First in the New York Times-bestselling mystery series: “A cleverly plotted cozy full of appealing characters and delicious cookie recipes.”—Publishers Weekly Take one amateur sleuth. Mix in some eccentric Minnesota locals. Add a generous dollop of crackling suspense, and you’ve got the recipe for this mystery series featuring Hannah Swensen, the red-haired, cookie-baking heroine whose … cookie-baking heroine whose gingersnaps are almost as tart as her comments and whose penchant for solving crime is definitely stirring things up.
While dodging her mother’s attempts to marry her off, Hannah runs The Cookie Jar, Lake Eden’s most popular bakery. But after Ron LaSalle, the beloved deliveryman from the Cozy Cow Dairy, is found murdered behind her bakery—with Hannah’s famous Chocolate Chip Crunchies scattered around him—she’s determined not to let her cookies get a bad reputation, so she sets out to track down a killer. But if she doesn’t watch her back, Hannah’s sweet life may get burned to a crisp.
“Culinary cozies don’t get any tastier than this winning series.”—Library Journal

How do I begin? I want to start by saying: Wow!!! I finished this book within 24 hours! I had to find out what was going to happen next and I had to discover who the murderer was!!! Someone on this website recommended this series to me, so I decided to give it a try and I am glad that I did!! I love it! I got all comfy cozy on the couch and …
This is the first in a great series, about a cookie shop and the owner who keeps falling into murder investigations. The characters are fun, good stories. And what makes it even more fun, cookie recipes
I loved this book and can’t wait to read more in the series! The plot was suspenseful and fun without being too over-the-top. The main character’s goal was to help solve the murder and the story follows finding clues and eliminating suspects in a very forward, engaging manner. This is a great model of what a mystery should be about! I do have one …
Continuing set of characters that are entertaining and interesting. A great way to see life through the eyes of people living in a small midwestern town.
It isn’t heavy reading but her books ar entertaining and fun to read.
Fun to read and love the recipes
Her series of books are a constant delight. Author writes intelligently and is extremely witty. Plots are all different and unpredictable. Great late night reading.
I love this author. I read all her books.
Adorable read! I love the situations Joanne comes up with.
Do you ever find yourself needing a quick read in between longer books? I enjoy filling those gaps with light murder mysteries such as the series by Joanna Fluke. The main character is a baker by trade and an amateur sleuth when the need arises. She bakes when she is trying to figure out where the clues are leading, and she shares her recipes …
I honestly never thought I would start this series since there’s soo many. Then I watched all the Hallmark movies based on this series and HAD to read the first. The movie followed pretty good. I did enjoy the book and OF COURSE the ending has me wanting to read the next. Oh, what have I got myself into.
A cozy mystery. If you like this type of book than it is a good read.
I love culinary mysteries!
This was a good story with solid characters. The protagonist, Hannah, is a likable lady with a good head on her shoulders. I like the dynamics with her and the other characters. You know right off the hop that she is a no-nonsense kind of girl though. She gets wrapped up in something that I often wondered why she was …
Joanne Fluck is one of my favorite writers. I enjoy reading about a strong woman. She still enjoys the company of a man but shows she is fine without him. Also the recipes she includes are down-to-earth and easy to make.
Love this author’s books
All the Hannah Swensen mysteries are just as delightful as the cookies she sells.
I’m just so disappointed in this book. I love cozy mysteries, and I’ve been hearing about the Hannah Swenson series for years (and how amazing the included recipes are) and was excited about the possibility of finding a new series I love with so many books ahead of me! Unfortunately, I did not love this one. I may pick up another in the future …
I love JoAnne Fluke books. I don’t like that the recipes are put into the story and stop the action, but who am I to mess with success?
Loved this book.
I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series (until a couple of years ago). Hannah, her family and friends are all great characters. Read your way through fall & winter with this series but stop when they start talking about Hannah marrying her high school boyfriend, whoever took-over the writing just ruined the last few books.
