Under the Christmas lights strung outside a snowy Minnesota cabin, Ryker and Jacob face a future where nothing will be the same again.Fortunate timing means that Ryker and Jacob can spend a few days together over Christmas in a cabin on the family farm. What’s better is that Scott and Ben are coming as well, with Hayne and Ethan in tow. Ryker can’t imagine a better way to spend time with the man … time with the man he loves, and the friends he misses, and somehow he knows that this Christmas will be the best one ever. Hockey on a frozen pond, kisses under Christmas lights, and sharing time with Jacob are the best gifts he could ever receive.
Long distance relationships are brutal, Jacob can attest to that fact. So, when Ryker gets a few days off over the Raptors’ Christmas break, the hard-working Minnesota farmer is beyond thrilled. When they find out that their buddies from Owatonna U. are making the trip as well, the holidays are looking to be just about perfect. Jacob has a question for Ryker burning in his heart, and he isn’t asking for much—just a few fun-filled days with old friends and a yes from the man of his dreams.

YAY, we get some more of Ryder and Jacob! This was so good to go back to them, and get a bit more. The two are doing the long distance thing, and its hard with both of them being pulled in the opposite direction. Now at Christmas, there are five days just for them to be together. But when their just for them time is interrupted by the issues on the farm, will the break they were looking forward to be ruined? Such a good story, I gave it 5 stars, even though I was left wanting more.
What a treat this story was!
Christmas Lights is a great story and a surprise addition to the Owatonna U series that I thought was finished. It was really great to catch up with Ryker and Jacob, who were the focus of this story, as well as Scott and Hayne, Benoit and Ethan.
This is a short novella, so it didn’t take me long to read it, but it really packed an emotional punch for me. The long-distance relationship that Ryker and Jacob have isn’t an easy one to deal with and they are so happy to have several days to spend together at Christmas this year. It’s unfortunate that things on Jacob’s farm aren’t going well.
I really can’t say much more without giving away too much of the story. Trust me, if you are a fan of this series and/or the Harrisburg Railers series (there might be a guest appearance or two), you will want to read this story.
A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Holiday-filled hockey romance…
Owatonna U is an m/m spin-off of the Harrisburg Railers series and has quickly become another favourite from this duo author team. Strong characters, hockey (yeah!), family and love are always a great mix…
Ryker and Jacob found love at Owatonna U. and this novella dropped right back into their relationship. Where were they now? Where were they going? Everything seemed so clear yet life is known for throwing curveballs. Distance had only made the love between them deeper so, wrestling with sudden, life-altering changes meant a rethink about everything…
With the holidays as a backdrop, their reunion was bittersweet yet full of love that continued to build between them. How they handled it all was a testament to the commitment they shared.
Not everything was serious though and the sexy was out in full force. Love abounded, perfect for any season…
Another great addition to the series – I only wish it were longer…

This novella made me so happy!I loved how both Ryker and Jacob wanted the best for their fututre. I loved how the writing duo made them fight everyday struggles for their happiness.
It was all-round a great follow-up story of one of my favorite couples.

Christmas is the perfect time of year to show those you love exactly what they mean to you. But when Jacob finds himself having to make a decision between the family farm and the love he has for Ryker, Christmas time becomes more of a heart ache than a time of joy. But spending time with all of his friends and opening up to his family puts the holiday is a different light and this opens Jacob’s life to show him that happiness can be found under the tree as well as with those you love. Perfect ending!!
Christmas Lights is An Owatonna Holiday Novella by authors RJ Scott and V.L. Locey. This story is part of an ongoing series. Should be read in order. Side characters will have no meaning to you if you do not. I do think though the main love story will be understood just fine. Personally, I am fangirl of this series. This story is writing in Dual Pov. I like that, lets me get into the heads of both characters.
Ryker, it is his last game. He doesn’t want to be the weak link. He knows his frame of mind can make or break a game. I liked how he is a team player. He is a good soul. He really deserves a happy ending.
Jacob is a farmer. It has been two months since he last saw Riker. He really has been missing him. But he has responsibilities and he knows they come first. They have a ten-year plan but neither man wants to really wait that long to be together.
I found this story to be beautifully done. Perfect for a Christmas story and the romantic I am at heart was sooooo happy to read this story with a huge smile on my face. I highly recommend this one to anyone who is a fan of true love winning the day.
