Love to read Christmas story add Debbie Mason and you know it will be awesome.
Loved Mallory, she has custody of her two stepsons,, who are not trilled to be living with her.
Gabriel, is single dad with three sons, he is Mallory’s neighbor and Police Chief.
Story about, family, friends and Christmas. I enjoyed a lot.
Mallory Maitland’s life definitely hasn’t turned out the way she ever thought it would. After the death of her mother her father abandoned her so with the death of her husband she knows she must do what she can to make sure her step sons never feel that way. Although she never thought she would Mallory returns to her home town in hopes of giving the boys a stable life. Her step sons aren’t making things easy for any of them but Mallory is determined to do right by her husband. Gabriel Buchanan is the police chief of Highland Falls but several of the older residents aren’t making his job easy. After the death of his wife he decided he needed to move his three sons to a small town where he would be less likely to get hurt on the job. He doesn’t have time for a relationship and worries that if he did get involved with someone what his mother-in-law might do. Mallory and Gabriel have instant chemistry but neither is looking for love. The two dance around their feelings, with so much to worry about who has time to start a new relationship? Life has a way of stepping in though and the two are thrown together again and again. Will either let go of their feelings and be open to new possibilities or will fear shut them down? Mason delivers a delightful romance that always brings her characters to life and has a way of pulling emotions from her readers. I always have a box of tissues next to me when I read one of her books because I know along with the laughter there will be a few tears.
I truly enjoyed the Christmas portion of this journey. Little Teddy was the star of this season with his tenacity and Teddy-Logic. He wanted to fix his family, that included fixing Mallory and her stepsons, and his Dad and brothers. That was the best feel-good, laugh out loud moments I found.
Gabe and Mallory, Idk, they just had no good luck, if it could go wrong it did, no backbone in either of them. There were some super serious issues mixed in, which had me fluxuating with my feelings on what this book was meant to be.
This small town setting did not give me the warm fuzzies. Dot and her gang were hateful old biddies, Gabe’s in-laws needed to be shot, speaking of which, I have a very hard time coming to grips with a shotgun that could leave A flesh wound, and not a ton of buckshot scattered all over.
I think, for me, it would have been so much better not trying to add so much slap-stick comedy in, mixed with child custody issues, which brings up a whole other issue regarding Oliver and Brooks.
I rated it a four simply because Teddy was wiser than all the adults, he got his wishes, and the HEA was a good feeling.

This is a fun story, perfect for getting into the sprit of Christmas. The chemistry between Mallory and Gabe is strong, but their reasons for not getting involved are just as strong. What they don’t bargain for, however, is the magic of Christmas that Gabe’s 5 year old totally believes in. Ups and downs, mishaps, good friends, family drama, and the wonderful town of Highland Falls make this an entertaining, heartwarming, and emotional book. I loved it!
This is the second book in the series of Highland Falls a really good story Mallory Maitland struggles to take care of her two stepsons her late husband‘s boys when they get in trouble again she meets the chief of police gave me a Buchanan who is a widower A nice romance with a Christmas twist very realistic nice to pass the time hope to be more in the series
Every time I read a Debbie Mason book I think this has to be the best one yet. This is no exception. Once I picked it up and started reading it seemed like I was there. I became a member of the little town and couldn’t help but be pulled into the story.
The cast of characters were awesome and the words came alive on the page. A must read for the holidays. Another great book by a woman who can tell a story so well that you think you are part of it. Kinda hated for it to end, now I miss the characters.
Christmas wishes, mistletoe kisses, hope, faith, the magic of the season, a little help from above, and a HEA. Mallory and Gabe are both single parents. Mallory is caring for her two stepsons, who are less than thrilled with the situation. Gabe has three sons. Teddy is the youngest, and he believes in Santa, Christmas, wishes, and everything good. Although there is an attraction between Mallory and Gabe, they go back and forth with wishing things could be different and realizing it can’t go any further. Both of major family issues and risk losing custody of their boys. Can the magic of the season, help from the community, and true love bring them together?
I received an eARC of this book via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.
It is no secret that Debbie Mason is my go-to author this time of year. Her holiday romances have set the bar high for me. I love her small town settings and typical contemporary romance tropes. Christmas on Reindeer Road is Mason’s newest release and one of my favorites. Following two single parents as they navigate the busybodies of their small town, this book is sure to leave even the grinchiest heart smiling.
Mallory Maitland was first introduced in Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge as the recently widowed aunt of the bridezilla featured in the book. Now after months in legal battles, Mallory’s late-husband’s affairs have been left with his first wife and his sons are hers. Barely ten years older than her new stepsons, Mallory is in over her head yet determined to give the boys a home and the love she knows they desperately need. I love Mallory! My heart broke for her over and over again. Her compassion and need to show the boys that she wanted them and they were loved is truly all I needed to know that she was a fantastic human being. While she is fighting for the boys, Mallory herself doesn’t believe that she is worthy of the love she doles out. She’s built a wall around herself that is hard to breach.
