Garrett, a retired Army scout, returns home to the Oldest City in the United States, to open his own roastery, one of his lifelong dreams. But more than his love for coffee, Garrett has always wanted to be a dad. After many failed relationships, and what seems like a permanently broken heart, he decides to make fatherhood a reality on his own terms, and forge his way through the adoption process.… process.
Debbie is a youth advocate with a local adoption organization, who loves her job and the children they represent. St. Augustine is a new city for her, but she quickly falls in love with the small shops and businesses that line the downtown area. While she’s content in her professional life, she still feels something is missing. Even being in the most romantic city in the country can’t make up for her terrible dating experiences, and she swears off men, convinced it just isn’t in the cards for her.
When Debbie walks into Garrett’s shop, looking for sponsors for her fundraiser, it appears fate is on his side, and he’ll finally become the parent he’d always wanted to be. But when disaster threatens to strike, Garrett may get more than he bargained for.
Will a good cup of coffee be all it takes for love to find its way through this romantic Old City?

A well researched light romance on the trials and tribulations a veteran faces when he chooses to foster a child. Garrett is a strong hero who seems to have everything: A loving family, a successful business and friends. But he wants a child. And along with the child comes the beautiful, funny and sweet child advocate, Debbie. This is a story with an inspirational message without being preachy. Its about good people doing the right thing and was refreshing to read. I hope there’s a book 2. I’m still thinking about this story three days after I finished it. That’s the sign of a good read.
I was so impressed with this beautiful love story of not only romantic love but of the love that is shown when some one chooses to be a foster parent or to adopt. Garrett is truly an amazing man, a Phoenix rising from the ashes to achieve the goals he set for his life but without the woman he had dreamed to be by his side. Debbie, also devastated by love and lies, moved from Vermont to Florida to escape the rumors and innuendos that threatened to destroy her hopes, dreams and self esteem. It was a chance meeting that brought these two wonderful people together and would spark the fire of the possibilities of what could be – a father, a son, and the love of a lifetime. I am so grateful to have been introduced to the work of Fiona Tulle and will be seeking to read more of her words.

I had the amazing opportunity to Beta read Chosen For Me so I had read it 3 times but I’m just as excited to read it again to write my review! I am amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of research that had to go on for the topic of Florida fostering/adoption to make this story flow and to give the characters knowledge of the subject. It’s also interesting about the process of beans to coffee, which I knew nothing about! I also like the awareness made to the deaf community, making me wish I hadn’t forgotten so much from my ASL classes. Also, Author Tulle’s description and credits to St. Augustine is like a virtual tour! I’m in love with the characters; Garrett is strong, former military with a soft side for children. Debbie’s education has her advocating for children, which is how these two come to meet! Debbie’s co-workers had me laughing several times! Garrett’s parents were wonderfully supportive!
Overall, this is a believable, modern day story. Chosen For Me is G rated, which is refreshing! I applaud Author Tulle for bringing awareness to the plight of children, for throwing in some attraction and keeping it clean! Hoping for more from these characters!
