Archer has always wanted what he can’t have—Quinn Dawson. Since the moment he saw her, he’s been denying his feelings for her, ignoring the void in his heart he knows only she can fill. Everything about them was wrong, the kind of wrong that felt so right. But none of it mattered. Not the terrible timing. And definitely not the mess it would create if Archer made a move on his best friend’s baby … friend’s baby sister.
It was supposed to be one night, but one night is all it takes to make everything more complicated, and they only have nine short months to sort it all out.
No, none of it mattered. Until it did.
Cheat Codes is book one in The Dawson Family Series.

Oh, the tangled web that Quinn and Archer land in. This is a fabulous ‘falling for your best friend’s sister’ romance. Archer and Quinn have admired each other from afar for years. After Archer and Dean are roommates at college, the Dawson family embraces Archer so when he finds himself struggling to resist Quinn, the baby sister, he does everything he can to resist her. Archer is busy studying to be a surgeon so they haven’t seen each other in years and meet up at Dean’s engagement party. Quinn is a successful computer programmer, she knows what she wants and she attacks, in her work life. Her personal life, well, no one compares to Archer who she never expects to like her. A kiss is shared. A chance trip to Chicago for Archer. An exciting weekend for them both when feelings turn into actions. But what will the family say if they start dating. I’m loving this intense and sexy journey as they both face the challenges of what it means to try to have a long-distance relationship along with a few other unexpected surprises.
It’s fitting that the baby girl, the only girl in this family, protected by a squadron of alpha males, is the focus of this read. These two have known each other for a minute and secretly carried a torch but he’s one of her brothers best friend and it wont go down easy with any of them. It’s never easy when brothers are involved but even more painful knowing what they are up against. This author has them doing the dance around and when things move forward the dance changes. I love the relationship in the family while the bantering is fun the dynamics are even better. No one is coming out of this unscathed but first he has to make her see it’s not a one and done that he’s in it for keeps. Great story and yes it ends with a cliffhanger but the second book is already out so you can get them both and not wait. Loved the story and that while she is the youngest this nerd knows what she wants and wont settle for less. All they have to do is use their words because cheating the codes and just using their bodies has already gotten them in trouble. Now it’s time for the end game.
Loved the book but to get the whole story you have to purchase 3 seperate books.
Quinn is the sister with several protective brothers. Archer is the friend of the brothers, and off limits to Quinn. Until he isn’t. Their story is one of burning attraction that turns into so much more, especially when there is a surprise involved. The interactions between the siblings is fun and the angst of Quinn and Archer’s growing relationship is a great read.
Very good book!
Cliff hanger ending for book 2
I absolutely adored this book!
I have a major crush on Quinn! This girl is independent, caring, nerdy, smart, everything I’d want in a best friend!
And Archer…my goodness! This man is so swoon worthy it’s incredible! The way he loves and cares for Quinn is adorable. The way he fiercely protects her, oh boy. Not to mention he’s sexy as all get out. Then there is also the fact that he’s smart and a doctor. I mean come on!
They way Quinn and Archer are around one another is beautiful. Though they are not without their faults, they love each other so much and it’s so beautiful to see.
Side note: I really love the Dawson family and their dynamic!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I love Archer and Quinn so much. This is a classic brothers best friend book but with a fantastic group of characters that are wonderfully rounded. I love the Dawson family but there is something really really special about Archer and Quinn. A 2 part book, Cheat codes definitely ends on a cliff hanger but fear not End Game is just as wonderful.
Emily Goodwin The End Game Book 2 In the Dawson Family Series (read the series in order)
AMAZING AND THEN SOME!! LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! I love this series a lot! Very well written. Characters are very well developed. Very adorable couple. I do highly recommend!!
Quinn and Archer~ a couple of make things work out, live in two different cities, careers are going well, a baby is on its way with family drama happening
“Everything feels perfect right now, and I know without a doubt that I’m in love with Archer. And for the first time, I think he’s in love with me too.”
This is an amazing duet
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it is totally worth buying and reading! I’m a sucker for romances, the steamier the better, and this one checked every box on my list. From page one, I’m rooting for the couple, and absolutely in love with the characters. I feel like I’ve known them forever, the author did an amazing job of bringing them and their world to life in my head. I was an emotional wreck during a few parts because I was moved so deeply by the events in the book, and by the end of it, I’m left on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. Important disclaimer, there is a cliffhanger at the end, so be prepared to need to read the sequel! But I promise the sequel is just as amazing and totally worth the read!
05/04/2021 Although I very much enjoyed reading “Cheat Codes” (nook), I was disappointed that it ended in a cliffhanger. This was not indicated in the Overview.
Archer and Quinn are the proverbial couple who fall in love but shouldn’t because she is the sister to his best friend. And, when their romance is out in the open, the brother is not happy.
Really enjoyed this book!
This was such a cute story and so well written.
Excellent book. The only thing I didn’t like is that it ended with a cliffhanger/part 2.
I didn’ t like the ending because it just stopped the story out of nowhere. Overall it is a good book.
Warning: This book is a CLIFFHANGER! I detest cliffhangers, particularly when it is not clear from the outset that this is not a standalone novel. The writing is decent. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, but not enough that I want to read 2,3, or 4 books to get to their ending. And the the secondary characters? How many books for them? Nope. I just can’t.
First off, I enjoyed this book but hated that it had a part 2 with a whole new book. I enjoyed the story but started getting a little bored with it. It just seemed a bit long and drawn out with two books…it was still an enjoyable read!!
does not have an ending
4 Nerdy Stars! This is the first book that I’ve read by Ms Dawson it won’t be the last. What a refreshing author. In fact…READER BEWARE….CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!! So, I know I’ll be reading other books by Emily Dawson because as soon as I finished Cheat Codes I immediately downloaded End Game to find out what happens between Archer and Quinn.
This is a much-used trope: older brother’s best friend falls for his little sister who has had a crush on the older brother’s friend for years. Both of them hid their feelings for one another. In this case, for about a decade. I sort of expected Archer to be a player, but he’s far from it. Quinn is an adorable computer geek. The chemistry between them is off the charts. The book is fast-paced and sucks you in from the beginning. I read this one late into the night and never regretted a minute of it.
