Everything Emma Thompson owns fits in a suitcase she moves from one roach infested motel to another. She and Jake, her five-year-old son who can see the future, are running from the men intent on taking him. Emma will do anything to protect him even when it means accepting the help of a stranger named Will. Jake insists she needs Will, but Emma’s never needed help before. And even though she’s … learned to trust her son, it doesn’t mean she trusts Will.
Mercenary Will Davenport lives in the moment. Hauling Emma to South Dakota should have been an easy job, but his employer neglected to tell him about Emma’s freaky son and the gunmen hot on her trail. Instinct tells him this job is trouble, but nothing can prepare him for Jake’s proclamation that Will is The Chosen One, who must protect Emma from the men hunting her power. A power she doesn’t know she has.
Will protects Emma and Jake on a cross-country chase from the men pursuing them, while struggling with memories from his past, his apprehension of Jake, and his growing attraction to Emma. Will’s overwhelming urge to protect Emma surprises him, especially since it has nothing to do with his paycheck and possibly everything to do with the tattoo Jake branded on his arm. Rich and powerful men are desperate to capture Emma, and Will must discover why before it’s too late.

I am not a big fan of this urban paranormal type of book. I read it because I LOVE Denise Grover Swanks writing and I have read all of her other series. I am SO glad I read it. I loved the books and of course fall in love with the characters just line in all of her other books. If you are on the fence on reading it because of the genre, don’t let …
Different
Chosen is an urban fantasy book by Denise Grover Swank. I had previously read one of Denise’s other books and I enjoyed her writing so I decided to give this book a try even though I have not really read many urban fantasy books. I really enjoyed reading this book and the story is interesting to me. Even though I do not usually read fantasy or …
The book started out decent. Lots action. And as the story went on the action continued and I was intrigued but the ending sucked. The main character came off as a strong independent woman and by the end of the book even after everything she’d been through the author reduced her to a whiney blubbering woman who could not be without her man. …
Great read, couldn’t put it down!
I really enjoyed this first book in the series. I am not loving how they left it with Jake held by others with his mom not knowing where or how he is.
was a great book, and I would read the others in the series if they came up free or reduced enough to let me talk mys of into purchasing them.
It was a bit predictable. Will not read the others of that series.
Enjoyed the back and forth format between the main characters.
Weak ending. Even if book is part of a series each book should feel concluded and this left you hanging.
Wish the boy hadn’t said it was unchangeable because that sure doesn’t give you hope to read the rest
Interesting premise. Keeps you wondering what is really going on.
Loved it.
A fast paced story of a Mother staying one step ahead of bad people who want to take her young son away from her. The great lengths she goes to protect her son and herself is inspiring.
Love this entire series! I had to buy the other books in the series because I was totally evolved with these characters. Can’t say enough good things about this book.A definite must read for people that like a little paranormal and a little fantasy mixed with a thriller.
I had to keep reading it, very compelling.
I couldn’t put this book down.
What a great book to introduce a great series. Action by the ton!!!!
Predictable terminator like.
Really enjoy a book that moves along and is not so obvious in the plot. I had to go back a few times to back track the plot, like what? No way, wow.
