This book does not give it all away in the beginning. It leaves you in suspense trying to guess what is going to happen. Well written. I would recommend.
Set in an historic area of Pennsylvania, Baker Street Bed & Breakfast is the perfect place for Georgie to come home to. Though she loved her job as a paralegal in the city, the unexplained death of her fiancé left her heart hurting, and she needed to come home.
What she didn’t need was a murder. One of her tour group is murdered during a guided visit to an historic home. Something just doesn’t seem right though, and soon Georgie is doing a bit of investigating, while she battles demons of her own.
James has created a quaint village with engaging characters. There’s the requisite curmudgeon or two, the mysterious young woman, and a host of others to toss is red herrings as we try to decipher the clues.
Thoroughly enjoyed this first entry into this new to me series. binge reading is a real advantage of starting a series when there are already several volumes released. Highly recommend this new sleuth!
Georgie moves back home to Gainesville, Pennsylvania after a traumatic loss in order to try to heal and start over. She takes a job working with the grandmother of a childhood friend and Bed and Breakfast owner; Georgie takes guest on tours of historic downtown. When one of her guest is murder while touring what’s believes to be a haunted Manor house, Georgia is confronted with flashbacks and the fact the the murderer is more than likely one of her guest. Recommend.
1. Book 1: Cherry Pie or Die : 4 stars
I purchased a copy of the cozy mystery Cherry Pie or Die: Baker Street Mysteries; Book 1 by CeeCee James and this review was given freely.
Suspense, death, mystery and a hint of a blooming romance are intertwined with colorful characters in this interesting cozy mystery.
Another fun book for a stay at home curled up night of easy reading.. Her characters are well developed. Patiently waiting for the next book in the series.
Georgie has returned to her small but very historic Pennsylvania hometown to recover from the mysterious and unexpected death of her fiancee and to run a historic tour business in conjunction with her grandmother’s best friend’s bed and breakfast. The group that has just arrived is turning out to be quite a handful with their bickering and complaints, and then things go from bad to worse when a member of the tour group is murdered in the dark basement of a reportedly haunted house known for its violent history. Georgie begins finding clues and determines that everyone in the group has questionable pasts and motives for the murder. Just when Georgie figures out who committed the murder, she finds herself staring at a gun in the hands of the murderer. Her quick thinking saves her, and the local police arrive just in time to handcuff the murderer.
