Dating is hard. Dating in a small town? Impossible.Leave it to my little brother to come back home announcing he knocked up his fiancée and the wedding has been moved…to next month. When he tries to set me up with one of his football buddies, I tell him I’ll be bringing my own plus-one.Only problem? I’m hopelessly single.Enter Sullivan Scott, AKA my hero.We strike a deal: he’ll pretend to be my … hero.
We strike a deal: he’ll pretend to be my boyfriend, and I’ll use my mechanic skills to help him fix his boat. That’s it. No funny business, and definitely no feelings involved.
Sully’s quiet and reserved, and I’ve been told I’m too much to handle on a good day. We’re opposites, and neither of us is looking for anything serious.
I’m certain we can keep this strictly platonic…

Another hit for Teagan Hunter! Cheesy on the Eyes is anything but cheesy! It’s so romantic and hot and FUNNY. A great read.

Teagan Hunter did not have to go this hard but I appreciate it. Sully is my favorite TH boy now! I loved him from the first sentence he said. Usually, I always say something about how I couldn’t put the book down -which is 100% true whenever I say it– but it was the total opposite for this book. I had to keep putting it down because I was reading it so fast.
I had just met my true love (Sully) and I couldn’t part with him too quickly. This is Teagan’s funniest book yet and I laughed so much. Like, out loud.
The Chemistry between Thea and Sully is just everything. I am genuinely upset with Teagan Hunter for writing their book because I will now forever want more. The building of the relationship was so agonizingly sweet and I have to go to the dentist now. It is on the slower-burn scale seeing as how action doesn’t take place until closer to the middle of the book but damn, I loved it. The way Sully and Thea progressed from strangers to friends to more, was just perfection.
“‘And this line…means when I grow some balls and finally ask for your hand in marriage, you’ll say yes before I can even get the full sentence out. Fate is that sure of us, baby.'”
And holy bananas, I am in LOVE with Thea. She is everything…even if she doesn’t like pizza. I love how blunt and honest (without being rude) she is. I 100% loved everything about this story. Some will probably think that I’m just blowing smoke up Teagan’s ass but oh no no señor, I will give a negative review if I don’t like the book.
This book sucker-punched my heart and I was not expecting that. I had been waiting for Sully’s book since book one and was pretty nervous going into COTE because I was afraid it would let me down but nope, I am in love with this book.
I don’t really know how to end this review because I just have so many emotions that I can’t seem to put into words. But anyway, to wrap up, I am upset I finished this book so quickly –even if it was still slow compared to my other reads– and I feel like I need to reread immediately.
“‘Love her enough for both of you until she’s not scared anymore. Then love her some more.”‘
Cheesy on the Eyes was absolutely delightful! I laughed so much while reading it. Plus this book had one of my favorite tropes—fake relationships. I LOVE fake relationships books. Thea and Sully were made for each other.
I never knew what was going to come out of Thea’s mouth and I loved it. Her rationale for hanging out a pizza shop when she hated pizza was priceless.
I already knew that I loved Sully, but boy, I love him even more now. He has a heart of gold and his banter with Thea was so fun.
It was fun to catch up with everyone and they are just as ridiculous as ever. I would love to attend one of their parties.
This book was a fun, easy read that is sure to bring a smile to your face. There’s also a little bit of angst to make your heart ache. I believe this book is my favorite of this series. I mean, it’s got witty banter, wacky characters, spades of hotness and of course, Slice….what’s not to love!!
First of all, let’s start this saying that this book has FAKING DATE TROPE so it’s already a win for me!!
Thea is the definition of an extroverted person and she’s now my favorite teagan hunter’s heroine, i loved her sassy and quirky, her interections with simon and her family, basically: i loved everything about her, well, almost everything because I can’t pretend I’m blind to the fact she doesn’t like pizza, but we can’t have it all. Sully is such an amazing character, sensitive, I’ve been curious about him since the beginning because he’s super reserved and quiet and we don’t know much about him, so when he thinks he’s life is already pretty good and then Thea comes in and rocks his world, I’m all in.
