Contemporary Romance Duet: Book 1
Wow…that’s exactly how I felt after finishing my ARC of Choosing Us. Even though I beta read the book and was able to see it come together, I was still left speechless after finishing. If you’re expecting any less angst because M’s returning to her contemporary vibes then you’re clearly new to the twisted mind that is M. Robinson’s. So this is just a fair warning because M. just loves to torture us, Choosing Us us apart of a duet so be prepared for the cliffhanger. Trust me, Robinson definitely is up to some twisted magic with the Pierced Hearts duet, so don’t start if you can’t wait for the second book, Choosing You to come out. Choosing Us grabs you from the first page and holds you captive until the very last page, where you’re ultimately wondering how to feel about everything. Dr. Aiden Pierce is going to be a hero and book boyfriend that will definitely bring you all the feels and then some. From the moment we meet him you can’t help but grow attached and with that, hook, line and sinker M. has you right where she wants you. Seeing the man he is today and what led him to become that person in the past has to be one of the most beautiful yet heartbreaking plots M. has managed to come up with. Not to mention she gives us some of the most relatable female characters to connect with and this comes out perfectly in this novel. Although all of Robinson’s females are beautiful inside and out, she’s truly given us a protagonist you’ll want to have as a friend. As always the Queen of Angst has delivered a story full of heartbreak, love, laughs, and the angst that we all know and love. Dr. Pierce is definitely going to have you questioning why you torture yourself by reading M’s books after you start randomly crying and by the end you probably will be pulling your hair out, throwing your kindle, and blowing up M’s PMs and DMs but I promise you definitely will want to join us on yet another M. Robinson emotional rollercoaster. Choosing Us
Choosing Us broke my heart. Just when I thought my heart might possibly be on the mend, you ripped it out of my chest. This one made me bawl my eyes out. It just killed me. I need the next book! I have to see them get the happy ending they deserve. There is so much more story to be told ans I have a feeling I am going to still be crying, but the ending will have been worth all of it.
I have been on the M. Robinson train for two years now and with every new book she releases, she completely mind blows me! I knew Aiden’s story was going to be GRAND! M took this story back to a familiar place of contemporary love with a heavy dose of emotions going haywire from the start of Choosing Us. The moment I opened the book, I had that invisible, yet heavy weight of an ANGST boulder lay upon my shoulders. My fingers were anxiously waiting to turn the pages but I knew the moment I started reading, It was going on incredible journey in which two souls decide to take together against all odds.
I am left wide open, with wounds that only M can heal with her words. Choosing Us has left me with an incredible space taking up in my heart that ONLY belongs to the beauty of a love story and the beast of emotions that come along the way! Top Rated Book that can only sit in its own category of GREATNESS!
This story was flawlessly written, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from Monica. I read until I had no more to read. The power of her words, just makes you feel every emotion of each character in this story. I swear I was in another world sitting on an invisible floating chair and felt what each character was feeling as I read. That is the enormity you feel when reading one of M’s books, especially this one. I can’t wait to read what happens next! I am so ready for the next installment of Aiden’s story.
SO good! This book, O! M! G! It took a hold of me from the very start. It’s one of those stories that will stay with me forever. I thought I loved M. Robinson’s books before, but this one is my favorite. I hung on to every word, eating up everything bit of information about these characters she gave us. She held my heart in her hands from the first chapter, and she’s not letting go until the end of the next book! I can’t wait to find out what she has in store for us in book 2. This was one epic read!
What did I just read? Expect the unexpected!
Wow… I just finished reading this book and not sure how to convey what I am feeling. My emotions are all over the place. It was a very unexpected plot, but I loved everything about it. It had me hooked and not wanting to let go! As always, you won’t get any spoilers from me . Aiden’s childhood had my heart breaking. I’m very intrigued with what M has up her sleeve next. I’m loving all the characters and after that muthaeffin cliffy I need to know what happens next! #TopFavoritesof2019
Seriously no FUCKS were given by M. Robinson when she was writing Choosing Us. She went right for the kill in the mother fucking Prologue. This just solidifies my theory that Robinson takes a real sadistic pleasure in tormenting her readers. And this book has all the parts of a M. Robinson book that makes it so good that you cannot bring yourself to put it down:
1. complete asshole male character you can’t help but love
2. female character that you just connect to
3. never ending emotional roller coaster ride
4. a love story that is so gripping that it stays with you after you close the book
Let me start off with saying that Choosing Us is the first book in a duet so if you cannot stand a good mother fucking cliffy or having to wait for the next book to be released, then by all means wait and read Aiden’s story when you can get your hands on both books.
