Quick, snappy, short story. Interesting to learn the intricacies of some dances. There was a lot of story put into this tale. Snippets of time, things learned, lessons learned and some things are hard to learn in life.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this short story via BookSprout and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
I found the main character to be fairly shallow and unlikable, which made the story not all that enjoyable for me. The author, however, is a good storyteller, and I didn’t find any glaring punctuation or grammatical errors. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This second book is a well-written story in a series with great characters and are the next great couple we get to know better from the first book . She has lost her dance partner in this amazing story and now has to find a new partner. She discovers herself, she goes from being self-centered to someone I can grow to want to know. She has so much to work through and she becomes a better person while she moves on into a new relationship. This is realistic look into a life and love a young dealing with real issues in her personal and professional life. A must read and I cannot wait for more from this author in this series.

Nadiene really likes Matt, and they are sometimes dance partners. She’d like more, but he just proposed to Macie. She sets her sights on Derick, but he’s not into her games. This story was too short to figure out, but it looks like Nadiene and Derick will be friends for now.

Ballroom Dancing Novella
This is a very short story that takes place just after book 1 in the ‘Got That Swing’ series. This story is almost pointless. The villainous woman from book 1 is looking for a new dance partner. This story leaves all sorts of opening for book 2’s plot. This story is about as deep as a sheet of paper. It needs more to be a viable book. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
Cheek to Cheek (Got that Swing 1.5)
This was the first time I read Renee Conoulty. I found her writing to be light, humorous, and very enjoyable. She caught my attention about dancer Nadiene and a potential new dance partner Derrick.
The story is a short story, which surprised me, given all that occurred within it. I felt it could have been at least a novella, that would have been a good opportunity for the author to delve into the characters of Nadiene and Derrick more deeply. At the crux of the story, Nadiene’s life seems to be unraveling – from losing her dance partner who she’s crushed on, to having to look for a new dance partner, then finding herself dancing in the back of the troupe and finally learning that her parents are divorcing. One wonders if Nadiene can handle all this at one time. Although somewhat self-centered and not very likable at first, Nadiene does redeem herself and you can’t help but cheer her on.

This is a short story that gives the reader an update on Nadiene, a not very likable woman from “Don’t Mean a Thing” who was dishonest with Macie in an attempt to keep her dance partner, Matt, all to herself. This time, Nadiene is setting her sights on gangly and awkward Derick, the man her instructor has partnered her with. Although he is a beginner and far below her own self-perceived status and rank, she plans on intensifying his training to make him a worthy replacement dance partner so that she can regain her position as the best-of-the-best in the performance troupe. Will she be able to make him an expert dancer to reach her goals? Or will he walk away from her relentless drive to be better than everyone else?
I really enjoy this author’s writing. The story line moves at a steady pace that keeps all eyes on what the characters are doing. The descriptions of both characters and their environment make it all real and exciting and will make the reader feel real emotions. Grab your copy and see if Nadiene’s plans push Derick away or change her into a better partner worthy of finding real happiness.
This short story focuses on Nadiene who I obviously didn’t like in “Don’t mean a thing”. This story is in line with the previous books in the series: light, fun and by the end I liked Nadiene a little more.