It was nice to see more about his past and to see him open up to Thea, they are perfect for each other, they had the same quirky and easy going vibe and god, the slow burn, I was able to feel their chemistry from the beginning, every time they encountered sparks fly and omg it was so good to see all the characters together again, when the boys reunited it’s always so funny — I love them so much.
I liked it that it didn’t have too much drama, it was easy and fun to read, I finished it in a day because I couldn’t put the book down, I felt so good reading this book and that’s something I love about Teagan’s writing, it’s so easy to enjoy
“Nothing is ever certain, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take the leap and enjoy the fall.”
Easily one of my favorite quotes in this entire book. Fate has always been something that played so much into my life that I found this one hitting so close to me.
This book contained so much witty banter that I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing. Thea is a bold, strong woman and I loved everything about her. Heartbreak can make you guard your heart so well that lowering that guard can take a lot of work. But through the easy connection she forms with Sully it slowly lowers and this beautiful love story emerges. Sully is exactly what Thea needs to mend and move forward. He’s my favorite Slice guy!!!
“…a few who are like me-their roots feel entwined with the soil, and they wouldn’t dare rip a plant from its home.”
My second favorite line in this book. I hope one day to feel exactly like this in wherever I settle. This story was the perfect topping on the pie!!!!
Sullivan “Sully” Scott has been the man of mystery for us since the first Slice book, but now we get to learn everything about this very secretive man.
Thea needed a buffer when her ex walked into Slice Pizzaria, but what she ended leaving was her new fake-boyfriend. Sully and Thea will have you laughing out loud with there bickering and funny one-liners and then having you fall in love with their personalities.
Plus, let’s not forget about Sully’s good friends and their drunken antics. This installment of Slice had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.
Cheesy on the Eyes is the 5th story in the Slice series and follows Sully & Thea. It is a fake dating, strangers to friends to lovers story with enough laughs & heart warming moments to make you never want to leave this town of people Teagan has created.
Sully is a sweet, gentle and soulful guy who has always had the knack for reading people. He is funny, charming, independent, vulnerable and he is by far my favourite guy in this series & I was very much anticapting his story and I was not dissapointed at all. I LOVE HIM SO VERY MUCH.
Thea is funny, witty, outspoken and unapologetic about it. She has many insecurities and vaulnerblities brought on by previous relationships which has left her somewhat gaurded when it comes to love. When we first met her in A Slice of Love (the novella) I was secretly hoping she would be the leading lady in Sully’s book and I’m so glad she was. I loved her character just as much as I loved Sully. Her family was amazing & my heart broke for her a few times with how she had been made to feel previously but she truly was amazing.
Sully & Thea were so perfect together and I loved how their differences and opposite personalities just seemed to fit. This entire series is one of my favourites and getting to see all the interactions with each previous character in this book just made this all the more special. I could easily read about this group of friends and family forever.
Another fantatastic installment to the Slice series by Teagan Hutner! I loved Sully. I’ve been wanting more about him since he was first introduced in the series. He was a bit of mystery which was intriguing and of course I love him! Thea is another character that you will love from Teagan Hutner’s mind. She’s funny and witty. You’ll love these two!
Teagan does it again, and as always out does herself each time. Sully and Thea was EVERYTHING I needed. Thea is mouthy and hilarious. And Sully is perfection.
I’ve been wanting Sully’s story since we met him in the earlier books in this series. He’s always seemed a bit mysterious, but also like a really sweet guy. I felt that he was going to be a character that deserved and needed his own happily ever after and I was right. Cheesy on the Eyes was so much fun and ended up being my favorite book in the Slice series.
Sully is a guy that has a certain intuition that lets him know if something is right or not. He’s never had a relationship feel right and has let that be so far. He’s a sensitive one and I loved that about him. His childhood wasn’t easy and moving to this town a few years ago was his best decision. I loved Sully because he’s definitely in touch with him emotions, is a hard worker, a great friend and protective of the ones he loves.
