Taming of the Sheenans – Book 1
Since the loss of her family in a plane crash, Harley Diekerhoff has led a quiet life and keeps to herself. Taking the temporary job at the Copper Mountain Ranch as widower Brock Sheenan’s housekeeper seems perfect for her. But her calm cocoon is invaded with the arrival of Brock’s pre-teen twins, Mack and Molly who’ve never experienced a proper Christmas and … a proper Christmas and before she knows it, Harley’s determined to make their holiday perfect.
Annoyed at first by Harley’s interference, Brock is secretly pleased she’s changed Mack and Molly’s world. It doesn’t hurt that he finds Harley incredibly attractive, fierce, smart and passionate. It’s also an added bonus that she’s not afraid to challenge him and get his blood heated! But when sparks fly and the attractions sizzles between them, Harley’s not so sure she can handle something permanent with this dark, taciturn cowboy who doesn’t know how to let her in. But Brock is determined to hold on to her and praying for a Christmas miracle…

It was a delightful, Christmas romance. Predictable with a couple of twists that kept it interesting. Perfect for the holiday season!
Beautiful
Harley came to work for Brock as a temporary employee because she didn’t want to spend the holidays with her family. There were to many memories of her lost children there. She was happy working for Brock until his twins showed up. She not so much upset about them as he didn’t tell her. Can two people who has lost much heal each other & find happiness.
Both the man and the woman have barriers up due to tragedy in their lives. He’s been isolating himself for over 10 years and she for 3 years. Attraction is there on both sides. The supporting characters were nice additions to the story. The story wraps up happily, but there are some things that are left hanging like the daughter being expelled. One sex scene that can be skipped over.
What a beautiful Christmas story! I absolutely fell in love with these characters and I totally don’t care that they fell in love so quickly! I will definitely be reading more from Jane Porter!
“Christmas at Copper Mountain” by Jane Porter
An easy yet an emotional read, at least for me, this story just tore at my heart-strings. It is a contemporary romance that I would say is sweet and clean. I am now rather curious about the other 5 stories in this series. This story is worth the read. Happy Reading ! !
This was a wonderfully touching story. Perfect for reading close to Christmas. Two people meant to be together, find a future together.
This is one powerful Christmas love story, it has everything you would want in a story. The sad parts are very sad, but that just makes the happiness all that more special!
Lovely Christmas story. I would have liked it a little longer and more development of the characters. This story is near the fictitious town of Marietta Montana. All the books I have read set in this town, by multiple author’s, have been good.
4.5 Stars!
Jane Porter has another winner with Christmas at Copper Mountain, the first book from the Taming of the Sheehans series. This is a modern romance, about a family that I truly enjoy reading about. I must mention that anything written by Ms. Porter is an automatic purchase for me. This book blew me away with its engaging plot, three-dimensional characters and emotional circumstances.
This is the type of romance that I like best, with a couple who seem to not get along but develop an unexpected emotional connection. The character development was great. The backstory for each of the leads grew organically as the information was needed to explain behavior and emotional responses. The physical love was handled by fading to off screen, which works for me. I thought the secondary characters all played their parts in moving this story forward while building a setting for future related stories. It was an enjoyable read and I hope to spend more time in this author’s world.
Always good to see a second chance for love and happily ever after.
Christmas At Copper Mountain is book #4 in the Copper Mountain Christmas series. It is also Book #1 in The Taming of the Sheenans. It is written by Jane Porter. It is the story of Harley and Brock.
Harley lost her husband and children three years ago in a horrific plane crash. She decides to skip Christmas with her family this time and go to Marietta, Montana to fill in working as housekeeper for Brock at his ranch. It’s only for a few months and she figures it will get her through the holiday season. Harley was just trying to work to get through her pain and try to forget the past. She doesn’t know that there might be something in the works for her.
I loved how beautifully written this story is.
I enjoyed this book and the charters have depth to them.
Wow! Amazing!
Jane Porter does a wonderful job at pulling you into this story and making you genuinely feel for each of the characters invovled. She then tugs at your heart while making you laugh and cry! What a amazing read!
Harley comes to work for Brock temporarily and finds they couldnt be more opposite. She finds comfort in this at first, however, after some time together she finds they might not be so different after all. Will she be able to break down his barrier?
Christmas at Copper Mountain by Jane Porter is book one in The Taming of the Sheenan’s series. The book is actually a very cute novel with some serious undertones.
Harley Dierkhoff had come to the isolated ranch belonging to Brock Sheenan to simply work as housekeeper. She was not hunting for someone to marry but instead somewhere that she could grieve in private. Her husband and her three children had been killed in a plane crash three years prior to this date. She was still in mourning. She had not, however, told Brock about her children because it seemed a moot point. She was only a temporary housekeeper until January which was another plus to this job. Still, she loved it on this little ranch.
A beautiful story written with a lot depth and emotion. This story would make a great Christmas movie.
Harley Diekerhoff lost her husband and children three years ago to a horrendous plane crash. She still grieves for them. Not able to bear the holidays this year, she decides to skip Christmas with her family and goes to Marietta Montana to fill in on a temporary job working as housekeeper for Brock Sheenan on his ranch. It’s only for three months. That should get her past the holidays so she doesn’t have to be reminded by her family of what she has lost. She enjoys her job until unexpected guests arrive and causes a lot of memories to creep back up on her. She was just trying to work and forget her past and pain. Little does she know Christmas miracles are real and they do happen to people when they least expect it. Many angels have been working on this one. Will Harley accept the gift that has been given to her and Brock or will she quit her job and go back home just to avoid her feelings?
Loved this story, finding love again.
This was one of the first books of Ms Porter that I read. While it was entertaining, and sweet, it lost a little realism with the story moving too fast and the story line needing to be more developed. The story has hope and the author is one to keep reading. I love these stories of the good folks in Marietta.
Since reading this story, I’ve since picked up other books of Ms Porter, and she hasn’t disappointed and is a delight to read. Best to you Ms Porter, keep writing on.
It was OK. A combination of cheesy and trite, but still had a few redeeming qualities. Both H/h have tragic stories. Both are living in the past even though they think they’re moving forward. Everything happens way too quickly, there’s little character or story development. The twins are the redeeming quality in the story. If you’re looking for something to take up time, doesn’t really require your involvement, yet goes quickly you may want to check it out.
What a fantastic little find! This story was only about 100 pages long but it did not disappoint. It’s amazing how much character building was able to go into such a short story. By the end I thought I knew the two protagonists personally and I felt for them. The setting is truly magical and makes me want to move to Montana pronto. I’ll take me some hard working, strong, sexy cowboys and a cabin up in the mountains any day. This book is very similar to a Hallmark Christmas movie, but with a slightly better plot line. It has all the sad story background you would find from Hallmark, the sexual tension, romance, snow, etc. This was a very well written book and it makes me want to veg out on some sappy Christmas shows and read more of Jane Porter’s work.
