them one more time….
Becky Bloomwood is back! (Well, Becky Brandon, née Bloomwood.) This is classic Shopaholic fun with antics that are both outrageous and believable. Readers will cheer Becky on as she plans a family Christmas party – only for everything to go wrong. Can’t wait for more in the series!
Omg I laughed so hard. I love Sophie Kinsella’s writing, and this is my new favorite of hers. The best of her entire Shopaholic series and really, just an utterly perfect Christmas read. I loved it so much.
Yet another Becky Bloomwood book? Really? Really! Bring it on.
I don’t think I can tell you anything about Sophie Kinsella’s iconic series that you don’t already know, but here I go. This Christmas shopaholic extravaganza presents us with the adventures of our favourite heroine as she attempts to create the perfect holiday for her family and friends. Of course, nothing’s ever easy.
This story is packed with misunderstandings, shopping, familial chaos, more shopping, drama, and constant laugh-out-loud moments. You’ll be rooting for Becky to come out on top in the end and save the day. Will she? If you’re a Kinsella fan, you know the answer.
I laughed out loud so many times while reading Sophie Kinsella’s “Christmas Shopaholic,” book #9 in the continuing adventures of Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood. I have to admit that the previous two books in the series, which were set in Los Angeles, weren’t my favorite because they seemed to have lost some of the charm of the earlier books, so I was concerned that the series had run out of gas. However, “Christmas Shopaholic” was easily one of my favorite books of the entire series. It was sweet, funny, and completely heartwarming, and I found it to be a wonderful way to start getting into the Christmas spirit.
I have always loved Becky’s imagination, and it is on full display in this story. Ms. Kinsella’s vivid descriptions of Becky’s imaginings were a lot of fun, and I could see some of the scenes unfolding as if they were on a movie screen. I also loved the fact that the characters still managed to surprise me, even after so many books. A good example is Becky’s parents’ move to Shoreditch, which they seemed to love. I never would have expected that lifestyle to appeal to them, but apparently it did!
Finally, I adored the book’s ending because it left all of the characters in such a good place. As much as I love Becky and her zany band of family and friends, I wouldn’t mind if this is where the series ends. It’s hard to imagine how Ms. Kinsella could top this book!

I tried to go slow and take my time with this book, but it is hard not to jump back into the fabulous world of Becky as fast and as hard as I could.
I mean our favorite shopper around Christmas time…oh the shenanigans! You can’t just take your time when it is full of so many moments that had me laughing out loud. The sweet little things that reminded me of how good hearted Becky is and how she makes life for all of those around her just a little more interesting.
Well done on another fabulous book in the shopaholic world!
A new Christmas tradition
Seeing this title was a dream come true for me. Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) – our favourite shopaholic – and Christmas in the same sentence! I couldn’t wait to read this book. I love anything Sophie Kinsella writes, Becky is one of my favourite characters ever, so I knew it would be good; Ms. Kinsella hasn’t let me down yet. What I did not expect was that CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC would be that fabulous!
CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC should be mandatory reading for any author who aspires to write a great romcom. Becky has always been an over-the-top character, yet every one of us will see a bit of ourselves in this book. Who hasn’t freaked out around the holidays? Minnie – Becky’s and her husband Luke’s daughter – is no plot moppet, and a habit of hers is the cause of a hilarious plot twist, which I never saw coming. The same goes for Becky’s old university boyfriend; talk about unexpected turns of events!
Becky is a trifle more careful with her spending. More discerning. Sometimes. Not that often, but she tries, honestly she does! But with having to plan Christmas day, well, there’s the food – let’s not forget Becky’s sister who is vegan and against consumerism. The decorations, the tree: ethical? Local? Trendy? There’s so much shopping to do! The quest for the perfect presents for Minnie and particularly Luke proves to be exceedingly challenging for Becky to the reader’s utter and complete delight.
CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC had me laughing from page one, had me laughing throughout, and also made me shed a tear or two. There is not one boring paragraph in the whole book; it’s witty, ingenious, amazingly well plotted, there is tension, emotion; it’s simply fabulous. CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC was everything I hoped for and so much more. If you’ve ever read any Shopaholic books, you will want to read this one. If you never have, start here, you will not regret it because it is a great Christmas story as well!
This story was laugh out loud funny! Kinsella’s wit is unmatched. If you’ve read the previous Shopaholic books, you’ll love reconnecting with Becky’s charming and unique view of life. If you’ve not read any Shopaholic books, you’ll still love this one. Add it to your Christmas TBR pile. To my delight, the ending was remarkably touching and I shed a few tears. A book with lots of laughs and a moving ending cannot be beat!