Chief of Police Gabriel Buchanan was taken by Mallory when he met her last Summer, but he isn’t quite ready to give his heart away again. Losing his wife in a car accident several years prior, Gabriel is a single dad just doing the best that he can. With three boys of his own, he easily recognizes the struggle Mallory is having with her stepsons, but he also recognizes her heart for the boys. When her custody of them is challenged, Gabriel is quick to step in and help her where he can. His new neighbor is worming her way into his heart whether he wants her too or not.
The plot of this one is quite simple. Mallory wants to use the magic of Christmas to bring some cheer and love to her stepsons in any way she can. What she doesn’t count on is that they are teens and not really into Santa and his elves anymore. Gabriel’s youngest also has a plan. He plans to save Christmas and his little family by finding a mom, and he has his eyes set on Mallory.
Overall I adored Christmas on Reindeer Road. It has the right amount of over-the-top sweetness mixed with those steamier swoon-worthy moments. Gabe and Mallory are a sweet, opposites attract couple. And I ADORE all their boys. Each and every one of them, even the surly teen, wormed their way into my heart. If you enjoy holiday romances, be sure to add this one to your shelf this season.
Mallory is not sure what she has signed up for. She just got custody of her two step-son, she agreed to take on a new job, and that means moving back home to her childhood town. Where she does not have a happy childhood past, and the step-sons are beyond annoyed that they are moving from the big city, and that they were taken out of their England boarding school. And they hate her, everything is her fault- so it appears.
Gabe, newer Chief of Police of Highland Falls usually has a pretty low key job, but when Mallory and her good for nothing step-sons show up, action happens and it reminds him of what he misses when he was an NYC homicide detective, but a family had other plans and so here he is.
The two of them, having met the summer before and under not well circumstances, is once again brought together. This time it is not Mallory causing the trouble, but some in town are not happy to see she is back, or to hear she is heading up the senior project. How can she think she can possible handle that position, being she hasn’t lived in this town for years and she is from a big city. Things are handled different in the small towns.
As Mallory and the step-sons try to integrate into Highland Falls, it seems it is one thing after another and it either involves Mallory or Gabe and some how the other also gets tangled in the situation. Can the two of them, being looked at as both outsiders pull of proving they belong here and are meant to do nothing but help the quaint little town out, or will they be driven out as others continue to meddle in things.
Thank you at Forever Publishing for the free book. It was an easy, fast paced read, with a bit of suspense sprinkled through out, and the meaning of Christmas through out the theme.
This was a DNF for me. The story starts off with Mallory and her stepsons. They are complete brats and instead of calling them on their attitudes Mallory lets them walk all over her. Within the first 2 chapters I already can’t stand the heroine, she was weak and didn’t stand up for herself. There are things that are being referenced that happened in the past, but I didn’t read the previous books in this series, so I had no clue what the author was talking about. The people from the town seem very judgmental and I didn’t read the rest to find out if that changes. I really loved Christmas in Harmony Harbor, but this one didn’t pull me in the way that one did. I will be checking out this author’s other work though.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
This was an endearing and heartfelt Christmas story. Love is the reason for the season as they say, and this story proved it. Mallory Maitland wants her stepsons to experience the magic of Christmas. Their neighbor Gabe Buchanan’s youngest, Teddy, wants that for his family too. Teddy’s also looking for a new Mom. This is definitely such a charming story. I’m so glad I picked it up to read this season.
Although I love a Debbie Mason story any time of the year, I especially look forward to her Christmas release for I know I’ll be getting a romance full of love and the wonder of the Christmas season… and I found all of that and more in Christmas on Reindeer Road, the second title in the Highland Falls series.
We briefly met Mallory and Gabriel in Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge, and we’ll get another glimpse into Abby and Hunter’s lives now (that’s something I always enjoy no matter the series). You don’t “have” to have read the first book in this series to understand Mallory and Gabriel’s story, but it is delightful as well, so if you can then I’d suggest going back for Hunter and Abby’s story.
Mallory and Gabriel are both facing similar family situations this Christmas season, although not exactly the same there are certainly good reasons for them to hesitate to get romantically involved with anyone right now. Mallory’s step-sons do not want to be heading to her hometown to live and they make no bones about their anger toward her. Their deceased father’s estate went to his first wife, leaving nothing for the boys to continue their boarding school lives and they are not happy about that… to the point of making false accusations that will hound Mallory for a very long time.
