Chasing Sofia is a mix of life and death, drugs and cartels, and love and suspense. It is a fully loaded roller coaster on it way through so many loops that your head almost spins. This is a full on suspense where you are sitting on pins and needles trying to figure out each new piece of evidence. You feel the fear for Sofia with every shadow she sees or every noise she hears. But most of all you are pulling for Sofia to find the peace and joy she so desperately needs in Jesus. With her new found faith and her love of Caleb and the life he has built with God as #1 and a balance of personal life and work #2, they have the main ingredients for a happily ever after.
Elle E. Kay has written another fantastic romantic suspense. This is the third in a series, but was easily read as a stand-alone. References to past incidents were explained just enough to get the reader “up to snuff” without being repetitive or feel like a backstory dump. Sofie and Caleb are wonderful characters, relatable and three-dimensional. I enjoyed trying to solve the crime alongside them. The romance moved along kind of quickly, but it was well-done. Caleb is a strong, complex man with a strong faith, yet struggled with temptations honestly and openly. I appreciated Sofie’s journey of trying to figure out God and whether or not she wants a relationship with Him. The author does a great job of addressing today’s issues in a sensitive, yet realistic way. The suspense kept me turning pages as I continued to read “just one more chapter.” Highly recommended.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author. A positive review was not required, and all opinions are my own.
A wonderful story full of suspense, danger and God’s grace. Believable characters and scenarios. Well done. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This was a very interesting and involving book that held my interesting so much I had a hard time putting it down! It was also quite realistic as far as the world of drugs and cartels and crime go! Sofie isn’t “into” religion but as she works with DEA Agent Caleb Daniels to solve the murder of her boyfriend, he tries to be a good example of a Christian and teach her about Christian values. She’s also not into the institution of marriage but Caleb, who is quickly developing feelings for Sofie, tells her that he wont date her unless their relationship is going towards marriage. I felt that everything Caleb did was quite realistic as he dealt with trying to live his values in the world today. It’s hard to stay true to yourself and your values when temptations are all around you! All this is happening as they are trying to keep Sofie from getting killed because the cartel is after her and they play very, very dirty. This story had the points of view from various people involved, even the bad guys, so it was very interesting! I highly recommend it!
This book will grab you on the first page. It is full of action, drama, romance and inspiration. Once you start reading it, you can’t put it down, you have to know what happens next. The author’s way with words makes the book come to life. I highly recommend this book.
This story has romance, suspense, mystery, betrayal (not the main characters), murders, and salvation. The author, Elle E. Kay, blends all those elements together to give her readers an exciting and well-written book. There is a perfect HEA. I would definitely read more by this author. I recommend this book to readers of clean/wholesome romance, to readers of Christian fiction, and to romantic suspense readers. I encourage you to read the author’s personal testimony. It’s after the end of the story. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this inspiring book.
Sofie is angry at Johan, her boyfriend, for standing her up for lunch. When she marches into his office, someone starts screaming at the sight of his body, hanging from the blind cords. Realizing the scream was coming from her own mouth did nothing to lessen the sound.
Sofie was caught in a web of drugs, lies, a coded journal, murder and doubt. She didn’t doubt that her boyfriend was murdered, but almost everyone else did. Caleb, a DEA officer, arrived to question her and immediately there seemed to be a connection. But her boyfriend just died – this was totally inappropriate!
Caleb, a Christian, knows he cannot be in any kind of personal relationship with a non-believer like Sofie. But he quickly finds he must protect her from the evil forces surrounding Johan’s death and the deaths of several of his women college students.
This book is a mystery, but so much more. It is also a story of the greatest love of all time – that of God for mankind. This is a great book and I will highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a quiet evening and a book. Great job, Elle E. Kay!
I was provided a free copy of this book by the author/publisher. The opinions in this review are totally my own.
