I have to focus on freeing myself… but she’s all I see.I never wanted the throne. I just wanted a normal life. Free to do what I want. Who I want.Luckily, I discovered a secret–and a loophole. Turns out I have a long-lost brother. All I have to do is track him down and make him the prince. A kingdom is what everyone secretly wishes they had instead of a job, right? Everyone but me.The clock is … but me.
The clock is ticking, and the last thing I have time for is cleaning up behind my sexy, accident-prone new neighbor. She’s everything I don’t want but can’t seem to stop thinking about. The fact that she’s spoken for shouldn’t make me so furious.
She can be my friend, but nothing more.
I can’t touch her. Can’t kiss her. Can’t fantasize about all the things I could do with her. To her.
And most of all, I can’t let her find out who I am.

When what you want for yourself is nothing close to what’s expected of you. Both Sebastian and Penny are stuck with roles that neither truly want or even feel they’re good at. When a series of events from the past make Sebastian act out, Penny is reunited with her childhood friend, though he has no clue who she is. What follows is funny, sexy, and absolutely intriguing.
Each of these characters were utterly likable. Sebastian was hot yet focused and trying to be true to himself and trying to be serious for once. His struggles with his father’s revelations were real and relatable. While he was being a bit selfish he wasn’t doing so in a way to hurt others or just plain run away. Penny is adorable and quirky. Her situation with the boyfriend and the drama concerning her brother is a bit of a shock but not altogether a surprise. The characters involved were more the shock than anything else, but the reality of what was going on could be predicted. Penny’s reaction, however, was the real gem. Her loyalty and understanding were never undermined by her hurt and anger. While it did lead her on her professional and personal adventure, it also freed her up to be true to the core of who she is and what she wants.
There was a lot of back and forth between deciding to reveal and deciding to hold back the truth about their identities. I’m not really a fan of vacillation but it’s understandable here. I think that Penny’s approach right in the beginning was the way it should have gone and her bestie’s ideas were kind of cliché and low. So yeah, they kind of worked, but it was Penny’s natural charm and quirkiness that really sealed the deal in the romantic/sexual department. Sebastian was at the real disadvantage because while he was deliberately keeping back his identity she already knew it all, including their link as children. I feel more badly for him at the end when the big “reveal” happens in the most unfortunate way and am eager to see how that mess gets sorted in Cheeky King.
Throughout the story and the relationship’s progression I was impressed that their interactions were mostly innocent. Sure, there were tons of sexual undercurrents, but that simmering chemistry was put on hold until they really knew one another and when that seal was broken, holy explosion of hotness. So yeah, tons of sexy times after that and very hot, but I loved that even with their names and societal positions/roles weren’t known, they got a true sense of who the other person really was. Their motivations, passions outside the bedroom, desires, yearnings, hopes, dreams, ambitions, family struggles…all of that combined to make them truly human, absolutely captivating to one another and to us as readers.
The story’s end was as dramatic as possible and a complete surprise. I kept thinking the secret would get outed but the way it happened was nothing short of a jaw-dropper. There’s an undercurrent of something more sinister that they’ll face along the way to their HEA and the duet’s ultimate resolution and I’m eager to see what and who is involved and how it will all play out. I’m envisioning all kinds of problems and heartache to come before they find the happiness and fulfillment they deserve together and as individuals.
Royal Guard Penelope is on an undercover mission to find the missing prince, protect him and bring him home. Crown Prince Sebastian doesn’t want to be king and is on a mission to find someone to be king in his place. Penny is determined to get close to Sebastian to do her job and moves in next door to him and introduces herself as Len. Sebastian can’t stop thinking about his beautiful new neighbour Len and they go from being friends to something more. Len knows she can’t have the handsome Sebastian who’s just a job but she still can’t help falling in love with him. Being with Len is against the rules but Sebastian might have to change the rules because he doesn’t want to let her go. Both Penny and Sebastian are keeping secrets from each other. What will happen when the cat’s out of the bag? Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger
Nana Malone delivers a funny, intriguing and steamy story that you won’t be able to put down. Fans of Nana’s Shameless series and Deep series will be happy as some of the characters from Blake Security appear in this story. I can’t wait to read Cheeky King, Book 2 of the Royals Undercover series to find out what happens next.
A fantastic book. Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Oh God, I adored Cheeky Royal! I’m a big royal romance fan as it is, but Cheeky Royal exceeded my expectations. It’s sweet, it’s sexy, and it’s got a twist that’s not seen in royal romances much, if ever.
