This is the first book I’ve read by Jeannie Moon & it was incredible!! It was a sweet, heartwarming second chance romance with a couple in their 50’s which was refreshing! Dan Gallo left everyone behind in Angel Harbor, including Jane Fallon, when he left for college & ended up becoming a famous author. Jane put her dreams aside when her father died unexpectedly & she came home to run the family book store. They reunite 25 years later in Angel Harbor & get their second chance. Dan knows he made mistakes & regrets them. He mends fences with Jane, his family, becomes part of the community again. The book has wonderful supporting characters that you will love as much as Dan & Jane including Chloe, Jane’s adorable, spoiled dog. Such a beautifully written book that you will absolutely enjoy! I also want a book store like hers to go to, it sounds amazing. Too bad it’s only fictional!!
Gifted author Jeannie Moon swept me away to the quaint town of Angel Harbor in her newest book, Christmas in Angel Harbor. The town is the embodiment of small town life, especially at Christmas…it receives the gift of love through the presence of Jane and her generational book store, Harbor Books. With the quality of affection that transcends what one expects from small town life, her characters steal your heart through the tenderness they hold for Jane and her little store.
Entering back into Jane’s life after years of separation Dan, now a best selling author, brings the one kind of love that neither has found since they parted. The emotional journey they take to find what they lost is at the same time poignant and joyous.
There is one thing I have come to expect from the characters in each of Ms Moon’s books…no matter how many different storylines…they are all unique and have a depth of character not often found with other authors.
These are the types of characters who stay with you long after the stories have ended. I was also taken with the wry wit and humor threaded throughout the story…the quips between the myriad of characters were often laugh out loud hilarious…though they were subtle at the same time.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Christmas in Angel Harbor is the perfect holiday read for the season. Dan and Jane and their second chance at romance are easy to like and root for, as they navigate an old friendship that unfortunately drifted away. Jane is a strong woman, but she’s at crossroads in her life that she’s unsure how to handle. Dan’s come back to town after 25 years away, hoping to find his words again, but also changing the direction of his writing career.
This sweet story is full of heart and quiet on drama. It wraps the reader up in a blanket of comfort and love, from the main couple to the many friends and Angel Harbor citizen who are woven into the story. I was thrilled that Jane and Dan are 50+ characters, because as much as I love the genre in general, this reader enjoys reading stories about men and women in her own age group, too.
I cherish all of Jeannie Moon’s stories, but there’s something extra special about her Christmas tales. I can envision myself walking along the snow-covered streets, sitting by the window in the bookstore and shopping for gifts in the little shops. She brings a bit of magic to each book she writes, and nowadays, we can all use some good news in our lives.
Christmas in Angel Harbor by Jeannie Moon
This Christmas, she’s hoping for a miracle…
Twenty-five years ago, Jane Fallon put her rising career on hold to take over her family’s bookstore after the death of her father. Throughout the years, she’s transformed Angel Harbor Books into a place of comfort for her and her daughter, but when her landlord announces the building has been sold, Jane is faced with sudden uncertainty. If the bookstore is gone, what will she do?

His first stop is his favorite teenage hangout—the local bookstore. It’s almost exactly how he remembers it. This is Jane Fallon and Dan Gallo’s story.
Jane Fallon made herself a cup of burnt sugar tea and let the smell of caramel and vanilla drift over her. She added a dollop of local clover honey and inhaled the sweet steam. As flavors mingled, Jane knew that, quandaries aside, it was going to be a good day. Maybe even a special one.
Something had been buzzing around her for the last week. She felt like there was a familiar presence in her space. Eerie and comforting at the same time, a sense of familiarity in the feelings had her wondering exactly what the day might bring.
With Halloween in the rearview mirror and Thanksgiving a couple of weeks away, Jane knew it was time to start prepping for the Christmas shopping season. Her vendors had been calling about last-minute orders, but the stock room was already overflowing with goodness. She had holiday cards ready to go out today, an ornament tree with a selection of gorgeous hand-painted decorations, gift books, pens, kids’ books and puppets ready for shopping season. She was sorting out the decorations, which she would start putting up right before Thanksgiving.
November on Long Island was unpredictable. Kind of like a woman.
One minute she was giving you attitude, the next she was warm and charming. The ever-changing weather showed that Mother Nature could be one moody customer. Within a week she could bring rain, sun, gale-force winds, warm temperatures, frost or snow. It was a far cry from the sunshine and warmth he’d left behind in Hawaii, but with each strike of his foot on the pavement, with each mile behind him, Dan Gallo was glad he’d come home.
Avoiding his life hadn’t done anything to help the anger that still swirled inside him, at least not yet. There was a chance he’d start to settle once he established a new routine, but even when that happened, he wasn’t going to tell anyone where he was. He’d left a string of people since he’d gone off the grid, but Dan didn’t really care. Angel Harbor, where he’d spent the first twenty-two years of his life before leaving for law school, was the perfect place to hide in plain sight. He was staying at the family house where his sister lived with her husband and kids. She was thrilled that he was going to be around for the holidays and gave him the small guest cottage to use for as long as he wanted.
I highly recommend reading.
Christmas in Angel Harbor by Jeannie Moon is a 4 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Jeannie Moon.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
There is not one book that I have read by Jeannie Moon that I have not enjoyed and this is no exception. Small town romance for me is at the top of my list. This beautiful story encompassing the lives of Dan Gallo and Jane Fallon was heartwarming. Reading about Jane’s love for her family and friends in Angel Harbor and her reconnecting with Danny Gallo after so many years just kept me so enthralled in this story. I was given an ARC of thus book in exchange for an honest review and I give this book the highest praise. Wonderful job Jeannie Moon.
