After everything that happened, all I wanted was to go to the Academy, and maybe, just for once, get to be normal. But now my secret is out, with repercussions I could never have dreamed of and I can’t trust anyone. Even the ones I thought I could. With whispers of murder still in the air, and lines between friend and foe becoming blurry, the shadows that were once my closest ally, could just be … could just be my own personal nightmare.

Chosen is book two in Sloane Murphy’s Black Water Academy series. Which continues on from where book one Marked ends.
After everything that happened, all I wanted was to go to the Academy, and maybe, just for once, get to be normal.
But now my secret is out, with repercussions I could never have dreamed of and I can’t trust anyone.
Even the ones I thought I could.
With whispers of murder still in the air, and lines between friend and foe becoming blurry, the shadows that were once my closest ally, could just be my own personal nightmare.
“The Chosen is Gifted with the curse of four. Four to bind. Four to love. Four to sacrifice. Before death is due to walk the land, the strongest of us all will fall.”
Eden is at a lost, everything she and Dannika struggled to hide has been discovered. With her secrets revealed, Eden must learn to trust and except help from her bonded. Eden is the Chosen from the prophecy and she must learn to control the powers of the four Supernatural races, with the help from Creed, Cam, Kane and newest bond Ziniyah, Eden must control her vampire, Mer, Fae and Shifter powers to survive the Fae Trials.
This book just like book one kept me on the edge of my seat. I wasn’t able to put this book down, read it in one seating. I loved the development of all the characters in this book. I did feel bad for Ethan this time as he struggled with his feelings, I do think there is more between him and Eden that is yet to be revealed. (Possibly true mates, hmmm) not sure but I’m hoping as he feels for and she for him even without the bond of the chosen between them. I loved watching Eden grow and develop her powers with her training. The fascination of the powers and abilities is awe inspiring.
A warning if your are not a fan of Reverse Harems then this may not be for you, as Edens powers and bonds grow with the guys her feelings and emotions get confusing for her to not want the guys.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, and makes you even more curious about the secrets and deadly tests that are awaiting Eden in the next book.
“The Chosen is Gifted with the curse of four. Four to bind. Four to love. Four to sacrifice. Before death is due to walk the land, the strongest of us all will fall.”
Everything she struggled to hide was discovered. Her journey continues and now she needs a new talent: learning to trust.
The secrets of Eden’s past were gradually revealed. But there are still many uncertain things in her journey: how she will deal with her powers, how she will live with those who, through prophecy, are attached to her, and how to survive the secret and deadly tests that are performed by the fairy people: The Trials.
The author can convey to the reader all the atmosphere of uncertainty that hangs over the characters and the academy. This suspense keeps the reader hooked, as watches the unfolding events in Eden’s life and the people associated with it.
Ethan’s return, Z’s arrival and the new relationship dynamics of Eden, Creed, Cam and Kane keep the narrative full of new events, including the discovery of new powers for Eden, while trying to understand the strong ties that are stirring up her mind, her body and can confuse her feelings and her heart.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, as expected, and makes the reader even more curious about the secret, legendary, and deadly tests awaiting Eden in Hunter, the next book in the series.
4.6 stars
This is the second book in the Black Water Academy and picks up exactly where the first book left off. It is not a standalone. Eden is struggling to come to grips with her new reality and learning to use her powers. Fortunately, she has four, five if you count Ethan, alpha men to help and protect her along with her bestie, Ruby. As the men try and train her to prepare for the Trials, Eden is finding a new strength welling up inside her giving more credence to the possibility that she actually is the Chosen one. Coming to grips with what fate has planned for her is leaving her and her men feeling on edge. Can the men hold to their agreement when it comes to Eden? Will she survive the Trials? Once again Ms. Murphy has composed a storyline that pulls the reader forward and gives the feeling of being a part of the characters’ plight. Filled with intrigue, drama and passion this is one that needs to be read from cover to cover and once started, it will keep you stuck to your seat. As with the first, it ends in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book Hunted coming out in 2020. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Once I started this I couldn’t put it down. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next and Sloanne Murphy didn’t disappoint me!
I thought Eden had problems before she certainly has more now! although I am not sure being bonded to 4 hot guys is a real hardship 😉
I was completely gripping watching Eden try to navigate her new powers and knowledge with the prophecy that is being levelled at her feet. Shes so young and having to deal with so much, I just wanted to wrap her up in a hug and protect her from everything. This girl has more strength then she knows not just in her powers but in herself as she has embraced everything that is thrown at her.
If you haven’t read Marked then I suggest you read that before starting this one as it picks up where that one left off and there is so much going on that you need to know what has happened to lead up to this point.
I am honestly on the edge of my seat needing the next book NOW after where this one left off! im intrigues and scared with what’s to come next.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
WOW this book is amazing, I was unable to put it down once I started it
It picks up straight from the end of book 1, and is so fast paced it leaves you breathless and panting, in a good way.
We start to learn a lot more out about Eden and her powers in this book, but I have a feeling there may be even more to her??
This book introduces a few new characters, but mainly follows Eden and her friends.
I’d definitely recommend this series of book’s because they are addictive and really well written
Chosen by Sloane Murphy is the second book in her Black Water Acdemy Serial. Chosen is not a stand alone. For best redaing experience I recommed to read the books in order. The previous book is Marked.
After reading Marked, which I absolutely loved btw, I had high expectations for Chosen. I had to now what happens to Eden and her mates. Eden is the chosen of the profecy, so it seems, and now she prepares for the trials and explores her powers and the bonds.
Chosen is a pnr romance that stays with you. But yes, there’s a but the book is a novella , means it took me no time to read the captivating and excellent written story. Chosen ends in a cliffie and continues in Hunted, coming October 2020.
