Alice was wrong – Wonderland wasn’t so wonderful after all. Kat never expected to be back in her hometown, but when house sitting turns into a mad rabbit chase, Kat finds herself with a whole new set of problems. A two headed bird with a Game of Thrones obsession, a party full of tea addicts, and a Cheshire Cat who could seduce the pants off her grandma? And if the citizens weren’t bad enough … weren’t bad enough their prince was off his rocker.
This wasn’t your run of the mill Wonderland. This was the Fae world, where rules are rules, and some things are exactly as they seem.

This was my first introduction to Erin Bedford and I loved it! The story is exciting, the world is well developed and the characters! Wow, the characters are fabulous!! They are not like Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland characters, but neither is the world the same. This is definitely for grown ups and the world and the characters are much more complex than it first seems like they would be. I really loved this book and am rapidly devouring the rest of the series!
Lately I have been reading lots of re-writes of fairy tales and here we are with a spin off of Alice in Wonderland. Well it isn’t the same place and oh Alice is the as well. I liked it and the characters and commend the author on a job well done. The story was fun and had it’s twist and some intrigue and left you wanting more. I look forward to the next book in the series and seeing where Kat goes from here.
An interesting take on the idea of wonderland
I could see the characters and world they lived in with every word I read
I would recommend this author however I dropped the series due to constraints on my time
Note: will pick up series again later and edit all reviews

I enjoyed this different take on Alice Wonderland. The world of Wonderland is melded with Faerie which was pretty cool. This is definitely an adult story, with some sexual situation and steam, and well as a near-rape scene so if that bothers you, don’t read this book. Kat chases a rabbit that has been stealing carrots in her garden but ends up in Wonderland. When she tries to escape she ends up on many different adventures with weird, scary, or crazy outcomes. Overall I enjoyed this book although Kat can be a bit annoying at times, but the story itself was fun and interesting. I curious to see where it will go next!

Change happens all the time, some for good, some less so. Ever Wonderland changes, as our heroine soon finds out. And definitely not all for the good.
This is a fantasy story which revisits the classic Wonderland setting, not a retelling of the original story. Some of the setting and characters may see familiar, but they have changed over time and our heroine has her work cut out for her if she wants to make it home again. The story is well written, easy to read and very engaging. I found myself drawn into the story from early on and had a hard time putting it down. The contrast between what you think you know from the original story versus the current story can be a bit jarring at times, but it also makes it all that more fun. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

A new Wonderland telling with a fae point of view were nothing is like the original book of Alice. And Alice is not what you think either. But this only part her story and another part Katherine’s story who is she and what dose she have to do with anything.
Katherine has moved home and she hates it. But one white rabbit has been getting into her garden and now she has him if she can catch him. Now she’s in the Underground meeting that are completely different and over eager to get into her pants. From angry princes to naughty cats and vengeful fae. She has one crazy trip and just when it should all be over something else happens.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review. I have also purchased a copy.
Kat chased a “rabbit” out of her garden for stealing carrots. She followed the rabbit into a cave and ended up in the underworld. There she finds a strange world full of Fae. Was this the Wonderland Alice had seen, or was this a strange dangerous place? What will happen to Kat?
Overall, this book was enjoyable. It keeps you wanting to read more to find out what happened to Kat. I will be continuing this series.

OMG I loved this! From the very start I found myself sucked into this action-packed adventure and I just could not put it down! I am a massive fan of fairytales and their retellings and this Alice in wonderland style tale is simply awesome! With an intriguing dark and twisted storyline and fantastic characters I am really looking forward to reading the next book!
a twist on Alice in wonderland but I must say it is an absolute must read. I’m looking forward to reading more.
Katherine is back home in Iowa, after being away. Her mother got her a job interview at the library. The person interviewing her is an old high school class mate. She is really really surprised that she got the job. Katherine is used to feeling like she is being not like she is not enough. Her mother is forever picking her sister, leaving her feel like the old one out. After arguing with her mother one the one, she hears the rabbit trap go off. Kat runs to see the rabbit that has been stealing her food. She sees the rabbit getting away. She follows it to a cave, where she sees designing on the wall. Kat comes to a hole in the cave. She all of sudden hears the someone talking and light coming there. Kat decides to have a leap of faith and gets caught.
Kat doesn’t know where she ended up and decides to go out one of the doors. She followed by a Trip and Mop. They try to explain where she is. Kat will go through an adventure and make a lot of mistakes in trying to get home. Kat will meet a prince, a cat and so many others. She will also learn just who she is
This was an interesting read. The book an be a little annoying in places but otherwise it is a good read. You will go on an adventure with the character Kat and the other characters as she learns to deal with the world she is in. Katherine will not be the same after her trip

This was a great series starter and a new take on the Alice in Wonderland story. I’m ready for the next book.

