First in the New York Times-bestselling mystery series: “A cleverly plotted cozy full of appealing characters and delicious cookie recipes.”—Publishers Weekly Take one amateur sleuth. Mix in some eccentric Minnesota locals. Add a generous dollop of crackling suspense, and you’ve got the recipe for this mystery series featuring Hannah Swensen, the red-haired, cookie-baking heroine whose … cookie-baking heroine whose gingersnaps are almost as tart as her comments and whose penchant for solving crime is definitely stirring things up.
While dodging her mother’s attempts to marry her off, Hannah runs The Cookie Jar, Lake Eden’s most popular bakery. But after Ron LaSalle, the beloved deliveryman from the Cozy Cow Dairy, is found murdered behind her bakery—with Hannah’s famous Chocolate Chip Crunchies scattered around him—she’s determined not to let her cookies get a bad reputation, so she sets out to track down a killer. But if she doesn’t watch her back, Hannah’s sweet life may get burned to a crisp.
“Culinary cozies don’t get any tastier than this winning series.”—Library Journal

Like these cooking mysteries. Comforting easy read with a couple of good recipes to try. Fun
Very easy to read, wonderful recipes, characters are delightful. Once you get started you will want to read other Joanne Fluke Swenson books. A real page turner if you are into mysteries and realistic characters!
I enjoyed this book as the first in a series, and got hooked. Big mistake. Each subsequent book was a little more frustrating/unlikely/ irritating until all logic went out the window and the plots took an abrupt about face, I’ve ended up totally disgusted with the protagonist and all her kin. I liked the writing – but I think the author needs to …
These books are easy to read and the recipes are great. It’s set in a small town with the same characters. It’s like a mini vacation with great recipes. Always enjoyable with a little little mystery thrown in. You can always look forward to the next book.
I have read and enjoyed the whole series. Excellent teasers about a woman’s uncanny ability to discover dead people in the strangest places. She also has excellent, although unwanted, sleuthing abilities. There are recipes included as the leading lady operates a bakery/cookie shop.
Awesome author!! Great story lines. Amazing recipes to make included too!
Love the series
The first in the series kept me busy and wanting more. Good foundational character writing w/o overloading in the first chapter.
