Come home to Silver Springs for the holidays, where broken hearts learn to love again…together. So much for forever. When Harper Devlin’s rock star husband ditches her on his way to the top, she takes her two daughters to her sister’s place in Silver Springs for the holidays, hoping family can heal her broken heart. But comfort comes in unexpected places when she crosses paths with local Tobias … crosses paths with local Tobias Richardson.
The moment Tobias spots Harper, he recognizes a sadness he knows all too well. After spending thirteen years in prison paying for his regretful past, Tobias is ready to make amends, and maybe helping Harper is the way to do it. But offering her a shoulder to cry on ignites a powerful attraction and a desire neither saw coming.
Fearing her reaction, Tobias doesn’t reveal his checkered past. He’s falling hard, and if Harper finds out, he’ll lose her for good, especially because her famous ex is now trying to win her back. Secrets have a way of coming out, but maybe this Christmas will bring Tobias the forgiveness—and the love—he deserves.

With all of Novak’s Silver Springs novels, you get much more than a romance. You get a heartfelt, well-crafted story with real characters in tough but realistic situation that will touch readers on multiple levels. From traumatic pasts and difficulty navigating family dynamics, to messy but passionate love stories. I believe a reader doesn’t have to actually read these books in sequence in order to enjoy all of these books but it does add a familiar coming home experience. Visiting with old friends in a place that feels like home.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy in exchange for my honest review.
Having your rock star husband ask you for a divorce is awful. Harper Devlin slaved to make ends meet while Axel was trying to get himself noticed in the wild and wooly, rock and roll world. Once he was a star, he didn’t need Harper and their children. Harper is in Silver Springs to spend some time with her sister, and try to heal her heart. The divorce from her one and only will be final in a few days.
Tobias Richardson, has been spending his time in Silver Springs getting his feet under himself after spending years in prison for harming a young boy. Five months ‘free’, he is now looking forward to a new life. Unfortunately some people in Silver Springs aren’t as excited for Tobias to be there and he has to continually deal with the looks that some of the townspeople give him. He doesn’t feel he’s worthy for anyone, much less someone who had a rock star as a husband!
Harper will just be in town through Christmas. Can Tobias and Harper have those few weeks to make memories? Can their pasts be stepping stones to a relationship? Will people not close to the couple, tell tales and make Harper and Tobias question their lives together and apart? So many questions….
I loved that Harper ‘went for it’ and was the aggressor in the relationship. Women sometimes just need to let people know what they want. My pet peeve, and the reason for the 4 star rating is…you need to be honest. Tobias keeping his secrets didn’t do anything to help the relationship. I don’t like keeping part of yourself a secret. Some of the misunderstandings could have been eliminated with honesty and an open discussion…on both sides.
Silver Springs is a fabulous place. I’d like to see more stories set here…especially one for Atticus!! Enjoy Tobias and Harper!
Another wonderful story by Brenda Novak. I could hardly put this books down long enough to eat, get dressed or do anything! Tobias broke my heart with all that had happened to him, but I was so glad that his family and friends rallied around him. Harper was between a rock and a hard place trying to decide what was right and wrong for her and her two girls, as well as her attraction to Tobias and dealing with her rock star ex. Silver Springs is another wonderful fictional place that I love to visit with these books. I hope it lives on.
Christmas in Silver Springs is Book 6 of the Silver Springs series by Brenda Novak. Even though there is a bit of cross over from the last story with this one, I certainly think someone could easily jump in without having read any prior stories and follow along just fine.
This was certainly not the direction I expected for Tobias so I was pleasantly surprised with the path the author took for him. Despite all Tobias has been through in his life with plenty of setbacks, he stayed on the right path and turned into an amazing man. Harper was really put in a terrible position with her ex-husband and I applauded her strength at the end.
Overall this was a great addition to the series and I look forward to reading more about Silver Springs.
The ultimate in feel good romance! CHRISTMAS IN SILVER SPRINGS is book six in Brenda Novak’s Silver Springs series and brings us the story of Tobias, a reformed bad boy who is trying to start his life anew after surviving his prison sentence, and Harper, the soon to be ex-wife of rock royalty in a heartwarming take on a second chance at love story.
If you’ve been following along with this series, you will already be very familiar with Tobias and his story. It was really touching to get to watch his struggle to settle into life again only to find true love when he least expected it. I really enjoyed him and felt his turmoil deeply.
Harper is a fairly complex character. She wants her ex back, until she starts getting to know Tobias and sees what a different type of person can bring to a relationship. She’s falling hard for him, but when her ex comes back and wants to put their family back together, does she owe it to her kids to try?
I highly recommend this story to anyone enjoying a small town romance filled with easy to relate to characters with well developed story lines and touching moments galore. The entire series has been great and I’m looking forward to more to come.
CHRISTMAS IN SILVER SPRINGS (Silver Springs Book 6) by Brenda Novak
This addition to the series, like all the books in this series, can be easily read as a standalone.
Harper Devlin and her two young daughters leave Denver behind to spend time with her sister’s family in Silver Springs after her ten-year marriage to rock star, Axel Devlin ends in divorce. Harper is finding it difficult to move forward, even with the difficulties and betrayals during the last two years of their marriage. She is surprised by the kindness of a stranger, who sees her sadness and hands her a single white rose and just offers to listen if she needs to talk.
Tobias Richardson recognizes the sadness in Harper’s eyes. He moved to Silver Springs to be close to his brother and his family five months ago, after being released from prison. Thirteen years ago, he was sentenced as an adult after a terrible incident. He regrets everything and even though he has been forgiven by those who lives he changed forever, he is finding it difficult to forgive himself. When he offers Harper his friendship, neither can believe the powerful attraction and desire that rises between them.
This is not your usual holiday romance. It is emotionally deep with the loss of a long-term marriage, fear of a rebound relationship, keeping Tobias’ incarceration a secret, forgiving oneself and moving on. Even with all of this going on, it is a beautiful romance between Harper and Tobias
Tobias’ actions as a teenager, the glimpses of prison life and the understanding of others while being unable to forgive himself gave him depth.
Characters seemed trite. Felt like I read same story before. Couldn’t get into it
Great story. Loved it.
It was an interesting story but not enough background on the main characters of Tobias and Devlin. It seemed every other word was Axel, the ex-husband. Also, the ending left you wondering about the main characters………
This is a glorious story. Brenda Novak is a smart and savvy storyteller. Hearing Tobias get his happy ending was very emotional. Tobias has a hard start in life and still struggles with a lot of guilt. He is sweet and loving and would give anything to make others happy. His relationship with Atticus and Uriah embodies his spirit and goodness.
Harper is trying to cope with a divorce and a pushy, but well meaning sister. She meets Tobias and is attracted to him but is conflicted over her ending marriage. As she struggles with her decisions her ex-husband begins to make life difficult for her.
The story is emotional and will keep you turning the page to see how everything turns out. It is a joy to read such a splendidly written work.
Oh how I love Brenda’s books! I wished we could give more than five stars because this book really deserves it. Her books always make you feel so very much, I love to read books like this! Thank you Brenda for such another great book!
