When firefighter Connor Mahoney decides to run for mayor, he’s confident of victory because of his brilliant idea to put Frank, a local canine hero who saved a drowning child, on the ticket with him. Then Connor gets some unwanted help from the Dogmothers, who think a pretty new arrival from Washington DC would make a perfect campaign manager for their highly-eligible bachelor grandson. Connor … might like the idea of working with gorgeous Sadie Hartman, but she’s doing her best to keep him at arm’s length.Disillusioned by politics after her DC experience, Sadie doesn’t want the job, no matter how smoking hot the sexy firefighter is, or how much his sweet grannies push their matchmaking plan. But then Sadie learns that the race has another candidate — a man who was instrumental in wrecking her family. Uncertain the “dog and firefighter” ticket can win, Sadie launches her own campaign to be mayor of Bitter Bark. But everyone is in for a big surprise when a two-hundred year-old law is unearthed to upend the entire election. The only way for Sadie or Connor to save the town from a terrible mayor is to join forces in a way no one is expecting. As Sadie and Connor discover that the best part of running against each other is literally being against each other, it doesn’t take long to realize that sometimes winning the race means losing your heart.

If your looking for a steamy, fun, can’t put it down book Chasing Tail is the one for you. It has passion, pets and a fun heart warming set of Dog Mothers. Great read and don’t forget the tissues.
She’s done it again. I expect a romance book to have boy meet girl and then end in love, with some good stuff in between, but this book is so much more. Connor and Sadie are no ordinary couple nor are their pets, Frankendog and Demi. They get into one predicament after another and you might as well forget about sleeping. This is a book you won’t put down until you get to the end. This book shows more creativity than any novel I have read. It is just amazing. Try it; you’ll like it—no, you will love it!!
If your looking to read a romance story with humor, a little suspense, some spice, matchmaking grandmothers, and a couple furry creatures, then look no further. This is one of those books that you will thinking about for days after you finish reading it, and catch yourself chuckling about different scenes.
I was hooked from the beginning when Sadie first runs into Connor. You could feel the chemistry between them, that is until she discovered who he was. Turns out she definitely remembers him from high school when he beat her out for class president. Only problem is, he doesn’t remember Sadie at all.
The next thing you know, they are running against each other, and another candidate, for mayor of Bitter Bark. As they progress through their campaign’s, they learn a lot about each other and how they’ve both changed over the years.
There are so many special relationships in this book – not only Connor and Sadie, but also between Frank (the dog) and Demi (the cat), and of course the whole Kilcannon, Mahoney, and Santorini families.
Every time I finish a book by Roxanne St. Claire I think ohhh this is my favorite book, then she has a new one out that becomes my favorite. Bottom line is every book she writes is so awesome that I fall in love with it. Her characters are genuine and her storytelling ability is spot on.
Conner and Sadie just fit so well together. They each came into this story with their own baggage but watching them come together provided such an addictive read. Every scene together was pure gold IMO. I must say that The Dogmothers are working their way to seeing their grandchildren all find their own HEA.
I LOVED Connor and Sadie’s amazing story in Chasing Tail by Roxanne St. Claire, book three in her Dogmother series. Firefighter Connor Mahoney is the jokester, flirt, womanizer, who is seldom taken seriously. So when he decides to run for mayor of Bitter Bark, it’s the same old thing, no one believes him. Connor figures he has the ability to win the race by putting Frank, an abandoned canine who saved a drowning child, on the ticket with him. As usual, the Dogmothers have to play matchmaker, by sending Sadie Hartman to Connor with the idea that she would be the perfect campaign manager for him. After all she just returned to Bitter Bark from working in Washington, DC. Sadie doesn’t want that job, no matter how hot and sexy Connor is, or how often they might end up being together. Sadie discovered that another mayoral candidate is in the race, a man who was instrumental in wrecking her family. Uncertain the “dog and firefighter” ticket can win over the other candidate, Sadie launches her own campaign to become the mayor. When an archaic law, written by the founder of Bitter Bark, is discovered, Sadie and Connor join forces, in an unexpected manner in order to stay in the race and beat the third candidate. Sadie and Connor soon discover that running against each other is almost as good as running together as a team.
