London, 1813Jack, Marquess of Ettington, is at his wits’ end dealing with his twin sister’s distress. Under her name, he’s summoned Constance Grange, his vexing former ward, to London to act as his sister’s companion for the season. Although Pixie’s debt-ridden state comes as a complete surprise, what disturbs him more is his sister’s plan to find her a wealthy husband to pay off her overwhelming … overwhelming debts. And—despite his availability, wealth and title—he’s shocked to be overlooked for the position of Pixie’s husband.
With a nickname like Pixie, Constance Grange should be used to disasters, but debt collectors pounding on the Marquess of Ettington’s door demanding payment is beyond mortifying. Given the precarious state of her finances and the previously unknown loss of her family estate, her choices are either incarceration in debtors’ prison or turning fortune hunter to secure a wealthy husband. Yet the man who comes to her rescue more times than she cares to think about is unavailable, betrothed, and her former guardian Jack—the cold-hearted marquess.

Enjoyable reading. Lively.
I couldn’t stop reading this one. I’m now reading book 2 Broken.
There are so many Regency authors publishing that it is difficult to discern which authors deserve a closer look.
Chills, the first book in the Distinguished Rogues series is free on Amazon and is where I found it. The story is filled with humour and tension. Pixie is n London to find a husband and Lord Ettington, her former Guardian is upset that he doesn’t feature in her search. Pixie has a way of ending up in the most improper situations and he has his hands full to try and protect her reputation. It is a good read and really something that stands out amongst Regency Romances.
Having said this, one is naturally apprehensive to read more novels in the series as sometimes it happens that the same recipe is used and only the names and small details changed. Heather Boyd, however, finds a way of surprising with each following book, each novel has an original storyline with characters that in no way represent the previous heroines. Every book is a fresh read and brings enjoyment to the reader.
A very enjoyable book.
Chills is the first installment in the Distinguished Rogues series. It is a Regency Romance with a best friends brother trope. The story is a interesting one but I don’t understand the reference of the title and sometimes the characters didn’t match up with their description. In this book you really get 2 stories, one just as interesting as the other. I look forward to reading the other books in this series…
Jack, Marquess of Ettington, is extremely worried about his twin sisters mental health. He uses her name and writes his former ward, Constance Grange and asks her to come to London to be her companion for a season. Upon Pixie’s arrival the debt collectors start showing up and it’s a surprise to her and the Ettington family. Pixie and Virginia come up with a plan for her to marry for money to keep her out of debtors prison, so a list of names is written and Jack is irritated by the plan but even more angry that his name does not appear on the list.
Constance Grange was given the nickname Pixie by Jack when she was just a child. She is humiliated by the debt collectors bullying her about her mama’s gambling debts. Pixie’s choices are limited when she finds out that her family estate cannot be sold. To keep from going to prison she becomes a fortune hunter to find a wealthy husband and one that will stand up to her mother. She rules Jack out because of his cold hearted arrogance and his betrothal to an unknown woman. Yet he keeps coming to her rescue each and every time something happens and with each incident she realizes he doesn’t have a cold heart after all…
Who doesn’t love a raunchy Regency.
There is a lot of sexy fun time in this book. I like that she doesn’t pretend that Pixie is anything other than a feather-brained proper miss. Pixie is very much a product of the period. So, are Bernard and Jack. I like that Virginia’s story is a little different. I would have preferred to separate the two stories instead of having two couple in one book. Cause some interesting things happen that we are told about rather than shown.
I really enjoyed this book. One off the best i have read
It was too steamy, too graphic for my taste. I enjoyed the story, but the romance was more explicit on the page than what I want to read.
Loved it!
Loved these characters. Glad that Constance got her happy ever after. Felt so sorry for Virginia and what she went through. Women in those days were always used horribly by their husband’s. Thank you for a great read.
I felt too much time was spent on Jack & Pixie trying to figure out if they liked/loved each other.
I read this story back in 2017 so I do not remember a lot about all the characters except the nickname of Pixie. It’s has a lot of twists and turns.
I enjoyed this book. It was a page-turner. I read it in one sitting and stayed up all night to finish it.
Absolutely worth reading. Well written.
The scandal. The drama. The severe lack of verbal communication leading to chaos. Everything you need in a good romance novel!! The fact that everyone in this novel is trying their best to ship their OTP is hysterical! Jack and Virginia are twins. Virginia is still recovering from the devastation of her psycho dead husband. Jack is in love with Virginia’s best friend Pixie (Constance) and has been since he assumed guardianship of her when her father died. Eight years older, Jack is worried that Pixie will want someone younger. Pixie’s father told her that Jack is secretly betrothed, so she doesn’t think he is an option. Jack’s best friend Lord Hallam has always loved Virginia, but they had a big fight when she married someone else. But thanks to Parks, the super cool butler, Lord Daventry, the town’s most notorious rake with a strict code against virgins/married women, and Miss, Scalding, the crazy debutante that keeps thrusting Pixie into embarrassing situations forcing Jack to save her, Pixie/Jack and Virginia/Hallam are bound to work it out! Now I’m going to start book 2 because Lord Daventry desperately deserves a turn in the spotlight!
It was a bit more sexually detailed than I usually read but I did enjoy the story.
Love, love the Earl of Daventry!
Good plot – unusual with great characters!
loved it
This Book was hard to put down.
