Falling in love was the easy part.
Being secretly in love with my brother’s best friend is where it got tricky.
Levi Dent was off-limits. Which was probably for the best, since he barely knew I existed.
Until one night I saw an opportunity I couldn’t resist.
The problem was, I got caught.
She tricked me.
I knew there was something so familiar about her, but I just couldn’t resist.
Hannah … so familiar about her, but I just couldn’t resist.
Hannah Matthews was nothing more than my best friend’s little sister. Except she wasn’t so little anymore.
I need to forget all about her.
If only it were that easy…

I fell hard and fast for Levi and Hannah’s story. Yes, It was cute and sweet, but it was fiery and smokin hot. They had off the charts chemistry, a forbidden love vibe to it, and definitely some angst and suspense.
Hannah has always had a thing for Levi. Her brothers hot best friend. I loved how Hannah utilized her opportunity to take the bull by the horns so to speak and get the guy she’s dreamed about since she was a teenager. I’m not sure she expected it to backfire the way it did, nor did she expect to have to interact with Levi like she did afterwards. But Hannah was beautiful and a total sweetheart. She wasn’t going to let an uncomfortable situation deter her dreams and plans. She was feisty and fearless at times, and at times she still carries emotional baggage from her teen years. I had the biggest girl crush on her character. She made me laugh, she made me smile, my heart also broke right along with hers.
Levi Dent is a good guy. But good guys don’t sleep with their best friends’ sisters. He’s mad that Hannah duped him and he’s certainly not happy about the newest predicament they find themselves in. But he is most unhappy about the fact that he can’t get their encounter out of his head.
I loved Levi’s banter with Hannah. It was witty and funny. He was hot and sexy, but he was sweet and caring also. Out of all the guys in her brother’s group of friends, he was the most genuine and didn’t treat her like the others did, even if he didn’t alway jump in and stop it. I love his self reflection, looking back at how she was treated by the other people in their group of friends. But his eyes are opening now and they see only her, and it’s beautiful and precious. GAH! They are so adorably yummy together!

My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
– This book has it all. It was charming and witty. It was sexy and funny. It had twist and suspenseful turns I didn’t see coming. It had that forbidden brother’s best friend aspect, but was also like enemies to lovers, because there was some definite anger and tension between them after their first throw down. It was fun and engaging and I devoured it super fast. I did not want to put this book down!
-Holy Hades Hannah and Levi!! Yummy for her secret trickery that ends in a hookup! Licious smexy times!!
Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! Amazing HEA
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book is funny. I laughed I don’t know how many times while reading this book. This book is a standalone and a brother’s best friend romantic comedy. Hannah and Levi have know each other forever and they have a age difference between them so he has watched her grow up and turn into the young lady she is now. Levi is a really sweet guy and I can so see why Hannah had a thing for him. These two also have a chemistry that is really hot. However she is not only his best friend’s little sister but his bosses daughter. Now Levi will find himself in the position of being Hannah’s mentor. However they are unable to ignore the attraction between them. Where will this lead and what will happen? Dive on in and find out. You will not be disappointed.
J.D. Hollyfield is a queen amongst funny women and this book won’t disappoint.
This book starts off with a bang (no pun intended) and just keeps going. There was humor, some very steamy sexy time, some great family relationship dynamics and then some awesome villainy and suspense. So well done!
Highty enjoyable read, all the way through. Highly recommend!
This book was a pleasant surprise for me. I was expecting a normal rom-com and then the author add some suspense, action and angst. I wasn’t expecting at all some things that happened and for that I can only congratulate the author.
Hannah has a big crush at his brother’s childhood best friend Levi, since she can remember. At her brother’s wedding she got an opportunity and tricky him into get together. 3 weeks later, finishing her school, she starts to work for her father’s law firm and who is her mentor? Yes, Levi.
Levi doesn’t have a real, caring family. But his best friend family always embraced him to theirs. He had the most respect and love for all of them. But things change when Hannah tricks him and they start working together, and realize he actually has feelings for her.
Their banter was funny and their chemistry was obvious (and steamy!). They tried to dismiss their feelings, but after some little jealous games she with Braydon and him with Rebecca, as the story evolves they decide to give a try in their feelings, but keep it as secret from her family.
While they work together in a important case, things start to get weird and shade. I couldn’t stop but trying to create theories about it and then the twist happened! I was not expecting that. At all! It was some kind of dark and full of suspense. I was so glad about how the fallout of this was portrait. The author didn’t left anything behind, I was emotional, hurt, with my feelings all over the place.