Now to the book itself. There is so many different layers to the story that i do recommend telling everyone to leave you the fuck alone so you can concentrate, and make sure that you go in with an open mind. And I say this because you may think you know how this story is going to play out, but you will be sitting back questioning everything you thought. I know that was me for the entire time I was reading. Then when I got to the end I found myself having more questions for myself if what I think is still to come and what really just happened is right, or is Robinson playing evil as shit mind tricks.
Choosing Us took Robinson back to the contemporary side of romance, so if you read and loved her Good Ol’ Boys series, then this will be your next favorite read.
Wow, this book!!! This was utterly incredible. Right from the start it captured my attention and felt as though I had been punched in the gut as I experienced the heartache of the characters. Not only did this book capture my attention but also my heart. Amazing writing style and now I am immediately buying book two in order to continue the characters’ stories. New favourite author.
I swear Monica is the QUEEN of ANGST!!!! This book had all the feels and with the ending she leaves you hanging.
Tell me, how should I feel? After reading Choosing Us, I’m at a loss for words. This book has all the feels and they start with a blurb that has heartache written all over it. Heartache would be one thing but once you get to the “meat and potatoes” of the book you go from heartache to soul crushing.
Soul crushing. What happens when your soul mate “can’t do it anymore”? Soul crushing. Life altering. Devastation. An in this case, the good doctor isn’t as wonderful as we remember him. Life has definitely thrown him a curveball and it hit him in the solar plexus.
With the soul crushing hit and those that keep coming, it’s no surprise M. Robinson ended this book with a doozy of a cliffhanger. I have no idea how this is going to play out. With two warring fActions in my heart and a brain screaming something else entirely, I’m lost almost as much as Aiden is. I am so nervous for what the future holds but I can’t wait to read it.
Oh and if you don’t have tissues handy, you might want to grab some!

I am trying to formulate the words to express this book. M Robinson has done it again. I cried, I laughed, was extremely surprised, was angry and I loved every amazing second of it. My heart felt like it was put in a blender for the entire ride and I would not change a thing. Robinson lived up to her tile as the “Queen of Angst” and left me speechless. Dr Aiden Pierce has definitely won my heart and I have no idea how I am going to wait for the conclusion of this page turning duet. All hail the queen.
Such an emotional story! I literally had my heart wrung out like a wet wash cloth! I held onto every word, absorbing all the heartache that left me breathless!! I cant imagine the devastation and chaos that one might experience through tragedy!! At least the humor had me giggling! Another amazing book by M.Robinson that will leave you craving more and ponder of whats to come!!
What an emotional roller coaster! They don’t call M Robinson the queen of angst for nothing! From the very start she took my heart and crush it! I knew I was in for but didn’t care because I knew she wouldn’t disappoint.
This story is full of so much feelings. Unconditional love, hurt and pain. I felt every moment to my core! I felt like I was right there experiencing whatever they were feeling. It has a mixture of good and bad moments. There were fun times funny moments. Like I said full of good and bad emotions.
The love these two shared is like no other! From such a young age they both learned what pain and loss was. Once they met they become what each other needs and all they got. their love is what keeps them going.
“I can’t tell you how many times just thinking about this moment got me through my darkest hours, Bailey. Seeing your face, your smile, your goddamn beauty. You’re the light in my life. The love in it as well. You’re the reason I’m still breathing, I’m hopeless for you now.”
I loved them! I hate what they both endured in life but I can’t help and feel for them both. This story left me asking so many questions. It’s an intriguing story that I can’t wait to get my answers! Totally a page turner book you won’t put down! But it will leave you all out of wacks!
I did not expect this story to play out how it did! I knew to expect a roller coaster of feelings, but this was such a touching loving story! It was lighter than what I’m used to from Robinson but this just proves no matter what type she writes she can truly make great books to read. I truly loved everything about this story and can’t wait for Book 2 to see how it all unfolds!