I found Connor to be more authentic that his colleagues and family gave him credit. Connor adopting an abandoned dog, who saved the day, warmed my heart. Sadie was no longer the resentful school girl who thought Connor was all talk and no action. The attraction and magnetism between these two pushed them together, giving them a chance to realize their friendship wasn’t fake. The friendship between Connor’s dog, Frank, and Sadie’s cat, Demi, was so sweet; setting the example that Connor and Sadie also belonged together.
Ms. St. Claire wrote a fun, flirty and amazing story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, off the charts sexual chemistry, humor, and charming characters giving Connor and Sadie a chance at love, happiness, and a future neither expected. I highly recommend Chasing Tail to other readers and look forward to the next book in this wonderful series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
It is so hard to say which book in this series is my favorite, every one is as great as the last one, but I loved Connor and Sadie. Conner is a firefighter who everyone likes even if they don’t take him seriously because he jokes his way through life. No one thinks he can be serious enough to run for Mayor. A solution comes to him in the form of a hero stray dog. Sadie is back in Bitter Bark to regroup after her career and relationship in DC have fallen apart. The Dogmothers set to work trying to convince her to help Connor with the election, but to make sure the local undertaker doesn’t when she decides to run as well. When an old law is brought forth Sadie and Connor most decide if they can work together to make sure he doesn’t win. As with all the Dogmothers and Dogfather books there is a cute doggie and the heart of this story, but this time there is also a cat. I can’t wait to see what the next story holds for us.
Loved it! Another great match by the Dogmothers. Connor and Sadie’s road to their HEA was not a smooth one. In high school they competed against each other for class president and now, as adults they are in competition again. This time for Mayor, really it is Frank on the ballot not Connor, but in order to run, they have to fake being engaged. This is when the fun begins. The more time they spend together, the deeper in love they fall. Not only do they fall in love, a sweet love develops between Connor’s adorable dog Frank, who I fell in love with, and Sadie’s cat Demi. This book will leave you feeling good. I highly recommend it and all the books in the Dogmothers and Dogfathers Series. I cannot wait to read the next book and see who the Dogmothers will match up.
I received an ARC copy and this is my voluntary review.
Frank and Demi steal the show. Just love them. Sadie comes back to Bitter Bark disillusioned. She brings Demi with her and is hoping for a new start. She has been betrayed so many times and this was just the last straw. Connor loves Bitter Bark and wants to run for mayor. No one will take him seriously until Frank and Sadie comes along and changes his world. Sadie needs to learn how to trust someone again and she doesn’t think Connor will be that person. As she and Connor run for mayor, the sparks fly and they come together to go against another opponent. Connor doesn’t do permanent, but he is rethinking that with Sadie.
Stray dogs, stray cats, a woman running from a cheating boyfriend and a hot firefighter who jokes his way through life come together in Chasing Tail for a “can’t put down” story. When I first met Connor, I wasn’t too sure how much I was going to like him as a hero, but by the second chapter, I’d fallen in love. Connor and Sadie had known each other in high school, but Connor didn’t really remember too much about her at first. As the two of them get to know each other and realize they are going to have to join forces if they want to save Bitter Bark from a no-good, cheating candidate for major, a rivalry soon turns into something much more than either of them had anticipated. While this is a Dogmother story, I think that perhaps the founder of Bitter Bark needs to take credit for this romance as the Great DogGrandFather since it’s his old-fashioned charter that ultimately draws Sadie and Connor together. To add to the enjoyment of the story, Frank, the stray dog, and Demi, the stray cat, strike up their very own special relationship , which also helps Connor and Sadie draw closer together. There’s even an element of suspense thrown in with Sadie’s old boyfriend and boss – an element that St. Claire always writes so well. A truly great story and a fun read! Connor and Sadie quickly become two more of the Dogmother/Dogfather family members you can fall in love with.
This is such a wonderful read. Nothing like a good looking firefighter with a dog to pull on the heartstrings. There were a couple of times I got teared up with Sadie & Connor, and Demi & Frank. I think the animals deserve as much credit as the Dogmothers. I think this is one tops my favorites list. Leave it to a Hot Fireman to start a fire and put it out!!!
