This book was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the characters really made the story come to life. Who doesn’t like a book with a baby in it?
Nick Delaney got a call from a friend who needed his help. While on the phone he heard gun shots and his friend screaming before the line went dead. Nick asked Deputy Kaitlyn Lanz for her help finding his friend. As they drove up a mountain road, they came upon a car wreck where two men started shooting at them. Kaitlyn was a better shot than them so they soon took off. Nick’s friend was badly hurt and there was a baby in a car seat who, thankfully, was not hurt.
Nick wanted to take care of the baby for his friend. I loved how he tried so hard to handle the baby’s care, even when he didn’t know what to do most of the time. It didn’t take long for him to realize that some bad guys wanted the baby and they were willing to kill to get what they wanted. They even attacked Nick’s well-protected house several times. Deputy Lanz stayed at Nick’s house to help with the baby and keep Nick and the child safe. Why does someone want this three-month-old baby?
It was amusing to see two people who didn’t know much about caring for a baby, doing the best they could to keep the little one content. But the many attempts to come after them made things tense. I liked the romance that was beginning between Nick and Kaitlyn even when things were complicated. Overall this was a wonderful romantic suspense.
Awwww I love this book, it’s a holiday romance read spiced up with suspense.
This one is a mixed between enemies to lovers and suspense. It’s sweet and lots of actions and I can’t put it down once I start. It all started with shooting, attempted kidnapping and a baby, yes it’s not as simple as I thought it would be. There’s a big why unanswered at the end that bothered me, but I can ignore it with the love story between Kaitlyn and Nick going on around, in the end it’s an entertaining enjoyable page-turner read for me.
This book also has great characters, Deputi Kaitlyn is one badass woman, the one you can rely on when trouble’s knocking on your door, and Nick is a sweet man, I love how protective he is towards baby Rosie. These two are perfect fo each other.
Good story, great characters, yup love it and if you’re looking for a fast-paced light suspense romance read with holiday’s vibe, this is for you.
Wonderful book set during my favorite holiday! Highly recommend.
This is a Love Inspired Suspense book. I found it to be action packed and very unpredictable edge of seat reading. I liked how the chapters ended with a situation enticing readers to hurry on into the next chapter. Indeed it is very hard to put the book down. Great characters make the story come to life on the pages. Readers learn the gruelling task that law enforcement officers have to go though to keep law and order in their communities.
Nick Delaney gets a call from a friend who needs his help. He hears gun shots and his friend screaming before the call gets caught off. He seeks help from Deputy Kaitlyn Lanz and they drive up a mountain road in search of his friend. They come upon a car wreck where two men shoot at Nick and Kaitlyn. They are no match for the Deputy and flee the scene. Nick’s friend is badly hurt and they find a small baby strapped in a car seat, unhurt.
Nick takes temporary responsibility for the baby. But it doesn’t take long for him to learn that someone bad wants to kidnap the baby. They’re willing to kill in order to get what they want and the thugs aren’t discouraged easily. Again and again they attack Nick’s well protected house . Deputy Lanz stays at Nicks house to act as a protector. Why do they want this three month old baby and what do they hope to gain by kidnapping her? Will kaitlyn be able to hold the thugs off and keep Nick and the baby safe?

I really enjoyed Kaitlyn and Nick’s story. Kaitlyn knows Nick already as they live in the same town but she doesn’t like him. Nick is very wealthy and Kaitlyn assumes a lot of things about him. In her work in law enforcement, she has run across him and his family during certain cases before and although they haven’t done anything wrong, she doesn’t like the arrogance of wealth & its privileges. Nick likes Kaitlyn though and he’s tried to ask her out before – it’s gone nowhere! Kaitlyn doesn’t date – period. Something in her past in holding her back that no one knows. However, when an acquaintance of Nick’s crashes her car as she’s coming to see Nick and they discover a baby in the car, suddenly, Nick & Kaitlyn must find out why thugs are after that baby! Kaitlyn begins to see a whole new side of Nick as they dodge bullets and thugs finding them at every turn. Maybe she’s misjudged him all this time? There’s a lot of action in this story and I enjoyed all the secondary characters too! I especially enjoyed the way Nick threw himself into taking care of a baby when he had no clue as to what he was doing but gave it his best shot! A great book!
This was a Christian Suspenseful Romance and the first book I have read by this author. I was pleasantly surprised by the fun storyline and how well written it was. The characters were developed and easy to relate with. There was plenty of suspense and it was packed with action. I loved seeing how the hero and heroine that had never had experience with a baby approached caring for one. I would never have thought to look upon the web videos on changing a diaper! It was great seeing their concern and love grow for an orphaned child. Nick Delaney was a wealthy man with a reputation of being a player, but he has settled down in the small town of Bristle Township and trying to become part of the community. Deputy Kaitlyn Lanz feels the attraction to Nick but had been hurt in the past and refuses to allow him close but this Christmas she has no choice when he needs protection. While at the town’s Christmas party Nick receives an unknown phone call from a woman who sounds like she has crashed. Kaitlyn and Nick respond to the call and discover a friend of Nicks and her baby in a wrecked car. Nick promises to protect the baby but doesn’t have any idea of the danger he puts himself in. Protecting Nick gave Kaitlyn insight into the real man behind the reputation and his big heart. The action and twists and turns kept my attention until the end. I loved the fact that Kaitlyn was the “protector” and Nick was a strong enough man to allow her to do what she loves. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to future books by this author.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
