I absolutely loved this book. Chelsea and Ollie had me from the beginning. Once I pick this up I could not put it down.
Sweet, romantic, family, and dogs – what more could you ask for?
There is so much to this story! I loved every minute of it. My emotions are all over the place. Chels and Nick, with Lily. Oh my! Be still my heart!
Ollie the miracle worker and Lily the matchmaker
Chelsea loved the horses, loved the stables where she and her golden retriever, Ollie worked. Ever since she was a little girl she went there to see them to ease her broken heart after losing her mother. It soothed her and lifted her spirits. She wanted that for Lily too. She did her best to fight for keeping the stables open for all those other children needing comfort as she once did and still does. I fell in love with the precocious and sweet seven year old Lily. And Ollie became my favorite therapy dog who, without any training in recognizing the beginning of a seizure, helped to save that sweet, precocious child. With Lily’s matchmaking skills, her father and Chelsea developed feelings for one another as well and went on to save the the stables for the benefit of other children with special needs. It is a happy heartfelt story I’m sure anyone would enjoy.
Choosing Chelsea by Christina Butrum is a great addition to the The Gold Coast Retrievers series. I found this book to be a great standalone listen. This is a sweet and clean listen that has multiple angles. There is a second chance love story, a therapy dog Ollie, Chelsea and her own issues, and some horses and hardships. I loved how things came together at the end. Katie Grace was wonderful bringing the characters to life with her voice. I could hear who was speaking. She added the right emotions as well. I was given this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I love this series and highly recommend it.
I am a sucker for single dad romances and this one was sweet. Nick is the perfect man for Chelsea even though she fights it. Actually, it’s exactly what they each need with the added benefit that Lily started it all. It’s a sweet story with just the right amount of angst to keep you glued until you finish the book.
I love the Gold Coast Retrievers series and CHOOSING CHELSEA is another 5-star edition. It is the story of Nick, a single dad trying to be a dad and mom to Lily, his 7 year old daughter. When Chelsea, an employee at The Stables, gives a speech at a community meeting about the possible sale of The Stables due to lack of funding, Lily insists that she and her dad meet “the horse lady”. The outcome of their meeting is signing Lily up for riding lessons. There are many challenges facing The Stables and Nick finds himself wanting to keep both Lily and Chelsea happy. A medical crisis involving Lily and Chelsea’s therapy dog Ollie brings about numerous life changes and breathes new life into the possibilities for expanding the role of The Stables in the community.
Christina Butrum writes a cohesive plot with interesting characters. She expands on her characters giving them depth, allowing the reader to feel as though reading about personal friends.
Christina Butrum writes a story that tugs the heart. Chelsea is passionate about the stables and Ollie. The stables had been a constant in her life since she was a child. The thought of losing it is unacceptable. Nick’s passion is his daughter and being the best dad possible. This is a wonderful story of how their lives come together and meld. Great characters and plot. I totally enjoyed this book.
This book is so full of emotions. It has drama, suspense, heartbreak and love. Most of all it has a darling little girl named Lily that you will fall in love with. This story will touch your heart the way Lily and Ollie bond. If you like heartwarming stories that have horses, a dog and a darling little girl in them, you will love this book. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