What is not to love about the newest Roxanne St Claire book, Chasing Tail? I’ll tell you, not much at all! Connor Mahoney, local firefighter….HOT firefighter!! Connor may be a joster but, in reality he only wants what is best for his family and his hometown, Bitter Bark. Sadie is a former Deputy Chief of Staff for a congresswoman from Texas. The Dogmothers are working diligently to bring these two together. You get to visit with the Kilcannons, Mahoneys, and Santorini’s multiple times to see how their lives are going. Love this family and how they are always working together for the betterment of their beloved Bittler Bark and families. I am completely enamored with the writing of Roxanne St Claire. Her characters are strong in character and their love of family and friends. There are so many wonderful parts to this story that I want to share with you but I would give so much away in how Connor and Sadie’s story play out. If you have read any one of the Dogfather or Dogmother stories before you will love Connor and Sadie. If you have not, this is a great one to start with!! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Completely and wholeheartedly recommend any Roxanne St. Claire book. 5 stars*****
Roxanne St. Claire writes books that pull me in from the very first page and this one was no exception. From the moment Connor found Sadie lost and looking for Bushrod’s, I could feel the chemistry. The hijinks of the Dogmothers helped move things along, and as usual, there is the close family lending support, and a bit of light hearted pressure. Add in lovable dogs, and now a cat, a bit of politics and a sleazy candidate for mayor, a bit of mystery and tension, as well as an emotional romance, and this book is a heartwarming and entertaining read. Romance at its best!
Another incredible tale about love, matchmaking, dogs and big families! I had the honor of reading an ARC of Chasing Tail by Roxanne St. Claire, her third book in Th Dogmothers series for an honest review. All I can say is that I am not sure how she does it, but I truly loved every page and could not put it down. Each book gets better and better, and Chasing Tail is filled with so much emotion, that you better have Kleenex near by. Chasing Tail is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Roxanne St. Claire tale. It is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments, and many surprise plot twists, and once again proves that Rocki is a master storyteller. My favorite part of The Dogfather and The Dogmothers series is the sage advice that Roxanne always intersperses throughout the story from Gramma Finnie, Daniel and Annie Killcannon, and now Captain Joe Mahoney, the late patriarch of the Mahoney family. I loved Joe’s famous quotes and how they have shaped the lives of his sons. Reading Chasing Tail felt like going home, as does all the books in the series. I love catching up with all the Killcannons, Santorinis and Mahoneys. It feels like a family reunion in every book. Chasing Tail is the story of Connor Mahoney, super “hot” firefighter and EMT of the Bitter Bark Fire Department, and second oldest Mahoney child and Mercedes “Sadie” Hartman, former assistant to a Texas Congresswoman. Sadie has recently returned to Bitter Bark, with her cat Demi, from Washington, DC where she has worked since graduating from college. Sadie ran away after a bad break up with her boyfriend, Nathan Lawrence. The Dogmothers think that Sadie is the perfect match for Connor and suggest that she take on the role of campaign manager, since Connor, actually his dog Frank, is running for mayor. Unfortunately, Sadie finds out who the other candidate running for mayor is Mitch Easterbrook. Sadie, and most of Bitter Bark has had a negative encounter with Mitch and she cannot support him for mayor. So the Dogmothers’ plan for Connor backfires, or does it. In order to run for mayor, Sadie and Connor must pretend to be “betrothed” to each other, because of some law regarding the marital status of candidates running for mayor. Who doesn’t treasure a “fake fiance” romance, and I love how Pru inadvertently put the idea in Connor’s head. While pretending to be “fake fiances” Connor and Sadie’s relationship changes and they start to have feelings for each other, but will the sudden appearance of Sadie’s ex-boyfriend and former boss, change things for Connor and Sadie. I love the stories behind the naming of Connor’s dog, Frank and Sadie’s cat, Demi and the nicknames that Connor and Sadie have for each other, and how the meaning of those nicknames changes. Lots of laughs were shared between Connor and Sadie and it truly made their story and their romance memorable. My favorite part of their story was when Sadie recalls her chance encounter with Joe Mahoney, have your Kleenex ready. Roxanne has once again delivered a lovely tale that includes “fake fiances”, love, laughter, dogs, cats, big families, Dogmother grannies, and a happily ever after. I truly loved every page. Cannot wait for John Santorini’s story and discover who the Dogmothers’ will find for him.
We are back in Bitter Bark in this latest addition to the Dogmothers series.
This time we get to meet Connor Mahoney and Sadie Hartman.
Connor , a firefighter with all the charm of the Mahoney’s, has decided to run for mayor using Frank, a canine hero, on the ballot.
Sadie, a DC transplant, is appalled that flirty Connor is using a dog for his campaign.
But life is full of surprises and of course, the Dogmothers have their own agenda.
Another entertaining story by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
