It’s the most wonderful time of the year… and the perfect moment to escape to a charming English village! From the beloved author whose novels are “sheer indulgence from start to finish” (SOPHIE KINSELLA) comes a delightful holiday story — funny, heartfelt, romantic and packed with recipes — perfect for the winter months. In the Cornish coastal village of Mount Polbearne, the Christmas season has … Polbearne, the Christmas season has arrived. It’s a joyous time for family, friends, and feasting, as decorations sparkle along the town’s winding streets and shop windows glow with festive displays. And in Polly’s Little Beach Street Bakery, the aroma of gingerbread cookies and other treats tempts people in from the cold.
Though Polly is busy keeping up with the demands of the season, she still makes time for her beekeeper boyfriend, Huckle. She’s especially happy to be celebrating the holiday this year with him, and can’t wait to cuddle up in front of the fireplace with a cup of eggnog on Christmas Eve.
But holiday bliss soon gives way to panic when a storm cuts the village off from the mainland. Now it will take all of the villagers to work together in order to ensure everyone has a happy holiday.
Full of heart and humor, Jenny Colgan’s latest novel is an instant Christmastime classic.

Favorite Quotes:
You smell of gingerbread… It’s awesome. It makes me horny and hungry all at the same time. They’re going to ban me from supermarkets. I’m going to turn into Fru T. Bunn, the pervy baker.
Yes, I am racist. I hate everyone. Because at my school for advanced and gifted children I took a pounding on a regular basis by blacks, Chinese, Asians, Caucasians, Hispanics, Arabs, Jews, Catholics and Zoroastrians. So I just totally hate everybody.
You know about food: what should a pregnant woman be eating? To make her glow. I want one of those hot, glowing pregnant wives with utterly gigantic breasts.
You’re part of my life… The most important part.
And Mrs. Bradley was standing there with a face like fizz. She had one of those monobosoms . . . you never see those any more, do you? I suppose she wore a corset. They’re a dying breed . . .
Someone had made a gigantic star out of cardboard bedpans. It was kind of revolting and charming at the same time.
My Review:
I treasure this author and adore reading her work – it is like taking the perfect stress-free vacation. This rapturously delightful book was a joy to read and I was quick to fall into the story and fall for the author’s charming and enticing characters. I first met Polly, Huck, and their precious rescued Puffin when reading Summer at the Little Beach Street Bakery, which was also my first brush with Ms. Colgan’s genius. I promptly added her entire listing to my TBR. Ms. Colgan’s writing is witty, crisp, breezy, and amusingly insightful. She has a knack for sliding in comedic asides and cleverly humorous observations even in the midst of tense scenes or distressing subject matter. I covet and cherish her deft and agile wordcraft.
Cute holiday read that I really enjoyed. The characters are developed so well that you think they are next door neighbors to you. The story is fun and romantic. Great read.
A story about a baker who operates her business out of a van and lives in a lighthouse with her boyfriend and pet puffin. The holidays are approaching, and she’s faced with decisions that involve family, friends and business opportunities. Of the three books in this series, this was my favorite.
love the story
I like all of Jenny Colgan’s books. The only problem is they do not come fast enough!
I won this book from Goodreads giveaways. I was asked to give an honest review and was not given an compensation. This book was a very interesting little book about a town that is sometimes unable to be gotten to due to the sea. It shows that when a little town needs to support those around them they do. They needed to reopen the school because many days the couldn’t get to the main land and the Christmas Faire was going to do for the children. This was a great story and gives you hope at such a wonderful season.
Very nice easy read Well written I felt I knew the characters in the book
I love, love, love! the Little Beach Street Bakery Series, and this book does not disappoint. I saved this as a Christmas present to myself, and enjoyed hours being with the Little Beach Street Bakery family. It was witty with good surprises and turns, and it kept me reading well into the night to see what would happen next. A must read for anyone who enjoys a good book 🙂
Fun, escapist reading
