I, Ethan Antonio Giovanni Callahan, first son of the former head of the Irish mob, Liam Alec Callahan, and former head of the Italian mafia, ex-governor, Melody Nicci Giovanni Callahan, solemnly swear to ruthlessly protect our family name, business and way of life, no matter the cost to me or anyone else. I shall show no mercy; I shall offer no forgiveness; there will be no peace for those who … stand against me.
I will live for my family.
I will kill for my family.
I will marry for my family.
I, Ivy O’Davoren, the only daughter of Shay O’Davoren, solemnly swear to ruthlessly and mercilessly exact revenge on the Callahans and all those who betrayed my father and family.
I will live for revenge.
I will kill for revenge.
I will marry for revenge.

This book BLEW MY MIND. I went back and forth on if I would really need to read the other series first but decided I would see for myself and it was a complete standalone series. I am absolutely HOOKED. This book. I just have no words but so many at the same time. I started listening to the audio early in the morning and listened ALL day long. And just finished. 10 hours and 30 minutes later. I couldnt stop it was unbelievable.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED Ivy. Yes Ethan was a specimen all his own world and I will get to him in a second but I need to talk about Miss Ivy. Normally in books, especially really good books myself as well as many others go on and on about the hero this and the hero that…but we dont talk about how KICK ASS the heroine is. Well let me tell you now. Ivy was not only brave, funny, charismatic, and the epitome of what I look for in every heroine but she was so perfect for Ethan it cannot be described.
And Ethan. Wow. Wowzaaaa. I just had a little skip in my heart thinking of him. He was MAGNETIC. He was charming. He was FUNNY. I laughed out loud when they were making sandwiches to sneak into “the show”… because I thought they were going to an actual movie. But it wasnt. I am laughing right now as I type this. When he hushed the person next to him during “the show”. That was the best part in the whole book. Their chemistry. Gahhhh. I loved finding out new things with them. This was one of my favorite books this year and I am giddy to read Wyatts story. I loved him throughout the whole book but SO much at the end. Speaking of the end. That cliffhanger.
I am so happy that I got a late start. Because now I get to read ALL of these books. And get to fall in love with every single couple. I am so excited. This author is a master at her craft. 5 stars is not enough for this. I am going to be thinking about this book for a very long time.
What the eff you see kay just happened?!? No really. I’m between my jaw hanging open and can’t even right now. Can’t even!
That ending. Gah!
Holy shit this story is ah-mazing!! How are these books not made into movies yet? I felt like I just watched one and I couldn’t look away! Oh my god seriously, what a flippin’ fantastic story. I loved every second of it.
I love me some mafia books and this whole series to me is hands down one of the best I have ever read. The whole Callahan clan is 2 kinds of crazy! They definitely keep everyone on their toes. This story is like one big game of chess. There’s all these moving pieces and you need a strong strategy plan to win. When’s the next one coming out? I’m freaking out over that ending. The Callahan kids are killing me!

I am a huge fan of Mafia Romances, and JJ McAvoy’s Ruthless People series is one of my all time favorites. So the moment she announced that the children of the main couple would get their own story, I got so excited. I was counting down the days until I could get my hands on Children of Vice. I had very high expectations and the author didn’t disappoint. What I loved most was that the she stayed true to the characters, and that they didn’t become a watered down version of themselves. If you have read the Ruthless People series you know that there are some very crazy twists, she continued giving us many more in this book. This makes the story and the actions of the characters very unpredictable, which I loved. I also loved that the author gives us a totally new story with an original plot.
She did an amazing job in fitting everything in one book and making it flow so seamlessly. It was definitely a page turner, I just couldn’t get enough of the characters. Ethan found his match with Ivy, their unconventional romance was really thought out. And the more I learned about them the more I loved them. Family plays an important role in this book as well, and I appreciated seeing what the other characters were up to. This book is also about revenge, it was dished out so perfectly. I have no idea how the hell the author comes up with these things. This book has left me wanting MORE (in a good way). I NEED the next book in the series Children of Ambition, I am actually dying to get my hands on it. The ending of this book left me speechless, I should’ve known that JJ McAvoy would throw another twist at us.
It’s easy to love this book! Any book written by this author will have you turning the page until the very end! It’s hard to put these books down and when it’s over I definitely wished the story would not have ended so soon! Big fan of her work! Can’t wait for the rest of the series:)
