The future always looks brighter at ChristmasWhile Scarlett Ambrose works her PR magic landing Alaska on the nice Christmas spirit list, her wedding plans and a longing for Arizona’s heat have to wait. But when the wait’s too long will a warm-hearted doctor in town for his own reasons be just the prescription for lifting her cold, Scrooge-like spirit?
Scarlett is a warm-blooded intern from Arizona who hates the cold state of Alaska. Her humbug moments are related to her new position, that requires her to place Alaska as one of the ten most Christmassy places. She is hired to place the least Christmassy State in the country and everything is dandy until it all falls apart. The whole mess started with her brother, who suggested she take the position with a major pay increase from her last job. She needs the increase in pay to start her own event planning company after her partner stole their money to get married. The problem with the present job is that the new boss demands, just when she is ready to return to sunny Arizona, that she add a Dickens’ town with everything from the Christmas story by Dec. Now she has to stay in the coldest place on earth longer that she was promised, find carolers and solve her cold long-distance romance to a warm wedding.
To make things more difficult, her fiancé wants her to choose a date for their wedding as soon as possible, while Gil, the not too charming doctor she meets in Alaska, is growing deep in her heart. To add to the mix, there is Gil’s cold girlfriend and the fact that he has to return to sunny California pretty soon. She probably can figure it all out, by the time Dec rolls along…but what can she do about the increasing cold that is dampening her heart?
This charming tale is full of believable characters with their growing pains. Christmas Future by Valerie Ipson is a clean romance full of Christmas joy and miracles. It is worth your time and money. It will be a great addition to your Christmas list.
I love the premise and plot of Christmas Future. Poor Scarlett, the very cold in Alaska Arizona transplant. Gil was way too good for his fiance. This book was almost like a Hallmark movie. Was Scrooge in charge of getting Alaska on Santa’s nice list? There were several laugh out loud moments. I just thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
After reading this I found out there is a newer version of this book that possibly addresses several of the issues I had with this book.
Christmas Future is a sweet story that I can see being a Hallmark movie if a few kinks get worked out. Gil and Scarlett have both focused on work and allowed their love lives to kind of happen around them. When they both have a chance to take a step back they are able to see their relationships more clearly. Scarlett is working on a Christmas campaign, but she’s kind of a Scrooge. This book takes us through her journey of finding the Christmas spirit again, as well as love.
I have a lot of unanswered questions from this book, but I won’t go into them so I don’t give any spoilers, but also, I’m hoping they were answered in the newer version, that unfortunately I don’t have time to read it right now and find out.
This is a Hallmark movie type romance book. The book starts off pretty slow but does pick up the pace nicely. The characters are well written and the author gives a nice description of Alaska. Brrrrr, it’s cold reading this in January. The characters were fun and it was nice seeing how they interacted together. Enjoyable holiday romance to read.

This was a good read. It was a little difficult to get into in the first chapter because it seemed to have a rhythm or pace different than what I have been reading. I loved the characters. I enjoy characters with a great sense of humor.
The story premise was funny. The romance was clean and enjoyable. I could feel the cold in Alaska,ha! I think the author did well in showing how the H and his current fiancee weren’t a good match. It was a bit more murky for me with the h and her fiancee which made me feel bad for that fiancee sometimes. Overall I did like the story and recommend it. The romance wasn’t rushed and it had a satisfying end.
This book was fantastic! Full of holiday spirit and the coming together of two people. I love the conversations Gil and Scarlett have. They aren’t forced or rush in to a relationship.
Loved everything about it!
The characters were well written. I’d love to have almost any of them as friends…. if I could get them to move further south. I think I’d be complaining about the bone-deep cold, just like Scarlett were I in her place.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
