This one sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go until I finished the next book in the series!
best cliffhanger ending
Wow! Just Wow. Ronin does a great job of reeling you in and making you feel comfortable that this will be just another romance. The sub-plot of the friendship between Veronica (Red) and Kara is fantastic. Caleb & Red are a dynamic couple. And Caleb is so sweet. ThenBAM! Everything turns. And it’s a good thing. We learn that sometimes people aren’t who they seem. And several of them have some mean motivation to hurt Caleb & Red. This book ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next installment, Always Red.
i love it
If you’re looking for a good romance story this is the perfect book I read this in a few days it had me reading in the morning in the afternoon when I was eating, it’s a page turner
Easy to read and hard to put down.
It is by far one of the best reads I have ever come across.
I mean, it’s a RomCom. If you want a quick read that makes you feel like you know the characters then this is your book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
I felt as if this book is different than some books along this story line. It is such a good book but it is very mature in some parts so I recommend 14+ would be a good audience to read it.
I won a bag of ARCS from various authors from an online contest and this book was included. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Handsome, rich, Caleb Lockhart, college jock and MVP, spots a girl in a red dress, dancing in a club and is mesmerized by her. She shoots him down, but then he rescues her in the parking lot. She is currently homeless, so he invites her to use his extra room. She doesn’t want charity, so he tells her she can cook for him and that is how their relationship begins.
Veronica Strafford, is struggling to support herself while working her way through college. Her mother’s recent illness and death, has left her in debt. While drawn to Caleb, she was abused by her adopted father and then watched him cheat on her mother, so she doesn’t trust anyone, especially men. But as they spend more time together, she learns that his father also cheated on his mother. For the first time in his life, he is drawn to one girl, and not interested in all the girls that fling themselves at him. But she is too scared and keeps pushing him away.
Several things don’t make sense in this book. We in America are constantly being lectured by the leftist media about how wonderful the Canadian health care system is, so why was Veronica in debt for her mother’s care? And if she was homeless, why was she spending money getting drunk at a club? I found that after a while, Red’s constant rejection and lack of trust for Caleb, got tedious. The characters are well developed, but the story moved slow. Villains added to make the relationship more complicated and ends with a cliff hanger.
I love this book! I don’t get the hate for it. Is it because it’s on Wattpad if so that is stupid. I have several books I am writing on Wattpad does that make me a bad author, no! Is it because it’s a Romance, I don’t normally like Romance either but, this is funny and well written. I can’t wait to read more of Isabelle’s books!
Absolutely beatiful book. There were some moments that had me crying and others had me laughing out loud.
This book was so all over the place that it gave me whiplash. The two main characters had very specific personalities, as drilled into us by the author over and over throughout the book: Caleb is a big, clueless, goofy, popular “big man on campus”; Red/Veronica is a skittish, stubborn, holier-than-thou “damaged girl.” Except…throughout the book, at random moments and without any seeming reason or prompting, each one would act in a way that was completely the opposite. Add to that the random characters that suddenly show up with their own separate plot lines (Kara, Cameron, Beth, Theo) but then those plot lines don’t go anywhere…plus the curveball plot twists of Red’s nightmare, Justin (is that his name? can’t even remember and I just finished the book) suddenly becoming menacing; Beatrice-Rose’s bunny boiler behavior…
All that aside, I think the main reason I didn’t connect with this story is that the characters are just really unlikable. Caleb is clueless and brainless, Red is stubborn and annoying, I wasn’t invested in either of them.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC, provided by the author and/or the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Highly addictive story line, that had me burning right through the pages, I completely devoured it in one sitting! It was full of angst, drama, hope, and some serious sexy times that will have you blushing! Overall I’d say it was a great first read, it had plausible plot, likable characters, a little drama filled backstory and it was all blended together nicely. This was a first read for me, and I think it’s safe to say I’ll be back for more. Definitely a can’t miss read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
