I enjoyed reading this book! This is a new to me author and I really look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. 4 1/2 stars!
I really enjoyed the premise that the men had to do all they could to ensure women’s happiness, and help keep their species going. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. Definitely worth reading.
Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline is the first book in the authors Clecanian series. Ms. Aveline is a new author to me and I have to say this is a very good book. There’s the the usual kidnapping aliens taking women from Earth and dropping them off on another planet that needs women, but Theo stole my heart when he says “No one ever choses him”. Well guess what Theo Jade thinks your handsome scars or not and you never know either or of you may fall in love.
Jade loves her job plus working from home is nice so when two beady eyed creatures steal her away from Earth feed her green go (I did love this part as it reminds me of Kale) then drops her off on Clecanian. Little does she know she’ll have to chose a mate then stay married 3 months. Somehow when she meets Theo sparks fly will she stay here and see if they can make a life together? Besides he has a dog Cebo and who doesn’t love a guy with a dog?
Theo is a mercenary so immediately suspects Jade of being a spy but when she doesn’t seem know why he keeps asking questions that she has no answers for. So he devises tests that all couples must do but will it backfire on both of them? When Jade is taken from him will Theo find her in time before it’s too late?

I think I might have found my new favorite series! This book was an amazing adventure! I love how the author brought us to this brand new world full of intense alpha males and the lovely ladies who are the focus of their lives. I really enjoyed Theo, his injured soul really drew me to him and his struggle with accepting that Jade might actually choose him. The author managed to keep me enthralled with the love story and the intrigue that brought Jade to this new world. I throughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.
If you like the formula of abduction leads to finding your wounded fated mate, this is a decent example of the type. Nice enough characters, tormented hero with a ton of baggage has a hard time accepting that someone likes him for himself, stubborn woman won’t see that she’s better off where she is and should give up fighting to go home… you get the picture? I liked it enough to read the next in the series.
I liked the strong characters and how their relationship grew as the story unfolded. Some of their ideas about society and mating practices were not what I would prefer, but this was an alien society. I would expect to find alien practices, culture and customs. The character development in this story kept me turning the pages.