For all the good things, I just wished I could have read Hannah’s father apology to Levi and also that someone had said something to Rebecca before, she was a snake and all of them kept quiet. But I was happy with the ending and it was truly deserved for Hannah and Levi. They made a wonderful couple. I wouldn’t complain to read a epilogue with an update of their lives some years later.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is my first J.D. Hollyfield book and it had me wanting to go and read any other releases that she put out. I was sucked in at the very beginning and couldn’t put the book down until I was done.
Levi and Hannah are everything. This brother’s best friend, office romantic comedy literally had me laughing out loud, crying, gripping the edge of my seat, and just involved the entire time. I found myself wanting to throw my kindle in anger, squealing out with joy, and just wanting so much more when it was all said and done.
There were times where I felt a little thrown off by the storyline, but it didn’t take away from the book at all. It was just one of those things where I was like… woah, what just happened? And I had to go back and read a section a time or two.
All in all, I loved it and it was definitely something that lifted my mood, which is definitely something you want during this crazy time in our lives.
Four stars for this fun romantic comedy that has a little suspense and a whole lot of steam.
I’m a huge JD fan for her hilarious quips that get entwined throughout her stories and the steamy romance scenes that make me blush. But now adding in suspense…This book hit the trifecta with me! I devoured this book in one sitting.
I felt like I waited forever for this book to be done and released. If you’re wondering why it may sound familiar it’s probably because it started out as a novella where we just got a quick glimpse of what this book would become in an anthology. When I read that very brief snippet, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the full story. I was not even a little bit disappointed with how long I had to wait to get my hands on Levi and Hannah! Holy Hannah (pardon the pun) this book was EVERYTHING and more. In true J.D. fashion she made me laugh out loud until I cried at one point, the humor, especially between Hannah and Chase, is second to none. Then she broke my heart and made it hurt oh so bad but as always it’s mended by the end and leaves you with all the warm fuzzies. Do I hope that there is more to come with these characters, oh no doubt about it, I don’t want this to be the end, I need more Chase, more Kipley and Stacey and more Ben…not to mention more Levi and Hannah!!! If you’ve never read a book by this author, make this your first one because you will love it and not be disappointed. If you’re a die hard fan, again, you won’t be disappointed because this book is J.D. at her finest…the writing is simply spectacular!!!!!
This book was not what I was expecting, it was better! I loved this story from the very start. It’s funny, unpredictable, suspenseful and swoon worthy and I couldn’t get enough of it. Hannah has been in love with Levi since she was 7 years old, but he never knew she existed. Hannah was always the little annoying sister that followed her big brother and friends around that no one took seriously. But when her older brother gets married and she sees Levi again things turn to an eventful day. Levi got out of a bad relationship and wasn’t looking to move on to a new one and he definitely wasn’t expecting Hannah. The banter between Hannah and Levi is hilarious. The flirting, the tension the steaminess, I was here for all of it. I loved that Hannah grows into herself throughout the book and I wish some characters were slapped a few times. This is one book I am going to read again and again!
LOVED!! I am a huge fan of JD Hollyfield! Levi and Hannah’s story did not start off as a fairy tale, but I loved their HEA! the chemistry was off the charts and I adored all the secondary characters (except that one mean girl). There were times I laughed out loud and there were times I wanted to throw my kindle across the room – but I loved every second of it! FIVE STARS!!
I’m no stranger to a JD hollyfield romance. I just love her witty banter between characters. The inside jokes were just hilarious. I caught myself laughing out loud more than one! I felt like I was friends with these guys. I felt and associated with Hannah so much! It was like I was her!
And that ending, wait, wait, what? GENIUS. It was so unexpected and I had no idea it was coming. This was a great story, and I really enjoyed reading!
What a fantastic new standalone story from Ms. Hollyfield!
This is a story of family, friendships and love that spans the test of time.
Levi and Hannah. They have known each other almost all their lives.
Hannah is Levi’s best friend’s little sister. She has always felt like the odd man out. The loner, she just wanted to be “seen” by Levi. She has crushed on him practically her whole life. She has a backbone of steel, surrounded by a soft heart and old soul.
Levi is absolutely an alpha hero. Throughout the story you see that he has always had feelings for Hannah, but didn’t really realize it until much later. He beats himself up for how he has treated her in the past (or just stood by and watched) and he is making amends.
I love that this story didn’t shirk on the details, you get the fully formed tale. Ms. Hollyfield doesn’t hold back or gloss over the hard parts, but fully embraces them.
As always, you get plenty of heat, heart and laughs. A bit of mystery and some thrills. All the best parts of a perfect romance!
I’ve always like this kind of trope and this is my first time reading this author, but It won’t be my last! I really liked how the story flowed, the sexiness of it and the way they tried to fight it, but couldn’t anymore! great story.