As the new police chief, Gabriel is ready to settle down comfortably with his sons far from the hectic life in New York. Yet, his sons are acting up, and his former mother-in-law is trying to gain custody of his sons – something his deceased wife would have never wanted and certainly something that Gabriel will do everything in his power to prevent. So, while the sparks of interest and attraction fly between Mallory and Gabriel they certainly have a lot on their plates, to begin with, and adding a romance will only complicate an already unnerving situation for them both. But then, emotions like love don’t care one bit about complicated now do they?
There were moments of extreme happiness and others of annoyance and anger that overwhelmed me. Mallory’s stepsons and Gabriel’s in-laws — more than once I wanted to have stern words with them all individually.
Christmas on Reindeer Road gave me everything I love about the Christmas season within a situation that wasn’t easy but also didn’t get in the way of true love finding its way in the end. We also get to run into familiar faces as we celebrate the Season, watch two people fall in love, and watch two families merge into one that works. If you’re in the mood to start your Christmas Romance reading then this one is a great way to begin.

MY REVIEW
Wow just wow !! Christmas on Reindeer Road blew me away. It was not at all what I expected. Talk about a book that touches on a little bit of everything. Drama and more drama lol , M.S. ,rumors in a small town , judgement , twins, death, step kids , DSS ,foster care, regrets, forgiveness, family, asthma ,single parents, bullying ,dogs , romance books, and abuse ! Welcome to Highland Falls North Carolina and Gabes and Mallorys story. This is one town i would not want to live in.
Talk about 2 people’s life that has been turned upside down. Both have tons of issues they must face and deal with. They are both stubborn, strong, determined yet imperfect people that have you cheering for them throughout their story. The more Mallory and Gabe deal with their issues, the closer they get. I love how they both supported each other through through all of that drama.
Gabriel Buchanan ( Gabe) happens to be the new police chief of Highland Falls N.C. and to say the town’s people are not happy to have a outsider as the new chief is an understatement.
Mallory Maitland:
If i was Mallory and i got a welcome to the town the way she did ……..I think i was be running out of that town faster than i came.
Both are single parents raising their kids after their spouse died. Oliver and Brooks however are Mallorys 2 step kids. Both Mallory and Gabe also happen to be fighting to keep their own kids from being taken from them. Mallory was way more forgiving than I would be. The youngest of Gabes 3 sons Teddy who turns 6 in the book totally stole my heart. He was the sweetest.
If you are looking for a Christmas read that will take your mind off everything going on in your life this book is definitely something you will want to pick up.

“Christmas on Reindeer Road” by Debbie Mason is book two in the Highland Falls series. After the death of her husband, Mallory Maitland moves back to Highland Falls, NC with her two teenage stepsons. The boys are rebellious and unhappy having been uprooted from their friends in Atlanta and their mother, who unbeknownst to them, did not want to raise them. The boys spread rumors about how bad a stepmother Mallory is who is devastated by the accusations. Gabriel “Gabe” Buchanan is the chief of police, widowed with three boys of his own. He is required to bring in social services to ensure the welfare of the boys in Mallory’s care. Will Mallory be able to keep her guardianship of the boys she has grown to love? Or because she loves them, will she give them their desire to return to their boarding school overseas? This is a story about blended families and the difficulties they often experience. It is a heartwarming story about sacrifices family members make to be sure no one ever feels unloved.
What a heartwarming romance story! I fell in love with the town of Highland Falls in the first book of this series, and I was excited that this book gave updates on some of the characters we fell in love with in book one. We were first introduced to the tension between Mallory and Gabe in the last book, and their story did not disappoint! Both Gabe and Mallory are great characters, and I loved their development and how everything worked out for them. Although I must admit my favorite character in this book was Teddy, I absolutely adored him and his intelligence and Christmas spirit! This was a wonderful addition to the Highland Falls series, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I received this book as an ARC from netgalley, and this is my honest review.
There are those authors that you can’t wait to read them the second they come out with a new book. Mason is one of those authors for me.
I just love her!
I’ve been loving this new series by her. Christmas on Reindeer Road is the second book in her Highland Falls series. It’s Mallory and Gabe. Two really great characters. I have to admit that I really liked them both.
Mallory is the sweetest thing. She works so hard to make others happy and gets hurt so easily. You won’t be able to not feel for her. Her childhood is full of so many sad moments. You just want to give her a hug and make her feel better.
Gabe is no better he too needs a hug and at times a backbone. The way he lets his mother-in-law treat him is so wrong. He needs to tell her to back off. I love how he treats his sons and Teddy is just…he takes over some of the story, his character is that good.
You’ll love how these two just fall into a relationship. It takes them and even the reader a minute to figure out that they are together. It just happens so seamlessly. You’ll also love the boys. All of them even with Teddy stealing the story.
I loved visiting with all the characters and seeing how everyone has come together. This is the perfect story for the holidays. Make sure to pick up Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge first so you can read about Abby who is one of my favorite characters. You’ve got to love her.
I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. I know it will be wonderful and fun to read.
