Falling in love was the easy part.
Being secretly in love with my brother’s best friend is where it got tricky.
Levi Dent was off-limits. Which was probably for the best, since he barely knew I existed.
Until one night I saw an opportunity I couldn’t resist.
The problem was, I got caught.
She tricked me.
I knew there was something so familiar about her, but I just couldn’t resist.
Hannah … so familiar about her, but I just couldn’t resist.
Hannah Matthews was nothing more than my best friend’s little sister. Except she wasn’t so little anymore.
I need to forget all about her.
If only it were that easy…

So many varying emotions are wrapped up between the covers of this book. I really enjoyed everything about this book and devoured it. Hannah and Levi have such amazing chemistry that it pulls you in and leaves you wanting more until you see the HEA waiting for you. I feel like their relationship is one that is unlikely with all the obstacles they have to overcome, but they shine bright in the end!
~~TOP 10 RECOMMENDED~~
There is something about J.D. Hollyfield that feels so right when it comes to friends to lovers. We have Hannah Matthews, who in someways feel like a connection when it comes to her insecurities. Tired of always being known as Kip’s little sister she is ready to be on her own and prove she is more than just the sister. Yet no matter how hard she tries she cannot change her teenager’s crush opinion about her. I loved that she can take charge of her decisions one minute then at the same time doubt herself. Seeing her all fluster when it comes to Levi and tongue tied was beautiful that this man can make her feel all giddy. Now Levi was one that has his own doubts but more of where he really belongs. Never being loved he feels the Matthew’s family is all he can get and it takes a strong woman like Hannah to show him he can be loved for who he really is. J.D. Hollyfield is a genius the way she can make them all friendly then bring in an obstacle Levi never saw coming but still try to remain friends. Hillarious. The connection they have is magical in a way they never knew was there until a little night of adventure takes them on a ride they never knew was possible.

Brother’s Best Friend Romance | Romantic Comedy
J.D. Hollyfield always manages to make me smile! I just adore her books to pieces and am always looking forward to the next one! This one in particular is a standalone, brother’s best friend romance with ALL THE FEELS. It also has some great comedy and I found myself chuckling throughout. That’s everything I wanted and expected in this read! More than that though this book has an emotional undertone that truly pulls at your heartstrings! I wasn’t expecting this, but I am so glad she added the emotion because it really made this one stand out!
True to the authors fashion, readers are going to be getting not only a hilarious novel, but one with seriously heartfelt moments. You aren’t going to want to miss this one!
Whoa
What a trip this book was. I went expecting and getting one then and then BOY did it take a sharp right turn!
I have read this author before and on the whole I’ve enjoyed this books I’ve read from them. But I can clearly and honestly say this is the first book I have LOVED.
I didn’t expect the suspense and mystery element (even if I did call it pretty early) but it was a welcome element for sure.
The siblings best friend trope is for sure one of my favourites and I kinda loved that Levi didn’t lie and claim to have loved Hannah as long as she had him. It makes a nice change.
Levi isn’t perfect. Neither is Hannah. But they sure are perfect for each other and I loved them together.
I truly didn’t see this book coming and it had shocked me in the best of ways.
**An ARC was provided to me so thank you to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. I volunteered to leave an honest review. All opinions are my own**
Chicks, Man is my first read by J.D. Hollyfield and while it was a really good story, there were a few things that irked me, and a few that confused the heck out of me. For one, there is a significant age difference between Hannah and Levi; nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but… some things just don’t add up. I spent a lot of the story with a frown on my face trying to figure it all out.
Levi is a great, sweet and sexy guy, it’s not hard to see how Hannah could fall for him now… or when she was a teenager in high school, but before that? Hmmm, maybe it was just me?
For all that, Hannah and Levi have a blistering chemistry, but the fact that she’s not only his best friend’s little sister, (this fact was brought up multiple times) she’s also his boss’s daughter and newly started working for her father’s company.
Levi is Hannah’s mentor and that just lets things heat up even more. They know they shouldn’t but when the attraction is this strong what can they do but give in.
