I was so tense the entire time I was reading this . . . it was just so incredibly intense, both the story and the emotions, and there was no way I could have predicted that ending. No way. My ship is still sailing (and then some!) which makes me really happy, but wow, what a cliffhanger after a whole lot of crazy at the end! I knew I’d need book three right away, but literally, I need it this very moment. I don’t think I’m going to get any sleep worrying about this girl and the predicament (to put it mildly) she’s in.
Wow..what a twist. Who do you trust when there are spies everywhere and there is a bounty on your head?
Vi has mapped out her plan of escape so she can rescue her father and save the world but she didn’t plan for the complete and utter heartbreak she would experience. With no time to waste Vi will have to find the strength to carry on even though the life she once knew and the one she once longed for are quickly unraveling.
This part of Vi’s quest moves pretty quickly. There’s a good amount of action and suspense with a bit of romance mixed in.
I liked seeing Vi’s character grow. She’s becoming wiser and stronger with each new discover and experience. I think by the end of her journey she will be quite a force to be reckoned with.
I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
Wow this is a fantastic read. This read grabs you right from the first page. And has you on the edge of your seat. Vi to me is a heroine, The Author has really brought the character out, and the scenes I love how vivid I can see them in my mind as I read. And the book cover is fantastic as well. This is definitely a must read. Especially if you love Magic and an Epic read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author to give a voluntary honest review. This review contains only my own thoughts and opinions of this book. First and foremost, thank you Elise Kova for the opportunity and generosity, and of course for a thrilling read.
This was an amazing continuation of Vortex visions to say the least. Finally leaving the North and getting a deeper exploration of the world, getting some more drama, betrayal and best of all the romance.
While I felt that the beginning of the book and some other parts dragged a bit, mostly because I was too excited for the family reunion, the clever plot twists sprinkled out throughout the story and the adventure made it all worth it in the end. Especially the development between Vi and Taavin. It had my toes curling and even though they technically were not together in the book it never annoyed me the way it usually does in romance books, where the love interest is separated for the majority of the story. Elise Kova found a really good way to keep their relationship building up despite the separation and considering how the book ended I am amped up for the romance in book three.
What I loved the most about Chosen Champion though is the big betrayal. I did feel that there were something fishy about that character already in book one, but I never expected that (no spoilers) to happen. The way it was written was so tragically beautiful, having followed the characters from the beginning and seeing it turn out the way it did. It was heartbreaking and made me feel so much for Vi with what she had to do and endure. It made the other great plot twists pale in comparison, which sound bad, but only shows how complex and thought out the story is. It makes me very hopeful for the next books in the series, seeing how Vi will manage move on from it and all the other struggles and unanswered questions she will have to face.
One thing that was somewhat of a mood killer for me however, was Vi reuniting with her mother and brother. It had been so hyped up in book one, but when it finally happened it was underwhelming. It wasn’t bad in any way. I just felt that for being apart the majority of her life, not even having met her brother ever, I had liked for a much more impactful and emotional meeting. As it was, it felt more like they had only been apart for a week instead of Vi’s whole life. Although, I did like the fact that Vi and Romulin didn’t get along from the get go. It felt more realistic that they couldn’t fall into a loving sibling relationship like they both had thought, considering they only knew each other from letters. This also makes me look forward to keep reading. Since there wasn’t much time for Vi to actually develop a stronger bond, neither with her brother or with Vhalla, I really do hope this will be improved on in the next books.
I am prepared to say that I liked this book better than the first, finally getting some long anticipated answers as well as more intriguing questions. Seeing relationships build up and also break down and step into a whole new world with new races and magic. This is exactly what an epic fantasy book should be.
Another solid story from This author! She kept up with a wonderful story that she started in book 1. This book finds Vi learning more about her magic and finding love as well as a betrayal. We do learn a bit more about her friends. I was entranced and easily finished this rather quickly.
This is the second in the series and it complemented the first story perfectly. I want to say how much i loved the cover of these books. They replicate the characters perfectly. I did listen to this on audio and Sarah Sampino did another wonderful job. The different voices were lovely. Easy to tell who was talking.
I’m utterly gutted and heartbroken!! I’m absolutely gobsmacked!! I feel like I can’t trust that ending… I’m not completely convinced that it was real! This was one sad and unbelievable edition! A betrayal totally rocks everything and leaves not only Vi, but the reader as well, just totally shocked and gasping for breath. This was beautifully written and the emotional depth was such a very deep well. When everything is falling apart, it’s to Taavin that Vi turns to. Their moments are becoming even more meaningful and precious. While I cannot say that I enjoyed every word, because some just broke me a bit, this was truly one memorable and unforgettable book! Huge applause to Ms. Kova for creating such an intriguing and captivating addition Her characters and plots always weave their way into your heart. I just can’t praise this, nor her quite enough!
I loved the expansion of the Air Awakens world that Kova has created. It began nicely in Vortex Visions as we explore Vi Solaris’ world of the North, but throughout Chosen Champion that world is deepened and fleshed out in ways that newly expand this world in ways we never saw in Air Awakens. I loved Vi’s journey into places familiar like the Crossroads as well as Lord Erion’s home in the West. It was so cool getting to experience what was hinted at in terms of the Le Dan wealth and seeing the estate and more. But I digress.
I was left loving Vi but feeling like her friends were a bit “flat” in Vortex Visions. Well, Kova grows and deepens Vi’s guard, Jayme, in ways that you’d never imagine and that propel the story forward. I could not have anticipated one particular turning point involving her. I won’t spoil it by saying more, but it was nice to have something so unexpected happen.
I also loved how Kova deepened the relationship between Vi and Taaven. I cannot wait to see what happens between them next.
Long story short, I anxiously await the third book in this series!!!
I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
Chosen champion was a sequel worthy of its characters and full of unstoppable movemtn and action. As Vi tries to find a way to reachTaavin, the danger of the epidemic of the White Death spreads and no one is safe anymore. There are many twists and turns in this book with mysyteries and prophecies that may or may not come true.
I also fear that Taavin knows that either he or Vi will dies but I can’t confirm it. I hope for the best. There is a plot twist I didn’t see it coming and a cliffhanger that made me demand more! I seriously can’t wait for the final (?) book in the series!
I had a hard time getting into Vortex Visions in the beginning, but when I started Chosen Champion, I didn’t want to put it down! What a fast paced rollercoaster ride! Can’t wait for failed future!