I seriously have no words, this book was that damn good! I’ve been in a complete daze, thinking back on every word that was written in this book! I wasn’t prepared for this at all. All throughout the book, my heart pounded harder and harder as my anxiety built up. I knew it would end in a cliffhanger, but holy hell May can’t get here soon enough! Angsty, heart wrenching, hands down one of my favorites for 2019!
WOW this book absolutely gutted me. I cannot believe I have only just recently discovered this author. M. Robinson writes with so much beauty and passion. Her writing is angsty and emotional and gives me all the feels. Aiden and Bailey met at the very young age. Their connection was so special right from the beginning. Aiden is an incredible man. Selfless, protective, just beautiful inside and out. The story is narrated in past and present and throughout the entire book I was addicted to the story, the beautiful parts, the painful parts and everything in between. I do not want to say anymore about the plot as you just have to read for yourself but you don’t want to miss out on this beautiful story. This is a duet so there is a cliffhanger and I will be reading it immediately. I need to know what is next, I have so many questions. I am not sure if my heart is ready but either way I’m diving right in.
Choosing Us was sooo good!!!! I thought it was amazing. I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t stop until I was finished. I had to keep going in order to find out what was gonna happen. There was twists and turns and was unpredictable. The story leaves you with a cliffhanger, so you have to read book 2!
In this book we have Camila Jimenez. Camila was hired by Skyler to be Dr. Pierce’s nanny for his 3 kids. Camila raised all of her brothers and sisters. She doesn’t have a degree in education. But, she is going to nursing school.
Dr. Aiden Pierce is never home, always working 12 / 14 hr or more shifts every day. He is never around the kids, just Skyler and Camila. He’s lost. He’s lost touch with his kids. Aiden grew up in the foster care system with Bailey. They were best friends and always together. Aiden and Bailey loved each other and vowed never to part.
Aiden’s kids, Jackson, Jagger, and Journey form a bond with Camila. Even though Camila is only a nanny – as Dr. Pierce would say……they connected, they bonded. Camila and Jackson, the oldest boy, have a hate hate relationship at first. However, Jackson, finally opens his heart, and his head. Not all people are going to leave you, as he truly believes. Sometimes people are put in your path for a reason.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
M. Robinson is always keeping me on my toes- her storylines are unexpected, the pathways to love always arduous and emotional- but even knowing this, I was unprepared for this duet. It is unexpected, it is angsty and hard in places, but it is fascinating and fresh- a story unlike any I’ve read before.
In the first book, Choosing You, I at first spent a lot of time just trying to get my bearings- trying to understand and wrap my mind and heart around the story that Monica wanted to tell- because what I anticipated from the poetic blurb, the book I thought I was getting myself into was not that at all. I was immediately hit with two complex timelines- two parallel love stories, one in the past, one in the present, bumbling around in the dark just trying to connect the dots- how did we get from point A to point Z?
The key is to go into this story with an open mind and open heart- trust Monica- the pay off will be worth the ache of the journey. Once you let go of your expectations, then you can just experience this riveting journey. It is angsty, our hero is a big fat jerk, but you know it’s because he’s hurting, we just don’t fully understand. And, we have two women- a wife, Bailey, and a nanny, Camila- both in different timelines, absent from each other’s narratives but connected to Aiden- what is the connection?
The first book is going to feel less romantically fulfilling- that’s why this is a duet. There is not a HEA here, there is a cliffhanger, and I had more questions than answers. And, I was still struggling with Aiden, and struggling to understand just who or what I was even rooting for. That’s the point- that’s what Monica is pushing on, the web she’s weaving- the path to love is messy, and so our narrative gives us that experience. She wants us to question- to grapple, to experience it ourselves.
This is a complicated and emotional first half of a duet- so much angst, so many questions. And that ending- my goodness, rip my heart out. Thank goodness M. Robinson has put BOTH books into one so you aren’t suffering in suspense for too long!
An emotional read and a masterpiece of writing! Couldn’t get enough!!!!
Excellent
Need to read the next book. The order of events were misleading.