This wasn’t simply a forbidden love story, there was a whole other storyline too, with some twists and turns you’ll not see coming. It’s a bit angsty, emotional and will gut you in places. There were plenty of secondary characters, some I wanted to bash over their heads with the treatment they dished out at Hannah. Or that nobody seemed to notice or care when it happened. Even Levi let it slide at first.
Thankfully, he redeemed himself in the end and came through big time for Hannah, when she truly needed him.
When Hannah takes it upon herself to sneak into her longtime crush, Levi’s pants, while it may have been the best sex of both their lives, it’s not exactly the start of a beautiful relationship because Hannah is Levi’s best friend’s little sister, the little sister who is, and always has been, off-limits. Not to mention that he’s now her mentor at her father’s law firm, where she has just taken a paralegal position. Yep!
But suddenly Levi’s seeing Hannah in a whole new light. She’s not just Kip’s plain little sister any longer. No, she’s a smart, fierce and intelligent woman whose curves are calling Levi, best friend be damned…
There’s someone out there, though, even aside from Kip, who doesn’t want them together, and it will take all of Hannah and Levi’s legal smarts to figure it out, and to stop them. Hopefully before things reach the point of no return.
Wow, this story really did not go the way I thought it would. I thought it would be kind of a fluffy piece of fun. And it is fun as the two banter back and forth while falling in love. But it also has suspense and intrigue that I had no idea would have any part in this story. But it’s a very good thing, because it gave Hannah and Levi’s story an added layer of depth, and made me like it even more. I think Hannah and Levi make a great couple. Their love story is sexy and suspenseful and has a great secondary cast. Speaking of…I hope their friend Chase gets his own story *hint hint*
Funny, engaging and sexy as hell!
At first I was thinking this was a great funny brother’s best friend romance. But there was so much more. There is laughter and fun but there is also suspense and tension to have you gripping your seat. I wasn’t expecting the twist and boy it was a doosy. There was an undercurrent of something happening between Hannah and another character. I felt there was something shifty about them but I didn’t realise how shifty.
Hannah has endured her brother’s friends for many years but one was always in her heart. Levi was the one she had a crush on but he never saw her. That is until her brother’s wedding. There is this push-pull tug of war between Levi and Hannah and the moments between them show how electric their chemistry can be. However not all is what it seems and forces around them are plotting. There were some great moments of laughter and heart racing scenes. But there was also angst, tension and drama so I think there was a bit of everything to keep you interested. Granted, I would have been okay with the story even if the suspenseful action wasn’t included. It was an enjoyable story and recommend people get into it and discover the story for themselves.
This was a cute brothers best friend, age gap romance. There was some seriously great sexy scenes, a pretty great cast of characters, although Hannah aggravated me a little. There were some real obvious things that she missed and she was supposed to be smarter than that but I suppose it could have been that she was awkward and shy, but she should have seen it all a mile away ( I don’t want to give anything away) that’s really my only gripe otherwise there is great chemistry between Levi and Hannah.
**I did receive a free advanced readers copy of this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review**
An absolute must read with great characters and a fantastic storyline that pulls you in immediately. I couldn’t put this book down.
This is the first book I have read of J.D. Hollyfield and I didn’t know what to expect. This book was wonderfully written with characters I have fallen in love with.
We meet Hannah who has had a crush on Levi for as long as she can remember. Levi is one of her brother’s best friends, and they haven’t seen each other for years as they both go to college, and Levi starts his career. They reconnect at Hannah’s brother’s wedding, and things fall apart from there. Hannah is starting at her dad’s law office as a paralegal as she gets ready for law school, and she finds out she is going to be Levi’s new employee. They soon find out being together in secret is hard along with working on a law case that goes haywire.
This book was full of wonderful happy and scary moments. I hope to dive into another Hollyfield book soon.
This was more than I expected. I knew I would laugh and would probably swoon but we also have some angst and mystery and suspense that added to the whole story between Levi and Hannah. Their chemistry is undeniable and the banter between characters was just fun. I couldn’t put this down.
Chicks, Man is more than just your average brother’s best friend romance.
