In the town of Silver Bells, there’s always a feeling of Christmas in the air… Let love—and RaeAnne Thayne—melt your heart this holiday season! This New Year will bring widowed nurse Abigail Powell a fresh start in a different city. Excited about the chance to create an unforgettable Christmas for her young son in picturesque Silver Bells, Colorado, Abby has been hired to take care of her dear … to take care of her dear friend’s recuperating grandmother. But sprightly senior Winnie insists she doesn’t need looking after. What she does need is help decorating her historic mansion, Holiday House, for a seasonal town fundraiser. Abby warms to the festive task, but she’ll have to contend with her own personal Grinch: Winnie’s prickly grandson, Ethan Lancaster.
Ethan Lancaster is good at a lot of things. Relationships surely aren’t one of them. His ex-fiancée convinced Ethan he was incapable of love, and he believes her…up until the moment he impulsively kisses Abby. What is it about this vibrant woman and her sweet son that knocks his world off-kilter? He knows they’re leaving town after Christmas. He just didn’t expect they’d be taking a little of his heart with them. But as he and Abby work together on the magical Holiday House through the record cold weather, visions of a different future dance in his head…one filled with warmth, love and a new beginning for them both.

On the day before Thanksgiving, Abby, a young widow, and her son Christopher are on their longest road trip ever. Driving through the town of Silver Bells she feels like they’re on a Hallmark movie set. Lucy, Abbys old college roommate whose family owns Lancaster Hotels, has asked Abby to take care of her grandmother Winnie. Winnie had a serious fall and needs home care to avoid going to a facility Lucy is overseas and Abby will take care of Winnie until Lucy returns in a few weeks. Abby has time to do this before she and Christopher move to Austin. Oh, but wait…..Lucy has a brother, Ethan, who has insisted Winnie go to a rehab facility. Ethan is in Silver Bells too. He was not happy when Lucy told him Abby was coming to help. Ethan is stern and unfriendly ….but oh so gorgeous. Ethan tells Winnie he had made arrangements for her to stay in a nice new facility to which she promptly tells him he can un arrange it. As CEO of the families hotel chains he is used to taking and being in control. However this time he is wrong. Clearly Winnie is in charge. Then there is Lucy and José., Ethans good friend who also works for Lancaster Hotels. José doesn’t want to be another fling. Lucy isn’t ready for a serious commitment. Lucy and Ethans parents had had a horrible marriage. Clearly this has shaped them and affects their relationships. I could give more details but I don’t want to give too much away. This book held my attention to the end. The characters are flawed but relatable and lovable.
I received a complementary copy for review. All opinions are my own.
Good read. I enjoyed the characters and the plot of this book. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
This is the perfect story to get into the Christmas mood. Heartwarming and emotional, I loved the characters Abby and Ethan, Christopher, Winnie, and more. Filled with family and friends, it is a delightful story of moving forward, starting over, and learning to love.
Love can be a slippery slope but don’t forgo that slope because of fear!
I was given a copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Once again RaeAnne Thayne has written a delicious, cozy Christmas story. This time the setting is small-town Silver Bells, Colorado. Thayne is an expert at creating enchanting, welcoming communities with warm, friendly inhabitants that make me want to visit. I love the feeling of camaraderie among the people of her stories, and Christmas at Holiday House fits perfectly into this mold.
Widowed Abigail Powell is a compassionate, sweet heroine who is looking for a fresh start for herself and young son. When her friend Lucy needs someone to help her injured grandmother, Winnie, for a few weeks, Abby steps up and travels to Colorado. Ethan Lancaster is a competent, caring hero who finds himself interested in Abby and her son Christopher as they assist with his grandmother. It was fun to see their relationship change and develop. There is an additional substory with Lucy and her long-time friend, Jose. I had a special connection with the grandmother, since my name is Winnie, too. She’s a lot spunkier than I am, and I’m thinking of dying my hair pink to match hers!
This delightful tale is just the thing to get into the Christmas mood and a great addition to my collection of RaeAnne Thayne books. I recommend it to those who enjoy sweet Christmas stories. 4.5 stars
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
Christmas at Holiday House is a lovely holiday themed romance written in the amazing style of this author. She does a wonderful job telling small town stories with people you want to have as best friends, a town you want to be a part of and fall in love the way the hero and heroine do in this story. When you throw in Christmas, snow, hot chocolate and gingerbread houses it’s a recipe for falling in love in the best possible atmosphere. Even with the issues that Abby and Ethan had to overcome their journey to happy ever after was the best. I absolutely loved each and every character in this story as each one brought such a special aspect to the mix that made this one of the best Christmas romances I’ve read in a long time.