I loved Levi and how he was an all in kind of guy. He wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted although he did remind us all a million times that Hannah was his best friend’s little sister. We get it but people grow up. Hannah was sweet and sometimes fierce. The insecurities she carried from growing up reared their ugly head so many times as she fought for whatever was going on with her and Levi. Bullies suck at any age and there were some real assholes in this book. I did love the chemistry and banter between Levi and Hannah and found myself laughing out loud so many times. There were also some crazy twists in the second half that had me wondering what the hell was going on. I felt a bit confused and thrown off. It felt like several books were merged into one and that was a little hard for me to get through. I guess I just wanted Levi and Hannah back with their sweet love story. Overall, I really did enjoy this book and was rooting for these two to put themselves first and take a chance at the love they both wanted and deserved.
Hannah has always had a huge crush on her brothers best friend Levi, but she was off limits, until things change. This is a well written story which is filled with emotion, heartbreak, twists, sizzling chemistry, with banter, and is an all-consuming humorous story, which had me hooked throughout. I cannot wait to read more from this author whose work I highly recommend for all.
4 Stars
JD Hollyfield definitely brings a different twist on the whole best friend’s little sister trope and I loved it. Chicks, Man has a little bit of everything in it. It’s definitely got Hollyfield’s great sense of humor with her laugh out loud moments, but the suspense twist left me on the edge of my seat. Levi and Hannah have tons of chemistry and I loved every page. I hope there’s more from this group of friends to come.

Chicks, Man by J.D. Hollyfield was not only a cute book, it left me with a smile too! A romantic comedy and brother’s best friend romance, it was right up my alley. The story had me laughing out loud throughout and yet packed so many feels as well. I didn’t expect the story to be so emotional from the cover and blurb, but felt like it made the story more substantial and I enjoy a good feels-fest. I did feel as if the pace of the story began to drag a bit towards the end, but I enjoyed nonetheless.
Cute, funny, flirty, and packed with feels, Chicks, Man by J.D. Holly is a a great combination of laughs and love. 4 stars.
I loved this book clear down to my soul.
I felt a deep connection to Hannah. Her insecurities were like they were taken straight out of my own head. It’s things I think a lot of people can relate to which makes Hannah feel more real to me than just a character on my kindle.
The chemistry between Hannah and Levi was there from the beginning even with the bit of a rocky start they had. The banter between the 2 of them was well written, witty and entertaining. Levi was swoony with a bit of possessive alpha about him that I loved.
Hannah grew so much throughout the pages, she decided she was done with people not treating her how she deserved and began sticking up for herself which I loved. Top Read of 2020
I’m hoping there will be another standalone about one of the other members of this group because I don’t want this to be the last visit I have with these characters.
The other elements going on in the story are fabulously written, full of a lot of details that grab not only your attention but also tug at your heartstrings, I needed answers as much as I needed Hannah and Levi to get their happily ever after.
5 stars plus
Wow wow wow!!!
The author is new to me and I have to start by saying this book was absolutely riveting! I definitely want to read so much more of her books!
This book was suspense on steroids! Im not kidding! When Hannah finally finishes her internship and is ready to start at the bottom at her Dad’s firm, she doesn’t count on seeing Levi again and so often!
But what happened at her brothers wedding has both Hannah and Levi in a state. How will they work together? Will there be struggles or do feelings come into play?
This book just had so much that kept my attention! Love, family, emotions, friendships, scary moments as well! It was like watching a movie playing out in front of me! I was so invested in the characters that I was literally on the edge of my seat!
My heart! I just couldnt stop reading until I had some of sort closure or happy outcome!
This story was incredibly heart stopping! It had love in spades and just the most wonderful characters that you couldn’t help but want to wrap them up in a big hug! The turmoil, the strength of courage and the beautiful caring moments made this such an amazing story that you just have to read! Id definitely give it more than 5 stars if I could!
Hands down the best romantic suspense of the year!
Chicks, Man is a best friends sibling romance from J. D. Hollyfield which is written in the first-person point of view.
Hannah was in love with her brother’s best friend since she was a little girl but was never seen as anything more than “Hannah Banana” to her brother’s friends. After tricking Levi into a tryst in the storage closet at her brother’s wedding things between them change forever. Levi attempts to fight his attraction to Hannah until it becomes too much.
This book had me thinking that this was a romantic comedy after reading the blurb and seeing the cover and I was surprised when I started reading and found out that it starts as a bit of a comedy, then turns to a contemporary romance and finishes as a romantic suspense. This is a new-to-me author and I found her sex scenes to be a little too vulgar with the wording.