Initially we are drawn into the developing chemistry between Hannah Matthews and Levi Dent. Their initial hook-up was so steamy that the pages were literally smoking! What makes this current work of J.D. Hollyfield uniquely hers is that the storyline evolves beyond the romance and introduces a level of suspense. With this added theme, she expertly provides depth and emotion to her characters, which makes the reader rooted to their storyline until the climatic end.
The love story was skillfully revealed to make the conclusion plausible. What makes J.D. Hollyfield a must read author is her ability to produce stories which engages the reader for a few hours of sheer enjoyment.
This review was for an ARC won during a giveaway.
I got way more than I bargained for with this book! This is so much more than a brother’s best friend romance…it becomes an office romance, and then hang onto your hats, because this turns into an edge of your seat suspense! Be prepared to laugh, swoon, gasp, and cry…a lot!
Hannah devises a trick to play on Levi to get something she’s dreamt about for a long time! Digging herself quite the hole, her obsession with her long time crush is out of control. But when the games continue, she finds herself on the opposite side, which definitely isn’t all bad. When Hannah finds her footing, the insecure, self-conscious girl is replaced by a strong, feisty woman! And don’t get me started on Levi…a dirty talking, sexy, irresistible, gorgeous man that I was totally swooning over!
Wanting what you can’t have ends up being the theme in this sometimes awkward, often funny, very entertaining, incredibly steamy, heart wrenchingingly angsty, crazy and suspense filled romance…phew!
Hannah has always had a major crush on her brothers best friend and when the opportunity presents itself to finally get Levi with his pants down, literally, she jumps on it only to find herself working him weeks later. This was a good book that had funny moments and enjoyable banter.
This was one of JD Hollyfield’s most balanced books yet. Honestly, looking at that cover you’re going to expect a romantic comedy, I know I did. However, it was really more suspenseful than I expected. I was really intrigued with the writing and the entire execution of the story. I was just delighted with Hannah. Shes a strong, no-nonsense character that isn’t scared to stand up for herself. Levi really didn’t want to succumb to his growing feelings and attraction. His best friend is Hannah’s brother so this really adds a layer for Levi the he isn’t loving… but he can’t seem to resist… and Hannah doesn’t want to resist.
Now there is kind of a part 1 and part 2… it’s kind of like the book veers off and goes on a separate but connected storyline. It isn’t quite expected but I didn’t mind it. I felt as though it pulled me back in and I got a fresh story with characters I was becoming fond of. But I’d go in knowing that it almost feels like 2 separate books combined… if that makes sense! I just love the way JD Hollyfield writes though! Her books are fun and charming, sweet and carefree. There’s always banter and humor. The characters were likeable. As always, JD Hollyfield gave me an enjoyable book that I read way too quickly!! If only my favorites could write as quickly as I read them!! Ha! Every book lovers dream, right?!?!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
This is the first book I have read by J.D Hollyfield and I have to say it won’t be my last, I really enjoyed this entertaining read and I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now.
Chicks, Man is a book that is full of witty banter, it will have you laughing out loud, it will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat and I’m sure like me it will have you shedding a tear here and there.
Hannah has crushed on Levi for many years and when she stats her internship at her fathers firm the last thing she expects is to find her mentor is no other than the man himself……
The chemistry is sizzling, the banter is natural and flows throughout this entertaining read, the characters are adorable and story believable so what more could you want, well this book also has a little mystery, angst and suspense just to keep you seating on the edge of your seat. Great read and I’m looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.
4 star review of Chicks, Man by J.D. Hollyfield
J.D. Hollyfield is a new author to me and I am not sure how it is that I have not come across her before. Chicks, Man is an entertaining story about Levi Dent and Hannah Matthews.
There were moments where I laughed out loud, I cried and also where I smiled like a lunatic. I loved the banter particularly between Hannah and Chase. The secondary characters of Chase, Kipley, Stacey and Ben were fun and I would love to read more about them.
Hannah has had a crush on Levi for years until one night changes their lives forever. The chemistry between them is intense. I enjoy stories that have a little mystery, angst and suspense and this book certainly has them all.
I will certainly be looking at other books from Ms. Hollyfield when time permits.
Make sure you grab this Romantic suspense today…it won’t disappoint!