Penny’s family has been in the Royal Guard since the 1700s, so she’s naturally part of the Royal Guard, too. The only problem? She’s a tad clumsy and klutzy. There may have been a few um…instances, so now she’s been relegated to being a glorified secretary in the Queen’s offices. But, then King Cassius summons her and tells her she’s to go undercover and become Prince Sebastian’s Guard, as soon as her father locates him, that is. But, there’s a catch, as her duty is to be two fold, she needs to get close enough to Sebastian to be able to convince him to come home.
So Penny becomes Len and she meets Sebastian while he’s disguised himself as a civilian so that he can find a certain someone. I don’t want to spoil though, so I’ll leave that person unnamed. There are cameos by my favorite security team (!!) and Len and her sidekick take on Prince Sebastian and the two fall in love. I was cheering these two on. They’re so cute together, and their chemistry is smokin’ hot. I’m TeamSebLen now and I can’t wait for Cheeky King so I can get my royal fix.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
Penny and Sebastian were playmates when they were younger but many years and experiences have past since that time. Sebastian is now the heir apparent of his island nation and about to become king. Penny is a college graduate who has returned home to her country and works with her family as a royal guard.
Their paths cross when Penny is assigned to protect Sebastian. Penny is undercover and can’t let him know she’s there to protect him for fear that he will take off. Sebastian doesn’t recognize her and is posing as a photographer and bartender himself. Both are keeping their true identity secret.
What starts out as friendship grows into more both knowing that what they have can’t last because of who they really are and if their true identities are found out it will end even sooner. They are living in a bubble.
So what happens when their real lives come knocking?
I really loved Penny and Sebastian. They are both smart artistic characters that are being pushed into lives that don’t seem to fit them by family and responsiblity. When they find each other again it just seems right.
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book for an honest review
Firstly you should totally read Cheeky Prince (Royals Undercover) which gives you the background to Penelope and Prince Sebastian. I just love Calamity Jane, I mean Penelope her character just sucks you in and good lord you just can’t help but feel sorry for her and how she doesn’t do so well as a Royal Guard but her heart is so in the right place. Prince Sebastion really is a bit of a tortured sole after leaving home due to a relational that changed how he looked at his Farther. This isn’t just a love story this is a bout 2 people wanting to be themselves and find it hard to conform to what their families want just because that’s just how it is. There is plenty of sole searching for both as well mutual attraction that gets in the way of what they should be doing. I can not wait to read book 2! oh and I loved how Blake Security make an appearance too!!!
I’m stating this right from the get-go…..this story DOES end in a cliffy. So enter at your own risk! *smirk*
Good golly miss molly….this was a great read! Engaging, entertaining, with a little bit of suspense and a whole lot of secrets and lies, you will not be able to put down this book!
To be completely truthful, I was expecting just another typical royal romance…swoony prince, delightful commoner, and a sweet and lovable storyline. But those descriptions are just a small taste of what Cheeky Royal is really about!
The story is profoundly unique and the relationship between Sebastian and Len/Penny is quite exceptional. Their dynamic together is a constant slow burn of emotions, acceptance, and obligations that leaves your head and heart in utter turmoil. You’re given exclusive access to both character POV’s, and you can’t help but feel embroiled with the ever-escalating circumstances and feelings that are developing. The intense passion and deep affection they share are beyond romantic and fiery. But they’re both withholding secrets from each other, and only one has the power to undoubtedly wreck their chances at love forever.
The saying, ‘You can’t always get what you want’, is truly the epitome of what this book is about. Sebastian and Len are the first to know their places in each other’s lives. And what the heart wants isn’t always what the heart gets.
I loved Cheeky Royal!! I can’t wait for Sebastian and Len’s story to continue in Cheeky King. If it’s anywhere close to how fascinating and entertaining this book was, then I know I’m going to love it just as much!
5 Stars!
Cheeky Royal was sweet and fun with a bit of steaminess thrown into it, all perfectly combined to make this book amazing. I loved Penny and Sebastian. Their personalities complemented each other and I felt that they were an excellent match. I can’t wait to read the next book, Cheeky King.
OMG!! This was so unexpected. I will be the first to admit that when I started reading this book, I did not think I would like it. I am not too big on kingdoms and such. That is what is so great about Nana’s books. She has the ability to pull in skeptics like me. Sebastian, Penny, Ariel and all the other characters grabbed me and would not let me go. I was thrown for some serious loops and unexpected surprises.