Christmas in Angel Harbor by Jeannie Moon is a special holiday read. I love second chance romance and this is just perfect. Dan Gallo and Jane Fallon grew up together and have a history, but one day he walked away. He built what many considered to be the ideal life. A successful lawyer turned author until a tragedy made him rethink his career.
Jane had dreams too. Dreams she turned her back on when her father unexpectedly passed away. They each took a different path that eventually brought them together in Angel Harbor during Christmastime and to the bookstore that started it all.
Dan rediscovers himself while spending time at his old haunt, Angel Harbor Books, and reconnects with Jane. When Jane loses the lease on her bookstore, what will she do? Will she find a way to keep it or will she move on? Or, will he offer her the answers she’s looking for?
It’s not often we read stories about middle aged couples but I have to say Ms. Moon wrote a truly heartwarming story. I was unsure of the pace of the book at first. I felt like there was way too much backstory in the opening chapter or two. As I continued to delve further into the book, I truly fell in love with both characters and the storyline.
I highly recommend reading Christmas in Angel Harbor. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
If you are a book lover, then Jeannie Moon’s Christmas In Angel Harbor is the perfect book! It is the story of mystery writer extraordinaire Dan Gallo, and his reconnection with childhood best friend Jane Fallon. They were inseparable during their high school years, and on the cusp of being lovers when they lost contact while attending different colleges. It’s been over twenty years… twenty years in which Dan became successful, famous, wealthy, and more withdrawn into a cocoon of his own design. He returns unannounced to Angel Harbor, to visit his sister and her family. Dan has been struggling with his writing, and with his life. Unexpectedly, everything improves once he is back in his hometown of Angel Harbor.
Jane, soon after college, was abruptly forced to discontinue a promising archeology career when her father died. Her family owned Angel Harbor Books, an institution within her hometown, and within her family for generations. Jane has spent almost twenty years, as a single mother managing the store, and raising her 17-year-old daughter, Tara. Dan stops by to see his old friend, and to experience his old writing sanctuary, the book store. They feel emotions that they both thought long gone. Jane is confused, not by her feelings for Dan, but by the thought that he will leave her again as he did when they were young. Dan discovers that his ease of writing has returned, and that he wants to stay in Angel Harbor… to stay with Jane.
Life becomes difficult for them when her daughter is accepted into a college in Ireland, and when the book store faces a crisis without an apparent solution. Dan attempts to help Jane, but fails. Jane’s heart is hurt, in multiple ways. Will the bookstore survive? Will Dan’s drastic genre change destroy his writing career? Will Jane and Dan continue together, or will a second long-term separation ensue? This story includes a wonderful group of primary and secondary characters. Each is detailed delightfully, and realistically… but the story is dominated rightfully by the incredible portraits of Jane and Dan. They are not young characters. Each has experienced life, the triumphs, and the heartbreaks. They have fears, but they each also have hopes and plans. The author has given her readers a beautiful story of people who love, and books, and a small town. I’m anxiously awaiting my return trip to Angel Harbor. It can’t be soon enough.
Jane Fallon and Dan Gallo were close friends during their youth. All was great until Dan graduated college and went off to law school , leaving Jane heartbroken. As both started to move ahead in their lives, Jane’s dream of becoming an archeologist came tumbling down the day her father died. She left her dreams and created new ones when she took over the family owned bookstore in Angel Harbor.
After a few years as a lawyer, Dan became a very successful author. Now over twenty years later, and after his last book caused his life to be turned upside down, he returns to Angel Harbor. Here he hopes to regroup and find inspiration for the next book.
When he returns to the bookstore where he started to write as a teenager, he finds Jane. Feelings that were dormant between them wake up. But there is a lot of hurt to overcome. Plus, Dan has plans of leaving town once again. When things seem to be working out, an unexpected turn of events threatens Jane’s future and their relationship.
This was a story about second chances between two individuals over 50. Both successful in their own right.
It was also a story about family, giving of oneself, love and hope.
Though for me it was a little slow moving, the message of hope, internal peace and love is very clear and touching.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was a touching romance with older characters, which I loved. She knew Dan back when they were younger and he was starting out with writing. Back then Dan couldn’t wait to get out of their town and after he became a successful writer he regretted not going back to do any book signings at the store. Jane worked in her family’s bookstore, which she loved as it helped keep her dad’s memory close to her. When Jane gets some bad news while Dan is in town the question is can he (and the towns people) help her & can Dan start writing again. I liked the flow of the story.
This is a wonderful story about a couple in their ‘50s navigating through their past, their long separation and their journey back to a second chance at love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jane and Dan’s second chance story has all the good small town stuff , family, friends and even some secrets. The feel good moments are in this one along with the emotional and sad moments gosh even how Angel Harbor got its name might touch you, but not as much as the slow build to the second chance at love.
I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Loved Jane and Dan’s story. I love reading a Christmas book, I truly appreciated it more with everything that has gone on over the past 6 months. I loved every single page of their story and how Dan coming back to Angel Harbor and how his friendship with Jane was rekindled and blossomed. Wonderful read!
A beautiful story that just flows perfectly. Second chance romance with many years in between. A surprise to have characters over 50. So few books recognize this possibility.
Dan and Jane are both strong, realistic characters. The town plays an important role in Jane’s life and the story. I absolutely loved it. Had to force myself to put it down to make dinner, I’d been engrossed all day.
Flows beautifully, so well written with an ending that made me cry with happiness. Everything you could want in a Christmas book.
