Jack is keeping secrets. Charlotte’s angry. Halloween is the backdrop.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
There are more ghosts from the past than Jack can handle in this sixth book in Gauthier’s lighthearted mystery/romance novella series, which is set at Halloween. This instalment in the series sees the mysteries of Jack’s current case heighten as the secrecy about his investigation is revealed.
At the same time, Jack finds himself in trouble with Charlotte more than once as questions about family, friends and events of the past come to the surface. A sense of foreboding lands heavily on the reader as Halloween arrives, leaving them to wonder if Jack will really prove able to help Charlotte deal with the parts of her past that haunt her still.
Once again, Gauthier has delivered an enjoyable and lighthearted read, loaded with enough questions to make the reader keep going in the hope of finding answers in the next book in the series.
The Christmas Miracle Series
The Christmas Miracle Series are a group of short stories concerning a man discovering love and his adaption to the changes that love brings to his life. The stories are interesting and quickly read, although I would have preferred a complete book. On Easter has a cliffhanger ending, but by this book’s release, the reader knows there’s more to the story yet to come. I contacted the author to review her books.
Christmas Miracle In July #1 – An interesting little story set in Christmas Town. I didn’t know what the story was about, but it drew me in and kept me interested until the end. I liked the characters and the reason for the story. This author hasn’t disappointed me with any of her books.
Christmas Miracle On Valentine’s Day #2 – This story continues where In July ended. The story continues with Jack’s acceptance to the changes in his life. The characters grow and the plot is interesting and has a lot of humor in it.
Christmas Miracle On Easter #3 – Oh, no. It’s not exactly a cliffhanger, but it is; there’s more to the story. This story continues where On Valentine’s Day ended. Jack is still growing and accepting all the changes still coming with open arms; even the yucky ones. More of the characters are involved with their lives adding to Jack’s.
Christmas Miracle On Memorial Day #4 – A lovely “ending” to CMOEaster. A beautiful wedding and forgiveness and a sad surprise, but a heartwarming, well-written story told from Jack’s point of view. A nice book to read during a coffee break or a relaxing break.
Christmas Miracle on the Fourth of July #5 – Begins one year after he first arrived in Christmas Town and picks up in July, after the Memorial Day wedding, with preparations for the Fourth. The characters are still interesting, along with the storylines. There may be a bit of intrigue in the future for the P.I. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Halloween #6 – The intrigue is now an investigation into a car accident possibly being a murder. Another quickly read, interesting story that follows his discoveries of the seasonal traditions, this time Halloween, and the characters that make Christmas Town special. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Thanksgiving #7 – This picks up the week before Thanksgiving and remains a quickly read, interesting story with good, likeable characters. The woes that began at Halloween between him and her reach breakup and he tries to win her back. I contacted the author to review her books. She cleans up some of the previous storylines for her part. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Christmas Miracle on Christmas Day #8 – This pickups on Christmas Day. There’s a kink to the day and she gets her tail over her shoulder. All the storylines are finished and so ends the journey of Jack and Charlotte. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
The Christmas Miracle Series end.
Christmas Miracle on Halloween (Book 6) by R.M. Gauthier
Brushing Aside Spider Webs
A diehard ‘Christmas Miracle’ reader, I barreled through Book 6, which is by no means short on humor, Christmas Town folksiness, mystery, and intrigue.
The author has a way of drawing the reader in right away through her cinematic storytelling via the first-person narrative of Jack Bennett’s self-deprecating cynicism. To think this hard-nosed detective continues to fall under the spell of his beloved fiancée, Charlotte Rose.
In Book 6, this lovable, henpecked curmudgeon gets roped into helping set up a secret retractable door in the town’s haunted house.
In the meantime, Jack brushes aside dormant spider webs:
He investigates a fatal car crash ruled an accident.
In the attic of the old Victorian, he discovers a box of photo albums filled with memories of the Rose family, piquing his curiosity over the discrepancies of what happened to Charlotte’s mother.
Highly recommended, ‘Christmas Miracle on Halloween’ works as a stand-alone, or integral part of a series during any season.
