I’ve loved Amber since I wore Batman Underoos, but she doesn’t know I exist. Not until she knocks me unconscious with a dead turkey. Now I can’t stay away, and it’s only a matter of time ‘til she learns my big secret. Not my recipe for beef bourguignon, but the secret one no one knows. Not even my siblings who’ve spent endless hours with me dreaming up our new luxury resort and oh yeah, getting … luxury resort and oh yeah, getting to know each other since we grew up with different moms.
But the more I’m with Amber, the surer I am she’s my dream girl. Brains, beauty, and the business smarts to turn a reindeer ranch into a quirky wedding venue. Did I mention she’s perfect?
Then my mom shows up stewing like a pot set to boil over, and suddenly I’m not sure I can keep a lid on things. Can the guy in the white chef’s hat be the hero who gets the girl and saves the day, or will it all fall flatter than a burnt soufflé?

Fast reading story about a chef and the girl next door.
Loving the series!
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I enjoyed it!
I definitely enjoyed “Chef Sugarlips” (nook) the second in Tawna Fenske’s “Ponderosa Resort Romantic Comedy Series.” Some of the dialogue was hysterical and I chuckled for quite a while. Of course there was angst but there also was the requisite HEA.
Hilarious and charming romance. Really liking this series.
Sean Bracelyn can whip up a fancy meal in no time but he can’t figure out relationships. When his dream woman comes through the door he decides to take a chance. Amber King is transforming her family’s reindeer farm into a country chic wedding venue. She doesn’t have time for a relationship but she can’t stop thinking about a certain sexy chef.
This was a fun and sweet read. I quite enjoyed how quirky both characters were. Their families were great too. Amber was beautiful and it has made her attract the wrong type of men. Now she is afraid to trust anyone because she knows they won’t like the real Amber. Sean has mommy issues and they almost make him ruin his future with Amber.
Overall, I am so glad I picked this book up because it was just what I needed after a few disappointing books this week. I would totally read the rest of this series too because I am interested in seeing more of this unique family.
This is a fun story. Sean and Amber are a great couple and there are lots of other great characters in the story. The family dynamics add to the fun and mayhem. There is lots to love in this story and I look forward to reading more of the series.
Attention: NSFPT – Not Safe For Public Transportation, might induce mid-swoon snort-laughing!
Tawna Fenske has done it again and delivered another story that is equally hilarious, heart-warming, and swoon-worthy, while tackling some serious issues as well.
What I love about Tawna Fenske’s books in general (at least the ones I’ve read so far), and this book in particular, are the family dynamics – both functional and dysfunctional. 😉
I definitely want to read more stories about these characters!
Even though this is the second book in the Ponderosa Resort series, this story can be read as a standalone.
Enjoyable tale of two very different people who are attracted to the other’s love of life and drive to succeed. A very factual side story about alcoholism and the effects it has on many lives. This is above all a tale of overcoming the less than perfect family we all start with and finding those who we are meant to thrive alongside.
This book is a tradition romance and I loved it. Funny unexpected things happen along with serious plot twist. Most of all true love and a happy ending.
More like 2.5 stars because of its writing style. At 75% read, Kobo estimated I would need 38 minutes to finish. As I’m a fast reader, it was probably closer to 30 minutes. Two hours for a book? Seriously?
Then I thought back. The female heroine almost kissed the hero with minutes of meeting him. And there went the romantic tension. Yes, there was character development, but the plot revolved more around the heroine and hero working through their individual issues before coming together.
I finished the book only because it was a quick read. I do not intend to read others in the series.
Just what I needed for this busy Labor Day weekend. Lots of fun, snark, and pure entertainment. This series looks to be pure rom-com and I love it! It’s a whole lotta snark with a side of serious. It’s pure entertainment.
Sean has lots of issues from his childhood. Heck, all of his siblings do. They are a boatload of them and they all have the same father, but different mothers. Yeah, one of those families. Sean has been keeping secrets. From everyone. Amber is “Miss Perfect” according to her high school years. She hates it. No one sees the real her, they only want to know her because of her reputation as Flawless Amber. She’s tired of it. She thinks Sean is seeing the real her until he doesn’t. But is it him or her? Either way, it’s hilarious.
Another hit from Ms. Fenske.
This is the first book in the series, but since there is a prequel, you know these characters from before.
This time is Amber and Sean. She runs the wedding planning side of the business with her sister and he’s a well-known chef working with his siblings on this new luxury ranch. Anyway, there was a lot of chemistry between these two, I loved them.
Sean is in the middle of some issues with his mom and Amber has some past issues that come from her teenage years. I love that they are able to talk to each other and take care of these insecurities that had the potential to ruin what they were building as a couple.
This was a fun and sometimes funny story, much like Ms. Fenske’s stories. A great blend of romance, hot times, swoon and fun times.
A great addition to this series and I can’t wait to keep reading this series.
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
Fun and realistic
I love how this author writes books that feels familiar and realistic in so many ways. A story from this author is always fun and easy to read.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Lots of fun but also meaningful dialogues
Well described characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities
Sweet and steamy love scenes
5 stars
This series is not deep, philosophical, or heartbreaking. It is, however, written with wit, good multidimensional characters, sweetness, and fun. I usually judge a series by how many I’m willing to buy. In this case — all of them.
Cute
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Dual POVs
Part of a series: Ponderosa Resort
Standalone
HEA
Epilogue
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I’m loving this series. It has laughter and heart and so much emotion. I love how these books blend side-splitting funny situations with deeply touching moments. The underlying message of this story seems to be all about how we respond to other people’s opinions of us; living up (or down) to their expectations. Amber was always seen as ‘the perfect girl’, and perfect is a really hard standard to maintain. Sean might have a bit of a martyr complex. He’s bad at opening up to other people but very good at looking after them. He’s been half in love with Amber from the time he first saw her. But will those feelings survive him getting to know the real Amber instead of the fantasy girl who’s lived in his mind all this time?
fun
Ok
Great and heart warming funny story