Oh my! What can I say about this book other than it’s fantastic. I love RaeAnne Thayne’s books, and this one was perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit. And who couldn’t use that right now. It’s a perfect story of starting over for Abby and Christopher. And the realization for both Ethan and Lucy that love is possible even if you came from a dysfunctional family. It all comes together in a magical house, Holiday House, in a magical town called Silver Bells, Colorado. I love, love, love this story.
No one can spin a holiday tale quite like Raeanne Thayne and this one does not disappoint. Christmas at Holiday House is a feel good story with not one but two romances to lift your heart. All the while the author paints a beautiful picture of snow covered fields, beautiful lights, and a quaint little town filled with wonderful characters and Christmas cheer all around. She makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of it all too. If you only pick up one holiday book this year make it this one. I highly recommend it.
4 1/2 STARS!
A small-town Christmas delight! I can always count on RaeAnne Thayne to bring me a sweet small town romance, and one filled with Christmas spirit is all the sweeter. The characters were easy to fall for, the atmosphere was magical and the love story super pleasing. I would have liked to have seen the ending developed slighter more with a magical Christmas morning for Christopher, but overall it was sweet, sentimental and delightful.
Abigail Powell is a doll. She knows she hasn’t given her son the best of holidays over the last couple of years without her husband, but after the new year they are starting a new adventure in a new town without all of the memories crowding around, so she’s happy to get the opportunity to help out a dear friend with her ailing grandmother in a magical Christmas town.
Ethan Lancaster starts out a bit Scrooge-like, but he quickly warms up and becomes enjoyable. He’s less than pleased that his grandmother is being contentious about her injury and he wants her on the mend properly. He eventually realized Abigail and her son are good for the situation.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a holiday read filled with love, laughter and a whole lot of heart.
Such a great Christmas story. Abby and her 5 year old son travel to Colorado to help a dear friend out. Her Grandmother fell and injured herself and Abby is a nurse. This sets the stage for family, love and community. Abby and Christopher fall in love with Colorado and all their new friends, most of all Ethan, her best friends brother. The beauty of the season is well represented and the story flows well.
The characters are well developed and the conversation flows. I loved it.
Abby Powell and her son agree to travel to Silver Springs, Colorado to help her friend’s grandmother, Winnie Lancaster, recuperate after a fall. The trip offers a bonus of Christmas cheer and snow for a memorable holiday for the widow and young boy. Soon, Abby is drawn into all of the holiday plans that Winnie is involved with and loving all of the wonderful experiences. She also gets to know Winnie’s grandson, Ethan, and begins to look forward to his warm kisses.
I loved this heartwarming Christmas story and I hope that will be more stories about the residents of Silver Springs in the future.
Thanks to the publisher for an ARC; all opinions are my own.
Author RaeAnne Thayne delivers a sweet holiday romance full of traditions and charming characters, set in the small town of Silver Bells, Colorado. Our main heroine, Abby, and her 5-year-old son Christopher take a detour to this picturesque town at Christmastime as a favor to her dear college friend, Lucy. Abby is a nurse who is in between jobs. Lucy knows Abby is the perfect person to take care of her grandmother Winnie after her fall. Of course, Lucy’s brother Ethan arrives to help although he has a different idea as to what is best for Winnie. The two butting heads of Abby and Ethan turn into a budding romance, with young Christopher often stealing the show. All set during the wonderful activities of the Christmas holidays, this is a heart-warming story of second chances for the endearing characters RaeAnne Thayne always develops in her Hallmark-like romances. This story has a bonus secondary romance for Lucy and her best friend Jose. All the holiday magic leads to a lovable Happily Ever After ending that delivers all the feels.
I loved this book!
Two love stories in one. Ethan and Lori have scars from their parents constant falling in and out of love. They both need special people to bring it out of them.
Christmas at Holiday House by RaeAnne Thayne.
Abrigail Powell and Ethan Lancaster are the main two characters.
Abigail is a nurse and a single mom to Christopher getting ready to move cities when her best friend talks her into going to care for her grandmother Winnie in Sliver Bells, Colorado. Abrigail and Christopher arrive at Holiday House to find that Ethan is trying to convince Winnie to go into rehab and Winnie is totally against that because she wants her house decorated for Christmas and wants to do all the activities that she normally does. Along the way while working together to give Winnie what she wants Abrigail and Ethan fall in love. This was a wonderful book and I totally recommend to anyone looking for a great book to read.