Chasing Rabbits has an amazing story line… I was always questioning myself after I read certain parts and always thinking what if? What if she did this and what if she did that… but it never turned out the way I thought.
Katherine (Kat) follows or chases what she thinks is a rabbit that is always getting into her garden and stealing her carrots. And Kat does what any person would do when her curiosity gets to them when they chase a rabbit to a cave and finds a hole in the wall. She looks in and gets pulled into new wold…
What happens in this new strange word? Who does Kat meet? And what kind of adventure does Kat have? For the answers for these pondering questions you will need to read Chasing Rabbits… I did and I loved it to the very end and can’t wait for book 2 to come out…
A totally confusing story about seelie and unseelie, revenge, lost souls and an ending you knew would happen halfway through the story

Just like the original Alice in Wonderland, this story is like following the rabbit through the rabbit hole. It’s a wild and often convoluted ride. There were times when I had no idea what was going on (just like I often did in AiW) so this book had that in common. The story was a maddening, meandering plot through the weird and the crazy. While eventually everything started to make some sort of sense, it was still a very confusing story

for the audio –
You must get Chasing Rabbits if you even like Alice a teeny bit or better if you hate her but love the world of the Fae and Shadows. This story was such a unique play on all of the characters and the world. It was definitely upped to the steamy ranking. It is not your childhood tale anymore. It was fun and playful, yet dark and intriguing and times. I absolutely ADORED the voices of Mop and Trip! I can still hear Trip in my head days later. Lisa Zimmerman did a perfect job with the different characters, what they were feeling, or expressing them; whether it be hiding something, disdainful, curious, or just “other.” I can’t wait for the next fall into the rabbit’s hole.
While this is part of a series, I believe this is the first and there is a prequel that doesn’t need (shouldn’t?) be listened to first. I didn’t listen to it and think I am glad for it.
Chasing Rabbits (The Underground Book One) is a fresh new look on a classic fairytale. Right from the beginning Chasing Rabbits plot pulls you into the land of magic and fantasy. The plot becomes more complex as you listen on with secrets and twist. The main character Kat is feisty and bold. It is a masterly written journey into the fantasy world. If you like fantasy and fairytales with Faes you will love this. Absolutely loved this avant-garde twist on a classic. Looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series.
Narator Lisa Zimmerman was the perfect choice to narate this audio series. Her inflection was smooth as well as defined with distinct voices. I loved listening to her entertain us.
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This review may contain spoilers.
Alice in Wonderland has always been my all time favorite fairy tale story. On this retelling I am landing right in the middle. On one hand, there were some things that I felt needed improvement, and on the other hand, the premise of the story is incredibly unique and I enjoyed this book a lot.
In this re-imagining/retelling, the first thing that you will notice is the very original premise. The fae angle was quite clever for a Wonderland retelling. The plot is fairly strong, only needed a little clarification in a few spots throughout the story. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that the final twist at the end of the book did not have a great explanation. I definitely thought that more details were needed there, and throughout some other parts of the story. The author does a great job with the flow of the story. It never felt too slow, or too fast. The plot was compelling, and I was desperately turning the pages to find out what would happen next.
The world itself was very creative. There were some instances where more detail was needed, but for the most part I liked the world building.
The writing itself could have been more polished. I found many spelling and grammatical errors. I also felt like it read more like an text message than a novel. There was slang every other paragraph, and some of the wording did not seem appropriate for the context.
I enjoyed many of the characters in the book, but the main character and I were at odds throughout the book. Kat was snarky, foul mouthed, and quite annoying at times. She lusted after every attractive male in the story, which I hated. She claimed to be a “one-man” kind of girl and that a “casual” relationship is not her thing, yet at the beginning of the book she admits to having had friends with benefits which is as casual as it gets. Yet, at other times she was very likable. I very much liked the Cheshire Cat. He was a very interesting character that I had many different opinions of as the story progressed. The Mad Hatter is a character that is briefly touched upon in the book, which I liked. In most retellings, the Mad Hatter is one of the main focuses of the story. He makes a brief cameo in this story, and we don’t even get to hear him speak. We just get a physical description, which I also liked. The Unseelie Prince was another character that I enjoyed, although I felt he could have been more developed. Trip and Mop were darling little characters. Alice was a little mysterious, and I didn’t entirely like her. She seemed very daft. “The Shadows” was an interesting and mysterious character.
There was a scene in the book where Kat is almost rapes by a fae, and I felt that is was totally unnecessary. It didn’t connect with anything else in the book, and if I am honest, it was rather disturbing.
Overall, this book has a lot of promise. I enjoyed it very much, all of the quirks aside. I would definitely recommend it on the originality alone. There are sexual situations in the book, so this one if not for a younger audience. I think that with some polishing, this could be an outstanding novel. I definitely plan on continuing this series.
I loved the retelling of Alice in Wonderland staring Kat and the Fae. I am not always a fan of the fae genre but this one had enough of the retelling to keep me interested. I enjoyed the occasional humorous moments and Kat’s crazy challenges after falling down the rabbit hole. Alice was never my favorite fairy tale but with the retelling and the adult only aspect of this book I found it much more interesting. I am looking forward to reading more from this world.