Thea has always heard she was the odd one. She’s full of things that contradict themselves, but I loved that about Thea. It was great seeing a character being herself and loving her work that isn’t typically done by females. She’s tired of men thinking she doesn’t know what she’s doing and works hard to prove this. Help running her father’s shop is something she’s passionate about and I love how she goes for it. Her love life is non existing since she found out her ex was cheating.
Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and Teagan Hunter did it justice in this story. It was fun to see how easily they interacted with each other. The banter and laughing made me love this fake couple. I loved it slowly turning into more even if both of them weren’t counting on that. Cheesy on the Eyes has the perfect balance of steamy and romantic touches, sarcasm, laugh out loud moments and this book left a big smile on my face.
On top of Sully and Thea’s story being so much fun, I also loved seeing the characters we’ve grown to love throughout the series. I really think these are a great group of friends that anyone would want to be a part of. I definitely see myself coming back to these books often in the future!
Sully… *sigh* I think I just added another book boyfriend to my harem. This quiet soulful guy that’s been a mystery in the background throughout the series came to life and gave so much more than I was expecting. I friggin’ love Sully and Thea! They were so fun and fresh and I didn’t want their book to ever end. Teagan hit it out of the park with this couple. It’s now on my top three favorites of her books, and that’s saying something because I love them all. Don’t miss this one!
Disclosure: I have been waiting for Sully since A Pizza My Heart. There was always something so enigmatic about him, and I was instantly enamored by a supporting character throughout the following 3.5 books. Now here we are, book 5 in Teagan’s Slice series, and without even opening the cover I knew, I KNEW, it was going to be my favorite. When I was already smiling, CHEESIN’, if you will, in the first chapter- well, there you have it.
As easy as it is to be swept up in Teagan’s books, this review is hard to write- not because I have anything bad to say, but because I have NOTHING bad to say, and really it’s just all squealing in utter delight.
Despite Sully being a bit of a mystery, we still are acutely aware of his character. Meeting Thea in the first chapter I immediately started rooting for all things Thea. Quirky, (*not dull, over done quirk, Teagan has written it so effortlessly, that Thea FEELS real, like I could call her up- or text, I hate calling, and just be like, hey girl!) witty, assertive, but also vulnerable in that utterly relatable way. When Thea and Sully meet, despite not mentioning any kind of “fireworks”, dudes, I FELT them.
Quickly it turns into the best kind of shit shows, as Thea and Sully enter into a fake relationship that turns not so fake, obviously, BECAUSE THEY ARE PERFECTION (look, I told you, I’m all squeals about this story, I’m giving up any kind of eloquence and flailing in my fangirl-ness). Can I tell you are absolutely in love I am with Sully again? Because I will. I’ll just type it over and over and call it a day but I won’t… so let’s finish this heart-eyed review, shall we?
“Besides, what’s the harm in a little make-believe? It’s not like I’m going to fall in love with her.”
Sully, my heart. Sully, Sully, Sully, Sully.
I’m convinced Teagan is a teddy bear filled with rocks (if you’ve read the book, you know)- she is this adorable, unassuming ray of sunshine and then WHAM!! She has taken your heart, your swoony feels, turned you on, made you laugh, made you awww, basically, killed you with more sweetness than a Brookies & Cream.
I love the push and pull between Sully and Thea. I loved watching them fight the realness of their feelings, play pretend, acknowledge it became so much more and finally (*collective swoony sigh here, please, thank you) accept them wholly.
“Take the leap, enjoy the fall.”
As with all Slice books, I love past characters, and regulars (Hi Simon!) are woven throughout each book. I think that’s part of why Cheesy is my favorite, we’ve seen Sully from the get go, sneaking his way around and it seems fitting he is last.
Yes, I’m obsessed with him, okay?
I honestly have no idea what to say further, except that the Slice series is … it’s like the ONE movie you watch over and over and over no matter how many times you’ve seen it, because you just love it so much, and it’s like being wrapped up in a bit of happiness- does that make sense? The Slice series is happiness.