Christmas At Holiday House is a wonderful story of family and traditions and inclusion. The perfect read for the holiday season! I loved the setting and wish I could go to Holiday House for Christmas too!
A warm, clean holiday romance that touches on some very deep-seated feelings for all the characters in this story! Abby Powell, and her son Christopher, are spending a few short months at Holiday House for a temporary nursing assignment. It’s a simplistic explanation but the story that the author tells is so touching and will grab you right from the start; there’s no way I could do it better.
One of the…causes? Effects? Benefits…is the arrival of the son of her patient, Ethan Lancaster. I liked Ethan, although I found him to be a bit contained about his feelings. It was such fun to see him…grow…and his personality come to life. I especially loved watching him with Christopher. And speaking of Christopher, what a wonderful little boy! He is just adorable and so deserving of his mother’s love. He cracked me up at times, too, but watching him pierce the icy shell that Ethan had erected around his heart, well, it made this holiday story worth it, at least to me.
I hope that at some point we get to know more about Abby and Ethan because although there was an HEA, I’d love to see and read more. Another great holiday story from Ms. Thayne.
Wow! This is the first book I have read by this author and I adored it. It was easy to read and flowed so smoothly between chapters. The characters were heartwarming, and the town of Silver Bells was so charming. I was instantly enchanted with the book once I started reading.
Abigail “Abby” Powell had just been surviving after her husband died. She was ready to have a fresh start and move to a new town. When Lucy, her best friend, called and needed someone to stay with her grandmother, Abby was glad to help before her move to Texas. Winnie, Lucy’s grandmother, lived in Silver Bells, Colorado in a historical house named Holiday House. Abby was excited to create a wonderful Christmas experience for her son Christopher. She wasn’t sure about helping Winnie decorate Holiday House for the Silver Belles’ fundraiser but once she started, she had plenty of help. She grew to love the town and all the new friends they had made.
Ethan Lancaster, Winnie’s grandson, wanted Winnie to cancel the fundraiser since she needed to recuperate from her fall. They convinced him that Winnie would only supervise so she could recover. Ethan tried to escape Winnie’s attempt at matchmaker, but he couldn’t tell her no. As Ethan gets to know Abby and Christopher, he is charmed by them. After his ex-fiancé broke up with him and told him he was not capable of love, Ethan thought he would never feel love. Abby and Christopher touch his heart in a way he had never experienced, and he wanted them to stay in Silver Bells. He wanted a future with them as a family. Can he convince Abby to give him a chance?
I’m so glad I found this author and had a chance to read this book. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to future books from this author.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas at Holiday House by RaeAnne Thayne once again is another wonderful read by this author. This time she has written a sweet, charming and sentimental Christmas story. I would have to say the way she has captured the setting of Silver Bells, lends a beautiful backdrop for the characters of the storyline. This is a beautifully written story about second chance love that touches the heart. I certainly would recommend this clean romance to anyone, looking for a holiday read that touches the heart.
I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.
What’s better than a RaeAnne Thayne book? A RaeAnne Thayne Christmas book! Her books are always heartwarming, light and yummy to read, but Christmas at Holiday House also gives you the extras like hot chocolate in front of a fire, decorated Christmas trees and lots of holiday spirit.
This story has a couple of romances going on, one plays a major part in the story and the other is more minor. Abby and Ethan may get off to a rocky start when Abby arrives to take care of Ethan’s grandmother after her accident, but the attraction is there and once acted upon comes as a surprise to both. Abby and her son are leaving in two weeks. What do they do?
The other romance is a friends to lovers. Ethan’s sister and his best friends have been friends for a long time, but Jose wants more now. The problem is Lucy’s parents and their failed relationships have soured Lucy on the idea of “love”. Jose is determined to have it all, but Lucy wants a quick roll in the hay. I really liked the discord in this couple’s relationship.
This is another lovely romance by RaeAnne Thayne that I heartily recommend for people who like romances by Brenda Novak, Sherryl Woods or Debbie MaComber.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
A good, heartwarming Christmas story. Loved the characters, especially Christopher. Abby has been a widow for a couple of years and decided that she and her son needed a change. They would move from Phoenix to Austin after they go to Colorado to help her best friend’s grandmother. She thought it would be a great time to give her son some holiday memories. They got that and so much more. Ethan had broken up with his fiancee a year ago and wasn’t sure he had the capacity to love. He and his sister were raised by very selfish parents. They were shuttled around between their parents for years until their grandmother decided they were to stay with her. Abby has shown Ethan that he does have the capacity to love as he loves Abby and Christopher. Will she reconsider her move to Austin and stay with him?