A Shopaholic Christmas by Sophie Kinsella is a fun Christmas read. I love this series and the district voice of the narration. This book reads exactly like the others in the series, which makes it so fun for fans of this series. I do not think it should be read as a standalone novel. Yes, you could say a lot of things about Becky’s character being shallow and petty— but that loses sight of the book’s premise. This is not an an intellectual book. It’s a fun, crazy read full of shenanigans you’ll hardly believe. I loved it. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Becky loves Christmas – especially when her mother hosts it. This year, however, her mom and dad have moved to a new area and have asked Becky to host Christmas. This adds a bit of stress to her already busy life, with her job, her family and her habitual shopping. Christmas dinner has to take into account her vegan sister and brother in law and the various suggestions made by the invited guests. Then there is the gift list which must be procured keeping in mind that her mother’s friend always regifts her gifts and her sister is extremely ecologically minded. The stress begins to build and at one point everything seems about to go bust, but Becky winds up having a wonderful Christmas with her family anyway.
This was a delightful read. The characters are all funny and pretty realistic. Becky’s philosophy of shopping is hilarious and the story line kept me coming back to the book again and again. I strongly recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author Sophie Kinsella and the publisher Random House Publishing for a free digital copy of this very charming book. This is my honest opinion.
If you’re addicted to online shopping and love Christmas this one’s for you.
Sophie Kinsella “Christmas Shopaholic”
Sophie Kinsella does it again with another installment of this fun and amazing read that I needed to put me in my holiday mood. This was an absolutely funny and charming of a read that I really needed this holiday. Becky Bloomwood Brandon is back from the States and this time working with her friend Suze in the charming town of Letherby. In this eighth installment, our heroine is back and now Becky is focused on mindfulness and meditation. With the Christmas theme, and Becky hosting the traditions of Christmas, you already expect the joy she will bring to all. This shopaholic series never disappoints. Always full of humor and Christmas cheer, this book certainly did not disappoint. Kinsella is the queen of this series. Bravo!

Another laugh out loud and festive read from the queen of chick lit, Sophie Kinsella! I honestly can’t describe just how much I ADORE this series. It’s been my favorite since the beginning, and I am always tapping my nails in anticipation of the next one! Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) will forever be one of my favorite fictional characters and Sophie did this book JUSTICE.
I’ve had this book since it was released but have been waiting for the perfect time to read it. I’m so glad I waited too because this book encompasses EVERYTHING Christmas. Being one of my favorite holidays this book really fit. And, it made me smile from ear to ear while reading. Not only that, I was laughing my head off the entire time! Who knew so many catastrophes could befall in so little time? That’s just Becky’s luck though, right!? This poor girl has gone through so much and all she wanted was the perfect Christmas with her family. Beneath all the bad luck though her JOY and Christmas spirit shines through and Becky gets everything she dreamed of and me. It’s very uplifting!
Ladies, if you haven’t read this series you are missing out! It’s one of my favorite series ever written and I’ll forever be recommending it! I know some people think the books are shallow, but if you look deep inside Becky’s character, you’ll see a heart of gold and a person who only wants the best for everyone! So go forth and read this wonderfully funny series!
One of the best books I’ve read in the past six months. True. It is impossible to come off, even all plans for the evening were canceled several times because of the book. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you NetGalley and Random House for an advanced copy. I voluntarily reviewed this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Christmas Shopaholic
By: Sophie Kinsella
*REVIEW*
I have been reading about Rebecca Bloomwood for a long time. I have seen her character grow and change, a little bit, and I was glad to see the story continued. Rebecca, however, seems to be up to her old habits again with cringe worthy Christmas shopping. She has always been the queen of awkward situations, and I always find these books funny. Shopaholic is a delightful entertaining read that will make you smile with its quirky ridiculous characters. This is an excellent holiday romcom!
This is my first read in the Shopaholic series. It was amusing and funny. It’s a perfect read for Christmas as if you are not in the festive mood yet, it will get you there after reading Rebecca’s holiday antics.
Another fun read from Sophie Kinsella!
I wanted to like this book but didn’t really. I think it’s time to retire Becky. Her antics are getting a little old. She needs to grow up.
Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is the latest installment of the fabulous Shopaholic series featuring our ever loving, neurotic, endearing female character, Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood.
Becky is hilarious, high-strung, intelligent, flawed, yet is sweet, has a kind soul, and tender-hearted. One cannot help but love her and forgive her for her antics and for getting herself caught up in a whole array of shenanigans against her better judgement. I love the way she and her family care about one another, and I love the interactions between her and her husband Luke. It is obvious that she truly has Luke and Minnie’s happiness as her priority, yet somehow she gets caught up in a whole host of crazy situations, that just makes her an even better person then if she was “perfect”.
This was a great Christmas story and I LOVED the ending.
Great addition to the series. Bravo.