Sully… how could you not fall in love with him? He’s the quiet, soulful one standing in the background waiting for his time… to take that leap.
Thea and Sully don’t know what fate has in store for them, but when their worlds come crashing together, there is no turning back. Thea is a little hardened, which can be expected after that one douche-bag. But it would take a man like Sully to weasel his way into her heart.
Their story is sweet, full of passion with a slice of cheesy. They were destined for each other. This is a beautiful story, and I enjoyed every minute of it. There’s nothing like those stories that engross you. There’s something about Teagans characters, almost like their family. You get to laugh with them and be in with their inside jokes.
Cheesy on the Eyes is my favorite, and I feel so many will love it as well.
Overall, Five Boundless Stars
This is the Slice book I have been wanting! I have been so curious about Sully since he was introduced as Winston’s roommate. He is totally a different person than I originally thought. Thea is Jonas sister we met in the novella and I loved her right away and wanted her story. Well check out the new Slice couple. Thea is in the pizza shop (which is funny because she hates pizza) and she calls over Sully, a stranger to her, to act like her boyfriend when her ex comes in with his new girl. That is just the start for them. Sully becomes Thea’s fake boyfriend. They form a real friendship but soon it turns into more. They both have been hurt before and it’s never easy to trust again. I loved the interaction between these characters. Sully is such a great dude and talk about hot! And Thea is stubborn and strong and I just loved her. Get ready rom com fans for your new favorite book. I loved every minute of it. It had me laughing and swooning. I really felt connected to these characters and couldn’t get enough. What I love about this series is that all my favorite characters make an appearance in each book. This one might be my new fav in the series! As usual, bravo Teagan Hunter!
SERIOUSLY, is there anything better than a “fake dating romance” while social distancing?
I had been in a book slump during quarantine and CHEESY ON THE EYES was the perfect, quick and fun read to bring me joy.
I love this entire series and highly recommend reading all of the stories.
I don’t know how she does it, but she just does.
Teagan has this amazing ability to make her secondary characters matter as much as her main characters, and so you find yourself begging for a book for them. I’ve been dying for Sully’s story, and she delivered it. And she did not disappoint.
Sully has been one of my favorite secondary characters that Teagan had ever introduced. He’s such a great guy, and I always wondered who he really was. How he came to be the type of man he was. He’s the ttpe of guy to save you from an ex, and agree to a fake relationship. I just love him to pieces.
Thea was fantastic. I love how brave and bold she was. I loved her sass. And I loved the connection she found with Sully. My heart hurt from the pain that she had been through in her love life, but she was still strong and determined to not let it define her.
As always, the banter is hilarious. The chemistry is hot. The relationships of those around them feel real, and that’s what I think I love most about this series.
Teagan is a phenomenal writer, and I cannot wait to meet some new friends.
Another Teagan Hunter book that is fantastic! Sully is so much more than I thought and I love him! Plus Thea is a quirky hoot! This is definitely a book that I will be rereading many times!
This is exactly the book I needed! Teagan knows how to write Rom-Com! I dare say, she’s one of the best, if not the best! I know that when I read her books they will allow me to escape whatever’s going on and sometimes that’s just what you need!
I was so excited for Sully’s book and I was not disappointed! This is one of my favorite series ever! I want more, always more!!
4.5 Stars!
Being a fan of the Slice books I could not contain my excitement for this one! It’s been one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint! I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end! I loved it so much!
Right from the beginning Sully and Thea’s journey had me hooked! I adored these two! I’ve been wanting to get into Sully’s mind for so long and I’m so very happy I finally got to!
With Cheesy On the Eyes, Ms.Hunter has done it once again! The Slice Series has become one of my all time favorites!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
Sully has been a mystery throughout this series and I was so excited to finally get to know him. His loyalty and chill nature make him easy to love. Thea is the perfect fit for him. I’m so happy that these two were the final couple in the series. Hunter definitely saved the best for last!