2.5 Stars for this love inspired Christmas story!
This book was honestly kind of cheesy to me. Nick’s ex girlfriend calls in a panic – he hasn’t heard from her in years. He and the town sheriff, Kaitlyn go to check it out. They find the ex has been kidnapped but they left the baby! Nick decides to take the baby in – all to make Kaitlyn fall for him. That’s what it seemed to me, anyway. Then there’s the whole danger at every corner, explosions. Nothing seemed believable? There is a HEA if you’re after that. It was unfortunately just meh.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A single mother’s car crash brings Nick Delaney and Deputy Kaitlin Lanz together as they work to protect baby Rosie, from the people who it appears will stop at nothing to get to her.
A fast paced, and engaging suspense, with intriguing protagonists. I liked how the baby brought two unlikely people together as they work to take care of a baby girl, and keep her safe. Kaitlin works hard to keep proving herself as a capable officer, she is close to her family and is passionate about her job. Nick protects himself with his flirty persona, acting the part of a rich playboy, hiding a passion to make a difference.
Nick and Kaitlin both have their own protection mechanisms, through the walls they build and the images they project, but caring for a baby tears all that away. I liked how they came to trust each other, and solve problems in order to keep baby Rosie safe.
Overall, a fast paced and entertaining read, I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the strong themes of faith, family, and opening your heart to love. Definitely recommend to fans of romantic suspense!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book’s storyline was okay. I liked the Christian theme in this story. I liked Nick’s character. I liked Kaitlyn’s character. I loved Rosie. I liked the ending.
Deputy Kaitlyn Lanz was enjoying the town’s combination community Christmas party/retirement party for her former boss, Sheriff James Ryder. When she heard Nick Delaney come up to the ladder she was standing on to place her ornament on the community Christmas tree she was immediately annoyed when he tried to tell her where to place the ornament. She didn’t need his unwanted flirtatious attention to spoil the party for her. The sooner she could escape from his presence the better. The next time Kaitlyn saw Nick approaching she wanted to flee but then she noticed the stressed look on his face. He had just received a call from an old friend, Lexi Eng asking him for his help, then he heard a crash and gunfire. They both raced to Nick’s Humvee to investigate. When they found the location of Lexi’s crashed car two men were lifting her out of it and those two men greeted their arrival with gunfire. The gunmen sped off when backup arrived. In the backseat of Lexi’s car they found an infant in a car seat. An ambulance appeared and Lexi and the baby were rushed to the hospital. Lexi was in a coma in critical condition. The baby was checked out and was fine. Why were the two men after Lexi? Who sent them? Kaitlyn was determined to get answers.
Nick Delaney is second in line to inherit the Delaney billions. He has a reputation as a carefree playboy. For some reason Nick felt attracted to Kaitlyn Lanz from the first moment he met her. He knew about her reputation of not dating but he couldn’t help himself when he ran into her. He flirted outrageously with her. Things between them changed after they raced to the scene of his friend’s crash. For one thing baby Rosie came into his life. For another Kaitlyn was assigned to protect him and Rosie from the thugs who had previously attacked them and Lexi which meant they spent a lot of time together. Much danger swirled around them but despite of that Nick got to know and love Kaitlyn. Now to change Kaitlyn’s opinion of him…
Christmas Protection Detail by Terri Wilson is a super enemies to lovers story. This story definitely had me on the edge of my seat while I was reading it. The action was non-stop. Kaitlyn and Nick faced danger at every turn. The bad guys just weren’t giving up. I liked the protectiveness Kaitlyn and Nick felt toward each other. I also enjoyed seeing how Nick reacted to baby Rosie and how he adapted so well to care for her. This book was an exciting read.
This was a very fast-paced read with action that was almost non-stop. From the first page when Deputy Kaitlyn Lanz responds to a car crash outside the Delaney compound, the action and the interaction between the main characters begins. Nick Delaney is a multi-millionaire (by birth) and should be haughty and arrogant and unapproachable. However, he is none of those things. When his friend Lexi is critically injured trying to come to him to escape ruthless villains, he volunteers to take care of her tiny infant Rosie and vows to do all that he has to do to protect her. With car chases, ambulance rides, gate-crashing weapons teams and various other heart-stopping action scenes, this book is not your typical laid-back Christmas romance. The suspense was thrilling and the developing relationship between Kaitlyn and Nick was subtle and mostly hidden for most of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed how invested both of them were in protecting Rosie and in finding Lexi’s secret and turning it over to the authorities. There were multiple surprises in the book that definitely kept me glued to the pages. I highly recommend this book to those who like a lot of suspense and a little bit of Christmas thrown in.
