Vinny is the town zealot when it comes to the environment. Save it or else, seems to be his motto. But, does this make him a murderer? It’s up to Izzy and the gang, much to Mitch’s objections, to find out! I love these boozy pie mysteries. And this one was fantastic! Especially the ending! Smiling so big at the ending!

Book 6 in the “The Drunken Pie Cafe cozy mystery series ” we can expect another small town cozy with Izzy heading the investigations.
it is close to Christmas and the town prepares for it by hosting a decoration competition. Sadly one of the contestants is murdered. When the newspaper pick up on the rumour of the town being cursed, it spells trouble. Around Christmas no one wants to be near a cursed town and tourism, a major income, is affected. Izzy has to prove that there is no curse and find the actual murderer – and all before Christmas is spoiled.
Like the other stories in the series this book is well-written, a nice balance between cozy, chatty and mystery, with a dash of romance in the air.

Theo Russo, owner of the winery in Sunshine Springs, sighed as he stood at the top of the ladder helping Izzy James center the bright red Christmas bow on the First Bank of Sunshine Springs. Her Dalmatian, Sprinkles, barked as he finally aligned it perfectly. Then they moved down to the law offices of J.J. Dunham and Associates with the next bow. Izzy owned the Drunken Pie Café, where locals could find espresso drinks, wine, and freshly baked pies—many of them boozy pies, infused with wine, beer, or liquor. Suddenly Vinny Herron started yelling at Simon Farrington, and started to beat him on the head with his picket sign, protesting the killing of trees for decoration. Their loud argument was getting the attention of tourists who are vital to their economy. Theo finally broke it up, then he and Izzy went to the Drunken Pie Café to have some of the fresh-baked pie and relax.
Izzy began to make hot chocolate to go with their pies when Sprinkles started barking at the door. Izzy called him away from the door, but he quickly returned and barked loudly. She eventually pulled him away by the collar, but he again ran back to the door and barked. Theo suggested that something may be wrong since Sprinkles never barked that insistently before. They looked out and saw Simon Farrington tightly strapped to a street lamp with pine garland. His head was slumped forward and his eyes were open, staring down at the ground.
When the murder became known, rumors start flying that Simon’s death was due to a “Christmas curse.” Frightened tourists are avoiding Sunshine Springs and the local business owners are frantic as this is the season they make most of their money! Can Izzy solve the murder to prove there is not a curse? Can she and her friends save Christmas? And are things finally heating up with Izzy and Theo, despite Izzy’s protests?
Another great cozy mystery in this series.
This time Izzy has to solve a murder and prove there is no curse on Sunshine Springs in order to get the tourists back in town or all the small businesses will be in bad shape financially. The annual Christmas decoration competition is at the heart of the mystery when the previous winner is found murdered and wrapped in Christmas decorations right on Main Street. It gets more hairy when Vinny goes on a violent tangent protesting the use of decorations and several resident’s displays are vandalized. There is also a new development in Izzy and Theo’s relationship.

Big city newspapers spread the idea that a Christmas Curse is at work in Sunshine Springs, and is worse than ever this year.
Can Izzy and friends save Christmas for Sunshine Springs? Disastrous PR for a tourist revenue driven region.
Vinny is so driven to save the earth that he is destroying Christmas decorations left and right. Really misguided as he is destroying things that would otherwise be reused- and Christmas Tree farms usually follow strict guidelines for replanting.
The close community spirit seems to be encouraging more than one romance. Maybe Molly and Scott will not be the only engagement and wedding for the new year.
Crazy yet sweet read!