I am in love and I cannot wait to see how this story ends. Don’t worry, there is still plenty steamy sexiness.
Sebastian and Penny are no longer playmates. It’s been many years. Now he’s the next in line to be king and she’s in the Royal Guard. They just don’t see each other…until…
On assignment, Penny meets her old friend who doesn’t remember or at least recognize her. To him, she’s his arty, clumsy, adorably hot, neighbor. He’s living down his rep with women. She’s trying to prove her worth and get over boyfriend shock. Neither is going to go there. Problem is their bodies aren’t listening.
It was impossible for me not to fall for either of them alone and together. She is adorable and so much more than she appears. I love her self-defense skills. He is hot and focused on changing his life. They make great friends and the battle to stay that way is a fun ride. I enjoyed touching base with some old book friends. The emotions range from funny to sad to dangerous. Never a dull moment. I am ready and waiting for part two.

This is a SPECTACULAR entertaining fun filled book! The story is so exciting plus it’s such a page turner that you can’t help but to keep reading until you finish the book. I absolutely truly enjoyed these characters, they are exciting, captivating, engaging and written very well. Nana Malone ’s book Cheeky Royal is one of my favorite book to read. It’s a fabulous story of a Royal society, even the secondary characters in this book is enjoyable. The story is told from Penny and Sebastian point of view. Nana Malone is truly a expert when it comes to writing smart and sexy romances plus her writing will make you laugh out loud as you read her stories. I greatly appreciate having a up front admission because it’s a good place to be. Of course I’m a died hard fan of Nana Malone’s writing, regardless of what she is writes. I must confess since I started reading Nana Malone books I tend to read them 4-5 times, because anytime I need a pick me up I’m likely to read her book again and it’s better than the 5 hour stimulus drink. Okay, so now you know my dirty secret – I am more than a huge fan of Nana Malone. Why? What is so special about the way she writes? I think her books are unique, intriguing interesting and entertaining in this romance genre. I enjoy the fact that her focus is not just on getting to that perfect happily ever after ending, Instead it’s more about seeing how the characters interact together and how they react to certain situations that keep me on the edge of my seat. Her stories are about the characters. So there’s no sign of happily ever after without romance Well, kinda of any way, plus her steamy sexy times is mind blowing that’s why I enjoy Nana Malone books, plus this book has a awesome surprise YAY! There is competition between Sebastian and Robert for Penny affections. Sebastian is giving her a lot of first. Again I enjoyed reading Cheeky Royal Royals Undercover Book 1 by Nana Malone, she is such a talented writer, Plus her world building skills is well detailed and captivating. The pacing and word Flow is well done. I can’t wait to read the Cheeky King. Thanks so much Nana Malone, I am now excited and interested in reading Cheeky Prince. Despite the comedy mood of the novel, I absolutely can’t stop reading this book. Penny is so caring, loving, loyal, and generous. I loved how she felt the need to help the Prince. Sebastian is one of my favorites. He is a rebel prince , but Sebastian is tired of the Royal life he doesn’t want to be king and he would rather be a artist and for his brother to be king . He is clearly in love with Penny and he wants to tell her that he is the Prince. What is interesting is that the characters are not all what they appear to be, so the plot twists are quite fun. This series is charming, with lots of sweetness, sexiness, drama, great characters that’s well development and a near happy ending anyway! I would rate this book as follows
Hero and Heroine Rating 10, Sexual Tension Rating off the chart
Sex and Intimacy Scenes Frequency Rating 10
Plot and Character Development Rating 10
Dialogue and Ending Rating off the chart
The anticipation in this story had me turning the pages quickly. Cheeky Royal had me sneaking in chapters every chance I could. It’s a fun story full of humor, sexual tension and hidden agendas. And in usual Nana Malone fashion, we have a taste of suspense.
Penny aka Len follows in the family business and belongs to the King’s Royal Guard. She seems to have the perfect life on paper especially when it comes to her picture-perfect boyfriend. She is given an assignment directly from the King and is going to make sure she doesn’t fail him or her parents.
Prince Sebastian has a mission of his own and no one can know where he is, so he sends out decoys to keep the paparazzi and his Royal Guard busy. Little does he know that his adorable neighbor knows just about everything about him and that the King has requested her to bring him home.
I enjoyed the way this story revealed the dilemmas our main characters encountered and how they struggled with their feelings. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of this couple.
Cheeky Royal is told in dual points of view and ends in a cliffhanger.
