A Harvest of Emotions
‘Christmas Miracle on Thanksgiving,’ Book 7 of the ‘Christmas Miracle’ series, starts off on a somber tone. There is an unresolved issue between Jack and Charlotte ever since she discovered boxes of her childhood memories he absconded from the old Victorian’s attic and placed inside the trunk of his car.
While Charlotte processes triggers of her mother’s death, she doles out the silent treatment to Jack and moves out of the house they share.
What ensues throughout the story is a harvest of emotions as Charlotte and Jack grapple with their situation, while those close to them offer advice and reassurance to a doomed groom: Bill, Mrs. King, and Kathy.
You’ll want to accept an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner to find out what lies in store for this couple in crisis by reading Book 7.
A rather hard to read story. A fight that seemed like it would end all of the happiness the earlier stories shared. Fortunately, love wins out.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
It’s the most awful feeling: knowing you have screwed up, knowing that you may have ruined everything you’ve been working for… and knowing there’s not a thing you can do about it.
If you have ever been in that situation, you will totally relate to Jack’s thoughts and feelings at the beginning of this book. The author has done an excellent job of creating distance and tension between her characters that is almost palpable, as is the misery Jack experiences as a result. It takes quite some skill as a writer to make the reader feel sympathy for a man who has caused his own problems, but Gauthier does so most effectively.
In addition to further developing the continuing story of events in Christmas Town, the author uses her characters to deliver important and relatable lessons about friendship, loyalty, and resolving one’s problems in constructive and healthy ways. Of course, the story is so entertaining that the reader doesn’t even realise they are being schooled in conflict resolution until they stop to reflect on what they have read.
The seventh of eight novellas in this endearing mystery/romance series, this has been the most thought-provoking thus far.
The Christmas Miracle Series
The Christmas Miracle Series are a group of short stories concerning a man discovering love and his adaption to the changes that love brings to his life. The stories are interesting and quickly read, although I would have preferred a complete book. On Easter has a cliffhanger ending, but by this book’s release, the reader knows there’s more to the story yet to come. I contacted the author to review her books.
Christmas Miracle In July #1 – An interesting little story set in Christmas Town. I didn’t know what the story was about, but it drew me in and kept me interested until the end. I liked the characters and the reason for the story. This author hasn’t disappointed me with any of her books.
Christmas Miracle On Valentine’s Day #2 – This story continues where In July ended. The story continues with Jack’s acceptance to the changes in his life. The characters grow and the plot is interesting and has a lot of humor in it.
Christmas Miracle On Easter #3 – Oh, no. It’s not exactly a cliffhanger, but it is; there’s more to the story. This story continues where On Valentine’s Day ended. Jack is still growing and accepting all the changes still coming with open arms; even the yucky ones. More of the characters are involved with their lives adding to Jack’s.
Christmas Miracle On Memorial Day #4 – A lovely “ending” to CMOEaster. A beautiful wedding and forgiveness and a sad surprise, but a heartwarming, well-written story told from Jack’s point of view. A nice book to read during a coffee break or a relaxing break.
Christmas Miracle on the Fourth of July #5 – Begins one year after he first arrived in Christmas Town and picks up in July, after the Memorial Day wedding, with preparations for the Fourth. The characters are still interesting, along with the storylines. There may be a bit of intrigue in the future for the P.I. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Halloween #6 – The intrigue is now an investigation into a car accident possibly being a murder. Another quickly read, interesting story that follows his discoveries of the seasonal traditions, this time Halloween, and the characters that make Christmas Town special. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Thanksgiving #7 – This picks up the week before Thanksgiving and remains a quickly read, interesting story with good, likeable characters. The woes that began at Halloween between him and her reach breakup and he tries to win her back. I contacted the author to review her books. She cleans up some of the previous storylines for her part. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Christmas Day #8 – This pickups on Christmas Day. There’s a kink to the day and she gets her tail over her shoulder. All the storylines are finished and so ends the journey of Jack and Charlotte. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
The Christmas Miracle Series end.
It’s Thanksgiving! But after Jack recently uncovered the hidden secrets of Charlotte’s past, he’s not certain whether or not he’ll be attending the planned get-together for family and friends-let alone move ahead with any wedding plans for Christmas Day. With Charlotte so angry about her past being revealed and barely acknowledging Jack’s existence, Thanksgiving seems nothing but a pipe dream for now… as does their future plan to be married.
RM Gauthier writes a heart-breaking yet hopeful tale in her Thanksgiving chapter of the Christmas Miracle Series as Jack, who is plagued with remorse and regrets about his unwanted intrusion into his fiancée Charlotte’s life, continues to justify his actions despite the many hurt feelings he caused. As he slowly realizes he was in the wrong and suffers the absence of his lady-love during this very special time of year, Jack undergoes a mental breakdown that will set any reader on edge.
With highly-engaging characters, a terrific plotline, and a happy future for a couple who truly belong together at stake, Gauthier pens a heartfelt and suspenseful read in “Christmas Miracle on Thanksgiving”, and readers are guaranteed to assume an edge-of-your-seat attitude as Jack drives himself to despair over what he considers to be the certain loss of his future with Charlotte. The author applies even more pressure with the holidays just around the corner and important new characters literally showing up at the last minute, tossing a wrench into everyone’s plans.
“Christmas Miracle on Thanksgiving” is a continuation of the Christmas Miracle Series, and I highly recommend this novel be read in order, but the story is also substantial enough to suffice as a stand-alone read. This novel is appropriate for romantics, holiday, and mystery lovers ages 15 and up.
In this episode of the Christmas Town series Jack is really in the dog house after not telling Charlotte that he had found some boxes of her keepsakes from before her mother died. Charlotte moves out of their house and refuses to talk to Jack. Will a family Thanksgiving dinner be enough to thaw their relationship?
This is a lovely series of short stories about Christmas Town, with great characters. Do be aware that this is a series, and each book leads on from the last, with no backstory, so they do need to be read in order to make sense.
I received an advance copy of this book, but am voluntarily reviewing it.
