The truth isn’t always how we want it to turn out.
This is the story of J.P. & Lake. J.P. is named after Jude, the Holden brother’s grandfather. Lake is J.P.’s best friend, but wants to be more. J.P. feels the same. Neither knows how the other feels, yet. J.P. is looking for the truth about his dad after his mom passes away. She would never give him any info. He finds that he isn’t worth pursuing. J.P. and Lake have a happy ending together. Steamy scenes are included. They are welcomed into the Holden family with open arms. This was a really great series. I binged read this series, which I think is the only way to read it. It’s a page turner for sure. Looking forward to more books and series from M.S. Parker.
The story of JP and Lake gives us a lot of detail and a lot of background. The premise of the story is unique and as well developed as the characters. It is an enjoyable short story with depth and feelings. I love Jude, he is a great secondary character.

Lake and JP have been together since attending kindergarten. Both of them love each other but neither says anything because they don’t want to lose their friendship. However, after JP’s mother passed away, everything changes.
Shorter than the other books in the series and a bit different, but no less enjoyable. I like M. S. Parker’s style. It is refreshing and quick to read. Without any doubt an author to follow.
Chasing the Truth was a fantastic friends to lovers quick read. This is JP and Lake’s story. You’ll learn JP’s story from reading The Holden Brothers series in order.
This storyline moves very fast. The writing will keep you engaged and emotionally attached to JP and Lake.
This is a great addition to the Holden Brothers series and answers questions about the disappearance of HeidiTitan and Jude Holden’s involvement. JP (Jude Payton) Ives is Heidi’s son and after she passes away, he discovers he did t know his mother as well as he thought. She was financially well off. One of the bank accounts was in the name of Jude Holden. He never knew who his father was and was heading to Houston to meet the man and hopefully get answers. His best friend and roommate, Lake, who was by his side the entire time when his mom was sick, offers to go with him but wasn’t sure how much time she could takeoff from work. A very entertaining storyline and wonderful characters. I loved it!

Chase the truth results in some unexpected outcomes
Chasing the Truth is the fourth book in The Holden Brothers series and is the story of Jude Platon and Lake Duggan. While this is technically a Holden Brothers book it is a bit different from the others. At twenty-four Jude Platon loses his loving mother, Melissa Ives, to a brain tumor. She is the only relative that he is aware of so he is untethered in the world. That is except for his best friend Lake Duggan. As Jude is going through his mothers papers he discovers some things about her past that he needs to piece together to know more about what her story is and therefore his own. One thing he finds is the name Jude Holden with some financial records and sets out to find out who he is and what his connection was to his mother, after all it appears he was named after him.
His journey takes him to Houston, Texas where he does find some answers. But as his world is spinning around him, with long buried secrets coming to light, it is Lake who helps keep him together when she flies out to be with him. It becomes apparent that Lake and Jude have a special and close relationship but one that has not crossed the friendship line. Maybe it is time to take a leap for each of them?
Phenomenal book from beginning to end. Much anticipated wait for this one. Cannot wait for the next!!

Wonderful ending to the Holden Brothers series!
I loved the Holden Brothers series, so was happy to see JP get his own story and especially the followup to the Holden brothers. You feel for JP’s struggles upon his mother’s death, and how important his best friend, Lake is in his life. But will the two ever cross over the friendship line into something more with JP trying to figure out life after his mother’s passing? You have to read to find out and will not put this short read down until you turn the last page!
Good lesson about family! JP flies to Houston to finally learn about his father. Lake, his best friend and room mate sends him off with her emotional support. Hearing the initial news, JP analyzes the nature of his feelings for Lake. Lake has been in like with JP since the first day of kindergarten. She has been in love since she learned what love meant. As JP’s investigation continues, he’s getting to know Jude more. JP and Lake are likeable and could be developed more. Does JP find his Dad? Is his dad a man of honor? What about Jude and his family? Nice story, I wish it was longer. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An Ancillary Story That Intersects With The Holden Family! Jude Holden Plays A Pivotal Role In This Quick Read.
This stand-alone quick read is an ancillary story that intersects with the Holden family and is technically part of The Holden Brothers series. It highlights the kindness and welcoming nature of the loving family. Jude Holden plays a pivotal role and the Holden brothers make an appearance near the end. It offers a peak at Damon and Jae’s wedding.
Jude Platon Ives, twenty-four, wasn’t prepared to lose his mother to a brain tumor. When she passes, the level-headed electrician is lost and left with nobody in the world to turn to except Lake. JP doesn’t make friends easily, but she had been his best friend since the first day of kindergarten. Their friendship is solid, and he needs her support when he discovers that his beloved mother kept secrets from him. JP had accepted that she had a reason to keep his father’s identity a secret, but when he finds money he hadn’t known his mother had and he can’t trace her history prior to her pregnancy with him in Maine, his world spins. He finds a clue on one of the financial statements. A name – his name, Jude. His namesake. Jude Hudson must have been important to his mother. Whether his father or just someone significant in his mother’s life, he knows he needs to go to Houston for answers.
Lake Duggan, about twenty-four, made a work excuse to avoid accompanying JP to Houston. She works at the Gilded Lily, a boutique for women that specializes in lingerie and toys. Teagan Young, the owner and her boss, is a romantic that would happily give Lake as much time as she needs to join JP in his quest for answers. Lake and JP have shared an apartment since she realized college wasn’t for her around four years ago. But the normally carefree Lake has been crushing on JP since forever and is afraid of messing up their friendship with emotions running so high. Hanging out with JP all day in Houston and shacking up in a hotel room together is more intimate than normal and too risky. JP shows no romantic interest, so she has held back, hoping one day he will return her feelings. But the guilt weighs her down when she remembers how JP helped her through her own mother’s death ten years earlier. When she hears JP’s pain over the phone, she knows she has to go to him.
JP and Lake’s journey is a sweet story about the very best of friends finding the courage to admit to their feelings for one another while in the midst of a personal crisis. JP loses his mother, finds himself orphaned and alone, loses his job when his employer goes out of business, and discovers that his mother had kept life-altering secrets from him – all in a very short period of time. With everything spinning out of control, Lake is there for him as always. Their twenty years of friendship transform natually into something more, but not without a few hiccups.
Jude Holden provides the answers JP needs, but in doing so takes the young JP under his wing. Though they live in Maine, JP and Lake are welcomed into the fold with open arms. The family and the couple have a brief but sweet HEA.
JP and Lake’s story is a quick read that is easily finished in an evening. There is a lot of story in this small package. It is nicely written. The plot is fairly complex given the length. The characters are well-defined. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between JP and Lake. I rate this book 4.5. stars.

I’ve always loved friends to lovers, but this one is absolutely LOVED. Lake and JP, are so cute together, rely on each other for everything. Few times I was so frustrated with these two I just wanted to yell at them.
